The Awakening

Located in the heart of Central City is a prestigious school of magic called the Seminary of Thaumaturgy. There are 3 advanced schools that taught magic arts and S.O.T is ranked #1 in terms of versatility! There are several rumors, myths, and legends surrounding these prestigious schools, the most prominent one is revolved around the schools' history.

This rumor stated that these schools have been around for hundreds of years, although there is no solid proof. People think that they've resurfaced back into the public eye with the Magic law being officialized. There are no known records of these accusations, or at least to the public...

This school has the lowest graduation rate among the 3 but those who did manage would grow to be exceptionally gifted magic users. After a required 4 years minimum of study and training, one is eligible to graduate. The final test will be one where you must show at least ninety percent mastery of your chosen fields.

Kevin has been forced to attend two of these schools, S.O.T and another one named 'Brews of Enrichment'. While he spends most of the week at the former with his private instructor, every few days he is taken to B.O.E's campus to study. After his classes are over, Agent White comes to deliver Kevin to Vector. Today was different, he decided to stay at S.O.T and take extra classes which would stretch late into the night.

While everyone held an undying loyalty to the master of Cobra Kevin didn't. He hated him, after all, who would show loyalty to the person who killed their mother? From that faithful day, he has been slowly trying to formulate a plan of action to get closer to his master and enact his revenge!

So far his 10-year-old brain hasn't come up with a solid foolproof plan to execute. Instead of wasting time by overthinking the situation, he is devoting more of his focus to elemental mastery. In his mind, he can't do anything unless he is strong. So without strength, there was no use in stressing, currently he was in the dojo area.

This place was decorated in some type of crimson red material that ran along the walls and ceiling which was accompanied by some waxed golden pillars in the corners of the room that made them extremely shiny and reflective. Inscribed on them were stylized flowers which surrounded tigers. The lighting in the dojo came from floating glass orbs near the ceiling that shone with white light. In the center of the dojo stood a youth with short dark brown hair holding a flame in his hand while inside this large training area.

Sweat dripped down his cheek, and breathing became harder with each second that passed. Veins bulged from his tiny arms and trailed up his body to the base of his neck as he tried to focus extremely hard to maintain the heat source, forcing it to stay lit. [Come on you pathetic flame, burn!] He thought, then suddenly POOF the fire was extinguished.

He had a lot of stuff on his mind which didn't help the progression of training. "AGH!!" Kevin stomped his foot on the floor so hard the entire room shook. Shortly after this act of rage, a large stone pillar rose from the ground. Its sharp point pierced through the fortified floor and shot skyward stabbing the roof like a knife through soft dough, making debris fall and crash onto the ground.

"Calm yourself, Kevin, you are rushing the process too much! Not only do you have to get used to the rapid increase of magical energy coming from within yourself, but you also have to be in with the nature of magic to control it properly."

A man in a velvet-colored cloak stood on the other side of the room and watched as Kevin threw a fit, this man was his private teacher, Sora. He walked over to the little boy, the floorboards creaking beneath each step then placed his hand on his head. "When learning to control two other magic types I understand things can get frustrating; that is even more apparent when you are aiming for four."

"That is when you must calm your nerves and clear your mind, getting angry will get you nowhere! You know most students who dream about mastering three tend to give up after a few months returning their focus to two types. You haven't even shown the slightest sign of stopping."

Kevin looked up at the man in velvet with eyes filled with hatred, not for him specifically but still full of anger. "Hands off me imbecile!" He wasn't thinking straight! As he yelled Kevin raised his right hand quickly smacking the instructor off of his head. "Don't put your grubby mitts on me again, otherwise I'll have your head on a pike."

By this point in time, the instructor was used to most of the childrens' threats and never paid them much mind, but for some reason his were different. Every nerve in his body told him to stay away or run whenever he was in the boy's presence. Even if the look in Kevin's eyes solidified the fact that he was serious and could very well have that happen, Sora had a duty to uphold as the teacher.

After taking a few steps back Sora sighs and then begins to take a few minutes to think to himself.

[Kevin, is the first person in S.O.T's most current history to show actual potential in mastering 4 different types of magic. While our school has a common rate of 1-2 fields per person, there hasn't been anyone in the past five and a half years no one has mastered even 3 magic types let alone 4.]

[The young man has a major uphill battle to fight, but all of the elders know he can do it. I must make sure to make sure his determination doesn't fade.]

Sora observes the kid trying to set his palm ablaze but nothing happened. "I've been keeping a close eye on you since your arrival here six months ago. It wasn't hard to notice that attitude accompanied by a ferocious look in your eye. What's got you so angry boy?" The instructor slammed his foot on the floor the stone pillar vanished and the damage to the room fixed itself. His face grew stern and ignored all of his fight or flight responses.

There was a time of silence between his sentences that left an eerie feeling which slowly filled the room. "When the students of this school have a bad day or are going through a rough spot they are back to normal in a week. The absolute longest I've seen has been a month!" As it stands the teacher was tired of being mistreated and demanded respect from this rebellious brat, they locked eyes as he stood his ground.

"You are a special case, it seems that your anger has not subsided in the slightest. I've noticed quite the opposite, your rage full gaze has intensified over the past half-year." The instructor walked around the dojo's main area with his arm's behind his back awaiting the child's answer.

Kevin initially flinched at the loud stomp, losing his focus. Although he has shown an immense amount of growth in such a short time, it did not change the fact that he was a kid and still feared many things; even if he had not realized it.

"That's none of your business you..buffoon..." His words were said way too quietly for Sora to hear, Kevin soon slipped into his memories completely forgetting about the present. He was raised by a woman who gave him anything he wanted anytime he asked. In his mind, nothing was out of reach until one day.

The day his life went downhill was when he encountered a strange individual with dreads. [If he didn't arrive and tried to play hero, then my mother wouldn't have had to use her power.] He felt the only reason the man in orange even showed up in the first place was because of him!

A few months back Kevin watched a news broadcast from South City. There was a store robbery in progress, something as small as this didn't interest him so he was going to click off. As he reached for the remote a man in purple stood in front of three inexperienced 'robbers'.

This man wore a purple bandana that covered his face but Kevin, near-instantly recognized who was behind the ridiculous get-up. After watching all of the events, it was obvious that he had gotten stronger which pushed Kevin to try even harder in his training. Some would even say that the real person he was after is Zero, Vector killing his mother was just a side product of what he did. Although that doesn't alleviate his suppressed anger towards Cobra's arrogant leader.

While the boy continued to think back his private instructor grew tired of waiting for an acceptable answer. To prepare for his next statement the teacher stopped walking, cleared his throat, and took a deep breath. During exhale instead of just releasing his breath, a loud boom occurred breaking the intense silence due to the accompanying shout. "KEVIN!!"

His yell echoed throughout the entire building momentarily disrupting other classes who grew curious about what was happening in the other room. Some students even walked the hallway, peeping around the corner to see a teacher and student standing across from each other.

This loud noise snapped the child from his daydreaming. His eyes were filled even more with anger as they locked onto the man in velvet. Tension rose between the two, so much so that if there were any small animals present they would surely die from a heart attack.

"I said none...OF YOUR BUSINESS!! AGH!!!" His rage rose to unimaginable heights granting him a major headache. Something inside him snapped, he felt power building from within him faster and stronger than ever in the past six months that he's been enrolled.

Everything went deathly silent, no one dared to make a single noise. Kevin continued to struggle to keep his cool, he didn't know what was going on. Suddenly, his eyes started to glow white making the whole school violently shake. Students and now teachers in the hallway who stood there watching all began to get nervous.

In the next moment, Kevin turned his head towards the bystanders at breakneck speed, upon stopping an invisible wave of mental energy was thrown in their direction. Once it passed, one of the teachers and two children collapsed to their knees with foamed mouths their heart's stopped. Others' ears and noses began bleeding immensely as their brains practically turned to mush and fell to the ground.

With a single look, four people died in an instant! The lucky ones who managed to somehow stay alive panicked and ran in the opposite direction. Kevin's teacher Sora quickly took note of the events that were occurring and reacted. He held his hand toward the hallway where the bystanders were and they seemed to be pushed back, more like the entire hallway ran away like a scared little puppy! In its place, a wall formed as if it was always there, to begin with.

Outside, the night sky which was previously covered in thousands of stars was replaced by dense dark clouds, they started thundering and raining. The wind currents picked up immensely blowing over cars and caving in several building walls. Meanwhile, back inside the school things continued to go haywire.

Kevin was on the ground gripping his head in pain, veins bulged from every part of his body making him look like a disgusting yet dangerous pile of old soggy noodles. The building continued to shake violently, people began evacuating the school, but his teacher walked toward him and reached out to grab his shoulder. "You need to calm d-"

Before he could get even two steps from him, Kevin looked up and screamed. "GET AWAY FROM ME!" The temperature started to rise rapidly, and a bulky pillar of flames shot from the ground where the teacher stood causing him to jump back out the way. [How am I supposed to approach him? It feels like the gates of hell have been opened and all its inhabitants unleashed on earth!]

The residents of Central City panicked. This was the worst storm to have ever happened and for some reason, it was only focused in Central City! The ground opened up swallowing some houses due to the massive earthquake, the wind blew apart buildings left and right, a storm that came from nowhere rained boiling hot water, and to make things even 'better' the temperature outside continued to rise!

No one knew why this was happening to them, except the fleeting people from the Seminary of Thaumaturgy located in the heart of the city.

Inside the building Sora, the man in velvet struggled to stand and breathe. All of his energy was being sapped away because of the lack of sufficient air, it was extremely hot due to his proximity to Kevin. "You must regain control- or else the city will be..." Not being able to hold out any longer the teacher's eyes rolled back and he passed out. Kevin's power continued to skyrocket worsening the damage to the school and city around him.

All hope seemed to be lost until from the ground to Kevin's right, a black hole opened, and out came an elderly man's head. He looked around for the source of this mess until his eyes made contact with a boy crouching and screaming in pain. Exiting the hole he walked over and stood next to Kevin. He had a slight smirk on his face, this appeared to be nothing to him! It made sense as he had a sense of extreme danger to him along with the wisdom of some ancient being.

Sporting a hot pink varsity jacket with fuchsia-colored buttons and sleeves on top of a salmon-colored shirt, his pants followed a similar color scheme as the jacket. The old man was nearly bald except for a long section of grey hair in a ponytail atop his head, along with a mustache and beard giving him the appearance of some old sensei who tried to fit in with the 'new times'. He looked quite terrifying with his eyes fully blacked out and teeth as sharp as the quills on a porcupine's back accompanied by some unusual hexagon-shaped ears.

As he touched the boy's shoulder a sizzling sound could be heard while steam rose from his hand, shockingly this did not hurt the grandpa at all! Kevin looked up. "HANDS OFF!" He shouted, engulfing the new figure in a dense pillar of flames.

The old man then laughed, it echoed through the room until he poked his head through the fire and looked down at Kevin who replied with a look of confusion and worry. [W-what?] He thought to himself.

"It's because you are simply far too weak to harm me, child." Appearing to be able to read minds the old guy replied, his smug smile taunted the kid further engaging him. The old man laughed in Kevin's face then suddenly stopped and his face went serious.

"You have disturbed my slumber forcing me to wake early. I think it's high time for you to go nighty niiiiight..." His words lingered in the air for a few more seconds as black energy traveled from his body to Kevin's; whose eyes turned back to normal. All of the unnatural disasters ceased once Kevin passed out. Despite that, the earthquakes, rain, hellish wind, and even the temperature harshly impacted a lot of citizens' lives.

The Cobra tattoo engraved on Kevin's arm morphed into a strange symbol, it resembled a fancy capital 'Q' encased within a diamond that had two lines crossed though like an 'X'. Then the old man with sharp teeth and ears opened another hole. "Well, I guess I'll try and head back to sleep myself, who knows." After that, he fell through it once again leaving the area in pure silence.

The next morning the Sora woke up in a hurry. He looked around and saw Kevin passed out on the ground. "Was I..dreaming?" After taking out his phone to check the news alert notifications his eyes widened.

"The amount of damage caused to Central City last night due to a freakish series of events shook everyone. Not only did many people lose their homes and jobs, some even family or friends, but Central City is reported to be the only city that was affected! Some of the locals believe that the heavens are judging us while others doubt it. Who knows what the cause of it all was, is it even possible to protect ourselves from another disaster like that? Well, that's all from Central City news!"

After the broadcast cut, the teacher looked at Kevin. "He actually did it!" Little did Sora know, this was just the beginning...
