Chapter 5: The Black Knight Karso:

I was waiting in the castle for the king to give me another mission. I never quite understood why people thought the dragon riders were evil... but it's my job to stop them. "Hey Karso! The king says you have the day off." A maid said to me. To normal people that would be good, but to me... it wasn't. I have nothing to do other than work.

I walk around the castle until I reach the old abandoned library. I don't know what it is about books but they interest me, especially medical books. Before I was a Knight I wanted to be a medic. I wanted to help save lives not destroy them. But here I am stuck in my position as the black Knight. I pick up a book on draconic illnesses and start reading. Dragons have some pretty dangerous diseases but they are very interesting. Such as wyrmscale, a parasitic dragon disease that humans can catch. if it takes over the full body, the parasites devours their insides and leaves their skin to rot. I heard a window open behind me. I wanted to look but I was hooked on the book...

Alice's POV:

I enter the villains base through the abandoned library. Although it wasn't empty... there was a boy sat reading a book on draconic illnesses. I walk up to him. "That book isn't right you know?" He looks at me but doesn't attack, probably because he thinks I'm a guest or a maid or something. "Wyrmscale is a blessing to humans, it gives them extreme intelligence, it only harms mystical creatures." The boy smiles at me and started asking a few medical questions and I happily answer. It feels nice to talk about this to someone who's actually interested even if he is a villain. We talked for hours when an alarm started to sound. "Warning. A dragon rider has breached the castle, Alice Katney is in our castle. Find her and arrest her immediately." my face goes pale and the boy looked at me.

"You're her aren't you..." He said sounding genuinely disappointed. I nodded slowly send looked at the window. "Hurry up then if you're going to escape." He gives off a soft smile and I start climbing out the window. But as soon as I got down a bag was placed on my head. I screamed but the bag muffled it and I could feel myself being dragged away.

Arcave's POV:

Octavian handed me a blade, it was sharp and made of a metal I don't recognise. "You can use this, I'm sorry shouldn't have tried to force u into a powerbond." I looked at him confused.

"Powerbond? What's that?" He smiled and looked at me.

"Oh right, When u bond with a dragon and have an emotional connection to it you can powerbond and gain their powers." He looked towards the soldiers. "You ready?" I nod.

Octavian's POV:

I emerge from the forest. "Hey boys. Names Octavian, I've heard I'm very attractive..." the magnetic symbols run up my arms and smile, "Wouldn't u agree?" they all raise up their swords, A minor mistake of course. Just a click of my fingers and their weapons are mine. The soldiers stare at me dumbfounded. "WARLOCK!" I look at him and smile, Warlocks are corrupt dark souls but highly attractive.

"Now then isn't that a bit rude of you?" I am no warlock." I stared him in the eyes, "But I have the soul of one." I ripped the throat and heart out of his body and smiled as he dropped to the floor.

I heard a scream behind me. Arcave had been impaled. My heart stopped, I run up to him and crush the dudes skull between metal blocks. "Arcave are you OK?!" He was barely breathing. I stormed into the base knocking everyone out i possibly can. "WHISPER WHERE ARE YOU!" Whisper is a dragon, the only dragon capable of healing people. And she was captured here.

I enter the room, and see her. A serpentine draconic creature white in colour with rainbow wings lays on the floor. "Whisper, If I may wish on you a favour?" The dragon raises her head and looks at me. "Heal Arcave... He was stabbed and I don't know if he will make it." The dragon glows pink and I could hear her voice in my head 'A powerful emotion you feel for this boy Octavian Herington, for you I shall grant this wish, So long as u free me from this prison' I use my powers to break the chains and the serpent followed me out. Whisper is the dragon of emotions and healing. She looks at Arcave and looks at Octavian. 'Hold his hand and close your eyes.' I do as she say and a pulse runs thru my body. Slowly I could hear Arcave breathing faster and his pulse returning. I didn't open my eyes until Whisper nudged my shoulder. Arcave was awake and smiled at me. "Thanks." I smiled back wiping my tears and carried him back to the dragons as we head home.

Alice's POV:

I woke up in a cell, it was full of mold and skeletons. Guards stand stationary outside. And I heard a voice next to me. "You're rather pretty to be an enemy of that King, he'll probably let u off ad long as you work for him." His hair was white as snow and his eyes as pale as ghosts. He had scars that ran down his arm and an immense burn marks on his neck. "Did the king do that to you..?" I asked. The boy let out a soft laugh,

"This? No Ameterasu gave me these." Ameterasu? the Japanese goddess? I looked at him skeptically. "Ameterasu, she's a phoenix." That made more sense, Phoenixes are rare in Daracnia but they exist. They work alongside hunters, I've had a few encounters with the hunters, not the nicer of people. "So you were a hunter?" He nods and looks at my hand.

"Dragon rider? No powerbond coz the symbols on your hands are faint." I was surprised he could guess, people always assume I'm a fae or a witch, but someone guessing I'm a dragon rider? that was new. I nod, "What is this place?" I asked, The boy raised his eyebrow. "You don't recognise the Black Knights chamber." my eyes widen and i look around.

"This is the chamber he tortured people in?!" the boy nodded. "Fuck..." my mind was spinning out of control, I didn't know what to do.

Arcave's POV:

Was he crying? Octavian brought me back to the dragons but I swear I saw him wipe a tear. Was he upset? I wanted to make sure he was OK but I couldn't talk... Then I remembered what happened, someone had stabbed me. How am I alive? I swear I saw the afterlife... Was it an afterlife? Heaven, Edom? There is so many versions of the afterlife I can't figure out which one I was at. He flew us back to the cabins and a girl was waiting for him, White hair, Yellow cat like eyes. She was very interesting and pale, almost like a ghost. "What in daracnia happened to him?" The girl ask running her hand along the cut, I whinced in pain. "Hands off Kayla, he was stabbed..." Genuine concern filled Octo's eyes. The girl looks at him confused.

"You've known him 2 and a half days, why are u so upset about it?" Octavian rolled his eyes and said something but my ears didn't hear it, I was focused on something else... Screaming. "Where's Alice..?" I said weakly, Kayla looked serious and pale.

"The Kings castle..." She answered after a while.

Octavian looked at me. He looked scared, who was this King and why does everyone seem terrified by him.
