Quarantine

War was spreading along with many other strange events taking place.

It began small and undetectable until it started to reach a point where it could no longer be covered up or ignored.

The amount of missing people cases began to increase greatly along with there being a rapid increase of assassinations of high ranking people and the spread of mysterious illnesses that wiped out smaller tribes.

The lands that were rumoured to have been most affected were considered as dead lands which had been abandoned by the highest authority people in the capital.

They were simply too ill-equipped to deal with the growing crisis and they could not reach out to others outside since it would show their weakness making them excellent prey for other states.

Those in higher positions were trying their best to isolate such incidents to stop the spread to the point that some squads were formed in order to contain and eliminate such threats from reaching the capital.

It did not matter if the threat was contagious or not since it was something they could not understand and they had gained a lot of fear towards.

It was something that they had no control over with their current capabilities and resources so all they could do was make sure a certain percentage of the masses could be prioritised to be saved while the rest were already considered as being a threat.

A small village was full of people who were in such a state.

They had been abandoned to die a long time ago and most of the roads leading outside had been blocked off.

The soldiers blocking the path had different crests marking their clothing or the badges they carried which signified they all came from different forces.

Some were dressed a little more roughly which showed that they were very likely mercenaries hired to perform a task.

One man looked over towards the distance before settling upon another person who was sitting by a camp fire. "The area has been surrounded. There will be no way for them to escape."

The other person nodded before replying. "Good job. I have already arranged the arrow with a message to be sent towards them so they should not do anything out of our expectations. If they do then kill anyone on sight that gets too close."

Their joint task was to prevent the spread using any means necessary so that included preventing anyone believed to be infected to be able to leave an infected area.

No contact was allowed and if there was any then it was very likely that the believed newly infected person would be included as those to be dealt with.

They all had to maintain a big distance and use messages attached to arrows to convey their intentions towards the people they surrounded.

If there were any unexpected variables like people who were being surrounded started to try to escape or get too close then they would be shot at with arrows from further away.

The man began to ponder for some time then said. "Wait for a little longer. Night will be coming soon which will be the perfect time to strike."

The other person nodded silently turning his attention back to the fire with a slightly crazed look in his eyes. 'Hahaha… so many have been killed so far and the amount just keeps increasing.'

He was among many that had been taking on the same task and he felt like the amount of people dying due to their or others actions had reached a stage where they could no longer keep track of how many had died because of them.

The doctors themselves were too scared to make contact with the unknown disease for fear that they could not cure it and would die to it to.

Anyone brave enough to try was branded as infected and was quarantined along with those who were infected.

Due to certain conditions, the doctor had been trapped long enough that they somehow became infected themselves or were killed off along with those infected before they could confirm if they showed any similar symptoms.

Many bows and arrows were given out to each person participating which showed everyone was prepared to kill any infected on sight if they came out of the infected area.

Many of the arrows they carried had wet rags tied around them which showed that their plan was to shoot flaming arrows at the best possible timing when most people were already in their homes and most likely in a deep sleep.

Just as the surroundings were becoming darker and they all looked more prepared to take action, the man looked up with a confused look on his face.

A small spread out group of bugs started to appear so it was not something to pay a great amount of attention to especially at night when it was more difficult to notice their presence.

It was not until more started to appear and a small swarm began to appear above them that some people started to notice.

The man's eyes widened as he got up onto his feet calling out. "Something is wrong here!"

Just as he called out, the growing swarm started to spread out splitting into numerous directions flying towards the people below. "Gaah!"

"What is.."

"Aah!"

"It stings!"

"Get these bugs offa me!"

"Gya!"
