The blessing was that of a singular chocolate bar, I never had one of these treats before since I usually give them to the younger kids back at the orphanage.

"One bar and it's all for me, finally no longer do I have to share it "

With a smile on my face, I quickly unwrap the bar and proceed to devour it without any sense of control.

Once I have finished, I look once again to examine the sword.

"From the looks of it has a western-style since this looks like a knight's weaponry. It looks sharp but is it sturdy?"

I suddenly hear a sound coming from the south, something about the sound seems a bit different from everything that I have encountered so far.

"I should probably head back up to the NDHQ, but then again I really wanna test out this sword's qualities, plus I need to bring something back to sell"

With the thought of curiosity and need to earn a bit of income I hastily headed towards the source of that sound.

The closer I got to it the tenser I feel for some reason, I for some reason am experiencing a bit of tension on my chest causing me to struggle for a bit to breathe.

"Maybe I'm just tired from running?"

As I look up ahead I could see a clearing but as the clearing get clearer the first thing that caught my attention was the smell.

"Iron? No … blood and lots of it"

The smell started getting stronger and stronger but luckily for me it was bearable, then I started seeing bodies of both descenders and other animals. All of which had been ripped and torn apart with both bodies and limbs appearing unrecognizable.

"What happened here, or rather more importantly, what or who did this?"

From the appearance of the descenders, I noticed that all of them were newbies that started this career just recently, as evidenced by the cheap equipment all of which were wearing.

Suddenly a body came flying at me in front of me, I quickly evaded it, but as I turn around I noticed that the individual was still alive and breathing and so I ran towards them in hope of getting answers.

"What happened to you?"

The man stares at me before he opens his mouth, a small split of blood leaked out of his mouth as he does so, and muster enough strength to say.

"... th ... the ... floor ... boss "

As he squeezes those words out desperately I notice that he was not going to make it back up alive and so as his eyes lose their element of life I quickly close them before looking around for anything I can use.

The guy had no money nor did he had preserved rations but what I found instead was a photo of what I believe to be him and his little sister.

"Rest easy friend"

Suddenly a massive roar ranged out from the very same direction that the body came from, with a bit of hesitation I moved closer to the edge that separates the forest and the clearing.

I saw a group of descenders fighting against a giant creature, luckily it's just one, but it looks like the descenders are struggling heavily trying to kill it. I think it's best that I just sit and wait to see what happens if they kill the boss I will just head back up to HQ but if the boss kills them I will wait for it to sleep before finishing it off.

"The plan is a bit cruel but what can someone like me do? I am not equipped nor do I have enough experience to fight something that big, not to mention people down here are hard to trust."

I sat on some logs and watch for many hours as the group of descenders fight but over time I noticed that both sides were getting more and more tire from fighting as they both compete to see who can endure longer.

As the time progresses further the boss has lost so much blood as defenders continue firing at it from afar while those with melees attack up and close. The boss suddenly curled up into a ball with its head and limbs tucked in, from my perspective it looks almost like a big fat dumpling.

The descender at first was cautious and jumped back but when they noticed that the beast was just laying idly they decided to continue putting more pressure on the creature as one by one they strike and shoot its skin. For some reason, they can not seem to damage the boss further as their attacks seem ineffective, causing many descenders to stop and rest to regain their stamina.

As the number of attackers has become less than the numbers resting, the curled-up boss grew spikes on all sides of its body, the descenders seeing this was not close so they instead let their guard down and rest their tired self.

"Hey System what is that boss doing?"

[It is getting ready to attack]

"How? Is it not in a defensive stance?"

[No]

"Then why is it curled up with spike on every side of its body?"

[It's getting ready to fire off those spikes]

"Oh alright ... wait it's getting ready to do what?!"

All the spikes on the beast's body suddenly shoot off in all directions but the ones facing the descender penetrated through their bodies as if they were tank shells. I watch in surprise by the sheer power of each spikes as they shoot through one descender and penetrate another before finally they were taken down by gravity.

Instantly, a group of what appears to be 20 descenders became 5 in a matter of seconds, as the next thing I heard were screams of pain and agony coming from those who were hit and are now currently squabbling around on the ground.

As they continue to endure the pain one by one they all succumbed to their injuries, leaving only 5 descender to finish off the boss. With their advantage in numbers now gone those who remains started losing their will to fight and so they fell to their knees in hope of dying alongside with their fallen comrades.

"That is such a pitiful sight, luckily the boss is now weaken but is it enough to finish it off?"
