21 Chapter 21 “Downpour” Finale
Yin Ivy Lee's POV
"Yin, please wake up soon…"
I don't know if I'm just dreaming but I always hear this everyday
Sometimes I hear Yang's voice but it's not that clear…
I slowly opened my eyes and the first person I saw was Yang he called out for the doctor and everyone came rushing in to check my condition. I can't grasp the situation until I was able to rest for more and woke up again.
"Yin…do you recognize me?"
"Y-ang…"
"Do you want some water?"
I nodded…
"Goodness!! Thank you, you're finally awake you've been asleep for a month!!"
"I've been asleep for a month?!"
"Don't you remember anything?"
I tried to recall everything that has happened, I remembered Yuan's face vividly and everything that has happened…
"Yuan? Where's Yuan?!"
"Yin!! Calm down!! He's fine, his family is taking good care of him he'll come visit you soon so just wait…"
"Please take me to him…"
"Let���s do that next time, for now you have to rest and gain back your strength…"
I was convinced than Yuan was fine and that he'll come and visit me soon but that never happened so I started to wonder. I heard he was brought to this hospital as well so I asked the nurse.
"Sir Yuan Mendez was transferred by his mother into a different hospital 2 days ago…"
That was when I gained consciousness…
"Was he severely injured?"
"Yes, he was, he had 2 operations in a day and he was also in a comatose until his last day here…"
"Do you perhaps know where he was transferred?"
"I don't know…"
Yuan, I'm really sorry I got you into this…
I called my secretary and told her to look where Yuan was transferred.
The next day, someone knocked on my door…
"Come in!!"
"Mrs. Mendez! I'm really sorry about what happened… May I know where's Yuan?"
"Miss Ivy Lee… I came here to tell you to stop looking for Yuan… It's all your fault why my son got harmed!!! So, will you please stay away from him?! My family had enough scandals and tragedy!! I don't want to lose my last son so will you please!!! Stay away from him…"
I was taken aback by what she said and what's more painful is that she wasn't wrong after all, Yuan was harmed because of me.
"I'm going to take him to the US, he will need a brain surgery and if he wakes up, I will make sure that he will never return here to see you… I don't want to lose my child so if you truly love him just let him be and don't bother him anymore."
"Mrs. Mendez, I'm really sorry, just let me see him once…"
"You should be ashamed!!! you caused this to my son and you wanted to see him?!?"
"I didn't mean for him to get harmed, how I wish I was alone that day… so he won't get hurt…"
"But my son was hurt and I'm going to protect my son, in the first place I never liked that you're with my son, the owner of our former rival company. So please stay out of his life!!!"
She walked out of my room and there I was crying my heart out Yuan hasn't regained consciousness and still in a critical state…
"Aaaaaagggghhhh!!!" I shouted and vented out my anger…
"Yin!! What's wrong?! Why are you crying?" he then immediately hugged me to restrain me from throwing things out.
"Yuan…"
"Calm down Yin…"
The doctors came in and gave me a sedative…
As I opened my eyes Yang was sitting on a chair beside me…
"You told me Yuan was fine and that he'll visit soon… why did you lie?"
"I'm sorry Yin, I know you'll just get worried and it will be bad for your recovery so I had to lie…"
"They're going to take him to the US and I might not be able to see him ever again, that's what his mother told me... Yang… I can't go on without him… I should have been alone so he won't have to suffer right now…"
"Yin… I'll help you find him, everything will be fine, so just focus on recovering, okay?"
I nodded…
"Yin there's something more I have to tell you, it's about your mother, during the accident she almost killed you with a steel pipe so the police shot her and unfortunately she was shot right in the head and died on the spot."
"She wasn't my real mother…"
"What do you mean?"
"Yang you have to help me…"
"Anything, just tell me."
"We need to go to the house where I was held captive when I was a kid, we should tell the police to look for my mom's body…"
"What?! What do you mean?!"
"Just follow what I said…"
Several days after I woke up, we came to the house in the forest where I was held before, everyone was searching the area, the police brought K9 units to hasten the search.
"Sir we think it's here!!"
"Let's go inside" I said
"Are you sure?" Yang asked
He was holding my hand to give support because until now I couldn't walk properly…
We entered the house and terrible memories when I was a child kept rushing back in.
"If you feel dizzy, we could just wait outside…" he said
"No…"
We went inside a room and it was the same room where she locked me. Just like before the room had wood floor boards.
"We have to destroy the floor boards"
We watched the police destroy the floor and dig through dirt and in a moment later…
"Sir!! Positive!!"
"Pull out the bag!!!"
They pulled out a black body bag and tried to open it.
Yang immediately covered my eyes and locked me in his arms so I wouldn't see…
"Please retrieve a DNA sample so we could determine…"
On our way back home, I told Yang everything that woman told me that day, even Yang couldn't believe about what he heard.
2 days after, it was confirmed that it was indeed my mother's body and I swear to heavens that it was so painful, the thought of not growing up with a mother is already painful but growing up hating the wrong person was even more painful, I felt deeply sorry that I hated her without even knowing.
After sending her off and placing her in a proper resting place, I felt so empty and alone… Gladly, Yang has never left my side and continued helping me, he was able to find Yuan's location in Canada so we flew there…
I finally saw him but we went into the ICU of the hospital secretly
"Yuan… Han… I'm really sorry, if I could only switch our places, I would have done that… please wake up now…"
"Yin, we have to leave, his mother is here…"
I whispered in his ears…
"Han, I'll be waiting come back to me soon…"
Before leaving I left a blue handkerchief, I slipped it on his hands and gave him a kiss on his forehead.
"Yin…"
"What on Earth are you doing here?!!" his mom caught us
"Didn't I already asked you to get out from my son's life? We already went miles away yet you still followed us?!"
"I'm so sorry Mrs. Mendez I just wanted to see him"
"Get out of this room!! You're a lawyer, right? if you won't stop going near my son, I will file a restraining order!!"
"Don't you think that's too much?!" Yang interfered
"Too much?! My son hasn't opened my eyes yet!! You think it's too much?! this is all your fault!! You should have just been alone and died that day!! Why drag my son with you?!"
"That's---"
"Yang… It's enough, let's just leave…"
That was the last time I saw Yuan, I know I deserve to hear those words, if it weren't for me, he wouldn't be in that situation.
Yang and I decided to come back home. It's been a month since then, and I started working again in the company, I was thankful towards Yang for taking care of the company when I was in a coma and I am more thankful that he helps me with my treatment for PTSD, I've been consulting a psychiatrist to treat my traumas… This time I'm even more determined to get well… I should forget my car crash, so things like that won't ever happen again…
"Yin… I heard they transferred Yuan…" he said after taking a sip from his wine glass
"Yang… I think we should stop here, maybe that's why they kept on transferring him so we won't be able to come near Yuan, if that's the case he'll just get tired… it will get difficult for him… So, let's stop tailing them…"
"But Yin…"
"He's still the one, if he's meant for me, he'll come back in time, if he wasn't, then…"
"Then?"
"Then, I'll just have to accept and let him go… I'm used to being alone anyway…"
"You're not alone, Yin, I'll always be here…" he smiled
"Thanks…"
Honestly, I worry about Yuan a lot, I wanted to see him, I want to know if he already regained consciousness, but I don't want to bother them anymore and cause some trouble. I wanted to take care of him like how he took care of me…
Yang Ivan Zheng's POV
Yin has been really determined to cure her traumas so she's been attending counseling thrice a week. She's been changing for the better. But what I can't change about her are those lonely eyes and pretentious smile, she acts as if she's fine.
She works day and night even though she has finished all her pending works, she looks for more… I was worried so I asked her psychiatrist secretly, I was told to just let her be because that's how she copes with loneliness and emptiness, the feeling of being full because she's loaded with work keeps her away from pain. I just have to make sure she sleeps and eat well.
After asking me to stop tailing Yuan, we never talked about him again, but I know and I feel how much she misses him.
I sometimes catch her alone in the office drinking wine staring at the pitch-black night view of the city from the window of her office. I'm really not used into this…
"Yin, it's Friday night let's go out!"
"I just want to rest…"
Rest, but all she's going to do is bring her work home and continue…
"Eyyyy… come on!! Yin!! Okay fine if you don't want to go out how about we just hang out at the villa? Please?! Come on Yin!!!"
"Fine…"
Finally!! I got to distract her from work and get her a time to relax…
"Yin I know you're really good in archery but I would dare to challenge you!! I practiced a lot…"
"practicing might make you better but not as good as me…" she said
We played archery the whole night and out of 12 sets she won 10 of it…
"I gave you some slack…" she said and took a sip on her wine glass
"HA!! Thanks!! you totally stepped on my pride you should have just won all of them!!!"
She wasn't joking though, she always got 10 or 9 who else could ever beat her? Shouldn't she join an Olympic at this rate?
"Thank you… Yang…"
"For what?"
"I know you're doing this to cheer me up and to keep me away from overworking myself…"
So, she knew after all…
"But trust me I'm fine, Yang…"
"I'm just worried you'll get sick if you kept on working nonstop…"
"Before, I always have to drink a bottle of wine in order to sleep or take a sleeping pill in order to sleep, but I've grown tired of those habits, tiring myself by working more puts me to sleep without wines and pills… so just let me…"
So that's why…
"Yuan must be very proud of you…" it was an honest slip of the tongue I didn't want to mention his name but it just came out…
She smiled at me
"I'm sorry I know you were avoiding topics regarding him…"
"It's fine I understand…"
8 months passed by so quickly, Yin has stopped going to the psychiatrist about a month ago she freed herself from the traumas she had. It was quite amusing to see her drive in the rain and whenever she sees red ropes, she's no longer afraid of it. She has been afraid of red ropes since she was a child and she has been avoiding driving in the rain for almost five or six years now… I didn't know a person could actually change drastically if she's very determined.
Now that she's stronger I think her personality has gotten even more tough, I mean she's back to being the cold hearted Miss Ivy of the business world, sometimes it scares me by how she acts with people, she's also back with her lawyer duties, she's been taking cases for free and she fights for her defendants aggressively, I'm afraid she might make some enemies because of it.
"Ahh!! You must be in a good condition today seeing that you didn't even let me win a set…"
We're at the villa competing against each other in an archery match, we've been hanging out every Friday night at the villa, this habit has been established for a while now.
"Yang…"
"Hmmm?"
She suddenly became serious…
"Do you think Yuan has regained consciousness? Or was he still the same?"
"Do you want me to find out?"
"No… never mind…"
"But…" she paused
"If he woke up do you think he'll come find me?"
She looked at me with eyes welling up with tears… please don't look at me when you're that hurt because I'm also hurt.
"He'll come looking for you for sure…"
There goes that smile again but her eyes are so lonely and it's sad there's nothing I can do about it.
"Anyway, are you free Wednesday next week?" she asked
"Of course!! Why?"
"Well it's East coast resort's anniversary and the opening of the new building and other facilities, we will be holding a party to celebrate it."
"Well let's go together…" I said
Yin Ivy Lee's POV
"Clair, please double check the menus that are going to be served during the dinner and make sure to invite some press for publication of the new features of our resort, double check the security."
"Yes, Miss Ivy"
I'm tensed with the resort's upcoming anniversary and launch of the new building and other facilities.
The event will be tomorrow and I have to fly there with Yang tonight.
"Yin!! I���m sorry am I late?"
"You're an hour late Yang!!"
"Let's go to the rooftop…"
"Are you flying again?"
"Yes… anyway this is a new chopper I bought from Germany and I've got this checked by professionals so no need to worry…"
"Owww! Who says I'm worried?"
"Well it's written all over you…"
After some bickering and a few hours in the air we landed safely. We just have to wait for the event tomorrow…
"I just have to change into my gown…"
"Tell me when you're done changing…"
"You can come in now!! I'm good!!"
"I saw the weather forecast today they said it's going to rain…"
"Ahhh really?!" I said as I face the mirror and put on my earing…
"Well, when you open a business, then it rains isn't that considered lucky?"
"ohh!! I didn't know there was such a superstition…" I said
"I just heard about it somewhere…"
"Ahhhh~~"
"Yin, I have something for you…"
"Something for me?"
"Yeah! A friend of mine told me I could give this to you"
"A sapphire necklace?! This is expensive!! Who's that friend I should thank her…"
"Ahhh… she's someone from abroad…"
"Ooooh!! You've got something with her?"
"Hahahahah!! No!!"
"Anyway, tell her thanks…"
"I'll surely will…"
"Will you help me wear this?"
"Sure…"
"there you go… it looks great on you…"
"thanks…"
"Miss Ivy! Sir Yang the program will start…"
"Okay! Let's go?!"
We held the event at the new function hall of the resort and I'm very satisfied how the new facilities were done…
"Ivy!!"
"Hi Tristan! By the way I really love everything! By the way thank you for working with this project"
"No problem, my pleasure's all mine…"
"Tristan, Yin's actually planning to put another mall next year you should start will the planning now…"
"Oh right!! Yes!! Thank you for mentioning that Yang... I'm hoping you'll still work with me in my new mall"
"I'd be delighted…"
"Excuse me Miss Ivy, it's time for your speech…"
"Oh… okay… excuse me gentlemen…"
I went up to the stage to give my speech…
"Greetings ladies and gentlemen! This is Yin Ivy Lee chairwoman of Lotus group of companies… This year was quite tough and challenging for me, with all the unfortunate events that has happened and all the issues that came out I am glad that here I am facing all of you in a joyous event as we celebrate our anniversary and launch our new facilities in the resort. I would like to thank my close friend, engineer slash architect Tristan Sy for making this project into reality and my brother from a different bloodline Yang Ivan Zheng for keeping up with me and always being there, Yang! I couldn't thank you enough, cheers to our relationship that no one could ever understand!" I raised my wine glass and saw him smile dearly at me
"And to a special person who's been through a lot because of me, thank you and I miss you… To all the people who are present today at this event, thank you and I welcome you all to an upgraded version of our resort!! Enjoy the rest of the night!"
I descend from the stage and Yang gave me a hug…
"Congrats Yin…"
"Thanks… Will you accompany Tristan for a while? I'll just go check on something I'll be back really quick."
"okay…"
I went outside the venue and removed my stiletto and walked around the beach I reach the farthest point of the beach from the venue and there I sat down at the sand staring at the pitch-black night view of the sea.
It's so peaceful out here but it's my heart I can't put in peace. I look up at the sky but there's no stars, it might really rain tonight.
I closed my eyes while facing up the sky…
Then I felt a water, drop into my eyelid then it started to pour but I didn't move an inch and just let myself get drenched on the rain.
When rain comes it's best if it would pour out at once and would stop, like problems I wish they'll come at once and would stop coming for good.
"Ahhhhh!!" I shouted to let out my frustrations
I gathered my feet and folded my knees close to my chest and hug it and rest my head on my arms…
"I think I only have a designated rain cloud and not a sun, I'm always under a downpour…" I whispered to myself…
Oh?! The rain stopped?! That quick?! I raised my head and there's a man in a suit holding an umbrella but I couldn't see his face clearly, it could be Yang…
"That couldn't be possibly true…" his voice was very familiar
YUAN Mendez's POV
I couldn't open my eyes and I feel like dreaming and I heard this voice I longed to hear…
"Yuan… Han… I'm really sorry, if I could only switch our places, I would have done that… please wake up now…"
I don't know if was just dreaming but it was Ivy's voice that I heard…
"Han, I'll be waiting come back to me soon…"
It felt so real, I even felt her lips on my forehead…
Was I dreaming?
When I opened my eyes, I was in an unfamiliar place and I couldn't move much but I was holding onto this blue handkerchief.
"Mom, where am I?"
"We're at a hospital in Canada…"
"Canada?"
"Yuan… You've been asleep for 2 months…"
Then I tried to recall everything that has happened
"Where's Ivy?"
"I don't know and don't look for her you should just focus on your therapy!!!"
"Mom!"
"She didn't even look for you and took care of you so why should you care for her?!"
Did she really not look for me?
For 6 months I focused on my physical therapy because when I woke up I couldn't even move my legs when I got a lot better I really wondered if she has forgotten about me because she never called me she never reads my emails too so I was starting to believe my mom.
I saw the blue handkerchief on the desk drawer, I remember I was holding it when I woke up, I took it and became curious because it wasn't mine…
I spread over the handkerchief and saw an embroidered lotus on the lower right corner.
Then I remembered, Ivy's handkerchiefs had embroidered Lotus on them…
"She was here…"
"Mom!!! Mom!!"
"What?!"
"You lied to me, right?! Ivy was here!!!"
"Are you in contact with her?"
"So, you lied…"
"I was just protecting you son…"
"protecting me from what?"
"I almost lost you because of her!!!"
"It wasn't her fault!!"
"Wasn't it her mom that did this?"
"Haven't you seen the articles? It wasn't her biological mom but her mom's twin, she was just a victim too!!" I said
"See for yourself…" I gave her my phone
When I first saw the article, I almost couldn't believe what I saw, she must've been heart broken all over again. How could that possibly happen to her? I mean how could a twin kill her own sibling just because she was jealous of what she has. It was really terrible…
"Yuan, I'm sorry, I told her to never come looking for you again I threatened her that I would file a restraining order."
"Mom!!"
"I'm really sorry… I misunderstood things… I didn't want you to have a connection with someone whose family is a mess, I never thought she went through all this…"
"Yuan, when she woke up from a coma she went looking for you then I told her to stop but she didn't listen and even went here just to make sure you're fine, then I shove her off again I think I might have said something that hurt her that's why this time she listened to me."
After a conversation with my mom I immediately emailed Ivan and gladly he replied…

Bro!! I'm so glad you're finally well!! How long have you regained consciousness? It's true that Yin and I came over Canada but your mom said some things to her and threatened her with a restraining order. She told me it might get difficult for you if we kept on tailing you because your mom would transfer you from a hospital to another hospital so she told me we should just follow your mother's wish. I guess the reason why she never answered your email was because she changed into a new one. Should I tell her to check you mails?

I've regained consciousness 6 months ago but I couldn't go home because I'm taking PT sessions here because when I woke up, I couldn't move my legs. Please keep our conversation a secret for now…

Okay… anyway, East coast Resort will have an Anniversary 2 weeks from now hope you could come.
Just the right time when I'll finish my PT sessions. I'll be able to see her again…
Just right after my last session I flew back home and the day Ivan and Ivy flew to the resort I met with Ivan for a moment and gave him a gift I wanted to give Ivy after I came back from Dubai. I told Ivan to give her this on the anniversary day of the resort and tell her it was from a friend of his.
I was there the whole event watching her from a far… I'm so glad she's alive and well, beautiful as ever…
"And to a special person who's been through a lot because of me, thank you and I miss you…"
I miss you too…
After she came down from the stage, she went missing so I approached Ivan.
"Have you seen Ivy?"
"She said she's going to check on something and went outside"
"Okay, I'll go look for her…"
As I was looking outside it started to rain, good thing I saw a staff carrying and umbrella so I asked him if he could lend it to me so I could look for Ivy.
She could be at the beach so I kept on walking until I finally saw her sitting down on the sand hugging her knees and resting her face on her arms…
I moved the umbrella to cover her from the rain. Then I sat down with her… finally I'm with the other half of my heart. I'll stand with her even in the strongest downpour.
YIN IVY LEE's POV
Then he sat down beside me and when he looked at me my heart skipped several beats and couldn't believe my eyes…
"I believe each person has a designated rain cloud and a designated sun, they all should come in balance, a person shouldn't get drenched alone under a downpour, isn't it better if you're with someone so you can share what you feel? that's why I came…"
I just looked at him puzzled, but my heart is jumping out of happiness…
"I didn't know you'll be here waiting in the rain…"
Those loving eyes I longed to see…
"You told me to come back soon, I'm sorry it took me a while…"
he took out something from his coat, it was the blue handkerchief I left on his hand…
he ran the handkerchief on the temple of my head to wipe the water dripping…
"You have it…"
"I held onto this"
"Yuan, I'm sorry you went through a lot because of me…"
"Shhhh… It wasn't your fault, compared to what you've been through mine wasn't even a quarter…"
"But still, I must have hurt your family because they almost lost you…"
"But they didn't, so you don't have to blame yourself…"
He touched my face
"Sapphire suits you, it was a great choice…" he smiled looking at the necklace I was wearing.
"wait… you were the one who bought this?"
"I asked Ivan to give it to you without telling you who it came from, I wanted to surprise you…"
"Yuan…"
"Shall we start all over again?" he smiled
He raised a hand to offer a hand shake…
"Hi! I'm Yuan Mendez I might be lacking in some ways but I am ready to get drenched on the rain and stand in a downpour with you…"
He's that sunshine after all the rain clouds that has passed my life.
"Hello, I'm Yin Ivy Lee, I just got freed from all my traumas and I might not be very stable yet but I promise to love you unconditionally…"
He smiled at me and touched my face
"I love you Byeol…" he touched my face gently and gave me a kiss, it was passionate and I felt loved.
Then he gave me a hug, I miss this the most, his warmth, his scent, his presence, his smile, everything about him Is all I longed for… We just sat there looking at the beach the whole time.
Then he whispered into my ears.
"I'm so happy to spend the rest of my life with you, whether on the sunniest day or the greatest downpour of your life I'll stand with you… This is a start of our eternity"
