As someone with a status of an inherited millionaire, I'm broke as hell.
Okay, there's not such a thing as a broke millionaire. The word "MILLIONAIRE" is literally written there. You won't even believe me, I'm sure of it. So take it with a grain of salt.
That utopia of a dealership squeezed every single last drop of today's savings. I didn't know what to get, nor have any idea what should I do onward. I believe that driver must have been trolling to throw us out at the most luxurious block in Dubai.
I'm just a lone man, not a whole gigantic movie studio with an unlimited budget. Even telling this story has me on the edge of the production budget, so bear with the quality regardless.
The four-wheeler coffin carrier that caught my eyes didn't like what it seemed, the most sane-looking car amongst the others here. It cost me my fortune, just above one million dollars. And yes, it's a fudging normal FAMILY CAR, a wagon, complete with a third-row seat and curtains for the comfy passenger.
With only us two, what's all the spacey space even used for, other than to add vegetative passengers and start a whole cartel business? I can't imagine anything more suitable than those jobs.
But, what choice do I have? This is the most typical-looking vehicle, like any other normal person has, in Dubai at least.
As an active resource producer country, oil and Emiranite ore aren't an issue to find. Petrol cars are still produced in the Middle East, thanks to the cheaper oil price than producing electricity from those ores. Hence, petrol cars are still roaming in this part of the world.
Besides, don't wanna attract the authority's attention with fancy-looking ones.
Still, after taking it out to the highway, the word "normal" has a relative meaning.
"DANI! THE ROAD!"
"Oh, shi--"
The vehicles in front suddenly stopped. I hit the brake as hard as I could while lowering the gear for an engine brake. With only a mere strike of luck, I was able to swerve to the other lane, only to be greeted by another car coming from behind.
Almost crashing, again…
For a decorative car manufactured by the same brand of instant noodles more than a hundred years ago, surely the high-performance specs sucked the passenger's support system, both financially and mentally after that close call.
Good thing Sasha only suffers a mental breakdown with her widened eyes and panting breath, clutching onto the door handle as hard as possible. Not having to drain her pennies for little siblings back home. Not for me though.
Fastened pulse, holding my breath, and trembling hands on the steering. I gulped down my saliva before continuing.
"Are you sure you can drive?? Why did you even take the most ancient one?!" Sasha almost gagged up with her pale face. I nod earnestly.
"I've played some classic games and real-life action movies, and I'm familiar with this kind of car. Don't worry about it." I lied easily as I breathe out the air. As expected, a loud clicking noise is out her tongue.
"…That doesn't sound very convincing… Ugh… I'm sick of near-death experiences over and over again." She flopped to the dashboard. "What's with the sudden braking…"
"Shh… Don't say that. Don't wanna the readers complain about reusing the same driving scene for the third time now!"
"Who??"
Sasha abruptly sprang back up. Dumping her puzzled look at me. Chuckling nervously, I turned away from her.
Well, not that she'll be able to make sense of my ramblings if I were to explain it to her.
And you! Readers or watchers or anyone at home, even if it cringes, just bear with it. Bear with the unfunny-wall-piercing jokes, yeah? Just, have mercy as I tweak my brain to escape from my Father while rearranging words in my mind.
Since the authorities might be occupying the roads around the airport and the city center, I think it might be a good idea to get further away from Dubai. Going up North to the next city, to the land border. Hopefully, there's a port open in the next country to cross the strait and take another flight on the other side.
That's the plan on paper. Easier said than done, of course, everyone knows that. The fact is…
"I just took a wrong turn…"
"Are you kidding me? In this busy traffic?" As fast as a clap of thunder, Sasha whipped her eyes at me.
I nod, "I mean… just look at it!" She followed my pointed finger, to the LCD screen in the middle, "What the hell is that even? A cotton ball? A wired comms module?"
"Good grief… At least, we're still going steadily." She huffed, staring at the skyscrapers in the distance, "Strange, we haven't come across any of those enforcers again. Did they easily give up?"
I didn't reply. Instead, my OHD scans the surroundings, "Yeah, not even a drone. I think they really are only focusing on the area around the airport back there. Besides, with a road this crowded, I doubt they'll be able to tail us. Worst case, we're the ones who run into them first." I honked as I'm trying to increase my speed.
"What if, someday you really can't go back home?" She side glanced at me, leaning on the seat limply. "Like, you'll be dead if you step foot into your mansion or even the plane you're riding land and enter German."
"…That's the case here, you know?" I sighed, "And that's why I'm here, Sasha. You don't have to stick your nose around me. You're better off without me, anyway." A bridge was unveiled before our eyes, and I slowed down like any other vehicle.
"Tch, you said that, but I also need to get back, you know! How else other than having to be stuck with you now?"
"You could've just gone on your own after we off that taxi. Back to the airport, communicate with a translator, and book your own flight, back to your family. Even as much as I hate Father, he still keeps his word and doesn't want to trouble people financially. So make sure to ask for a reimbursement."
"That's not it…"
Her voice floats off as we look at the sight in confusion. A traffic jam formed in front of us, on the bridge out of nowhere. The traffic was fine until the last second. There was a loud thumping noise somewhere from the front. Maybe an accident just occurred there.
But, why they got panic in the first place?
Suddenly people get off their cars and run back. Leaving their cars on this bridge. At the same time, I can feel a faint shake crawling all over the place. Sasha also noticed it and throw a glance at me. what's going on?
I hastily tune the car's LCD screen to any broadcast program airing. Not for long, my comms module on my ear catch the foreign words spouted by the announcer. Transmitting the translation straight to my ears.

*PING!*

A red notification popped up on my OHD at the same time. Covering my vision with repeated alerts. The announcement and the notification are all coming together as to why people are like this.
Of course not even a drone following us, when something big is happening right now. A mere fugitive is nothing compared to the lives of the whole country. A threat on a national scale might be unveiled at this very moment.
I misread the situation again.
"A Kaiju is approaching!"
"Huh? W-What? Right now? Out of nowhere??"
I nod, "Dunno where's a safe place for you. It's already too late to follow them now. Useless." I decrypted the entire right armpiece, "Stay in the car! Don't even dare to open it!" I warned her after stepping outside.
An announcement is usually issued 15 minutes before the predicted rampage occurs. But with the alarming notifications on the OHD that came just now, that means I completely missed all of that, and whatever it is coming, is already close to us.
Fudge, this is bad, so fricking bad.
At this time of rush hour moreover.
With how chaotic right now, I could just use this chance to slip away and go on my own. Not giving any care to anything during this perfect opportunity. But, no way I can leave this place in time before the abomination makes an appearance on this closed road full of cars.
Really, I don't have much of a choice, right?
While any sane person would be rushing out their way from the bridge, it's safe to say I'm the one who's not right in the head to try and test the danger instead. It's already hard to move around with these crowded gaps, let alone start to exert some energy and heat on this armpiece.
A big wave of water suddenly rises to my left. This is it, it's coming. I don't have much time left.
I jump on top of a car, watching a big wave splash come at the bridge, right in my direction. I charge up the energy on my right fist. Whatever appears behind this wall of water, I'll just have to discharge the destructive energy straight at it. By then, a violent stream of yellow impulses has engulfed my right arm.
"Overclo-"
And right at that moment, three serpent heads were revealed before my eyes. Bearing their fangs in my direction.
There's no way I can take them out with one fist, let alone protect these people.
*CRASH!*
One blink, and the eyes of those heads are already destroyed with a piercing strike in one movement. Residual green impulses are formed in a straight path, trailing to the assailant like a fallen meteor.
I canceled the energy discharge. The impulses disappeared. Instead, in awe of the scene that I see.
A Ravager holding onto her spear stabbed the Kaiju's eyes deeply. Planting her feet on its head firmly. Her emerald eyes are coldly looking back in my direction with her blonde hair swayed by the gushing wind.
Suddenly it shakes its head violently to throw her off in all directions. She grasps the handle tightly, gnashing her teeth in the struggle to keep her body on balance. Planting her feet on its head. Stabbing the spear even deeper, the beast screeches even louder.
The other heads burst out of the water after the loud noise. Another five in total are rushing forward, ignoring her struggle.
"Odin!"
The ground trembling. The windshield shaking. My footing became unbalanced. As soon as she shouted, all of those heads are already severed in a blink of an eye.
Over there, a grey mech is hovering above the water, with a double blade blazing with energy bursting on both edges. Gently protecting the little Ravager on its wide shoulder plate. Glancing back at the beast with its lifeless green mono eye.
I know my eyes aren't deceiving me this entire time. Because, the only one who can wield such a caliber, is one of the strongest Ravagers. Maybe even the coolest of them all in my opinion
The Pilot.
I mean, come on, who doesn't like a giant robot that goes pew pew and whoosh zing-ing?
*CLANG!*
Her spear suddenly landed in front of my eyes, almost dividing my body if I weren't stepping back in time.
"Wipe that grin off your face. Get ready and lend me some hand, idiot!" She jumped down from the mech, squishing an empty car below her.
When I said the coolest, well, I think you know why…
"And stop self-narrating everything with your mind." …and she threw a rock at my head after that.
