Trial (9)

[A/N: I'm now back from the exams, I'm just now waiting for the results of the exam in a few days, just wish me luck to get a high score on this exam.]

"Just try to sink into one's martial spirit?" Xu Shuang muttered to herself as she sat with crossed legs in the infirmary.

Just as she was about to try what Sam suggested to her, the door opened and Ye Lingling walked in while pushing a trolley with hot porridge resting on top of it.

She then took a chair and sat beside Xu Shuang's bed as she scooped a spoonful of hot porridge and blew air on it to cool down, Ye Lingling then put the spoon in front of Xu Shuang and smiled.

"Here, have some porridge, it's freshly cooked with good medicinal ingredients inside."

"You could just leave the spoon, Lingling, I can still eat by myself." Xu Shuang smiled wryly as she tried to reject Ye Lingling's spoon and eat on her own.

"No, you are injured so just obediently stay in your bed and let me feed you." Ye Lingling 'smiled' again.

"But-"

"No buts."

After saying that Ye Lingling didn't give Xu Shuang any more time to think as she took the moment when Xu Shuang opened her mouth to shove the spoonful of porridge inside.

Then she took a bite of her own food, then gave Xu Shuang another spoonful of porridge, in this manner the food on the trolley quickly bottomed out, leaving two empty plates on it.

" Take a good rest inside, you should not rush in fighting that dragon. And don't try to sneak out to train." Ye Lingling warned as she pushed the trolley out of the room.

Xu Shuang smiled helplessly inside the room, she then quickly adjusted her position back into a crossed-leg position with the five hearts pointing to the sky.

She then summoned her martial spirit and started to meditate, she then tried sinking into her martial spirit, but Xu Shuang found out that no matter what she did, her martial spirit didn't want to communicate with her at all.

Xu Shuang then opened her eyes to look at her martial spirit and couldn't help but asked. " Why are you not speaking?"

But, as if it can hear her words, Tinkaton gave her a roll of its eyes and refused to look at her.

' What just happened Sam?!' Xu Shuang asked in shock when she saw what Tinkaton just did.

[Mistress, it's normal for your martial spirit to react to your words, a person's martial spirit is completely conscious, and although it's hard for them to express it, it does not help that their intelligence is equivalent to a child.]

'What? Why am I only hearing about this just now?!'

[If the mistress ever paid attention to class instead of relying on me in every academic exam, then you would have heard of this from your teacher.]

Sam ended her explanation with a slightly annoyed voice at the very end of her last sentence, but no matter how little this time frame was, Xu Shuang still caught on it, so she asked.

'Sam, you've become more, how should I say it? More spiritual I guess, as if you've become more alive than before.'

[ It's because every time the mistress gets a major upgrade in level such as going from level 50 to 51, I will also get upgraded with you.]

'I see, well, let's head back to trying to communicate with my martial spirit.'

With that said, Xu Shuang went back to trying to communicate with her martial spirit, but just like before, no matter what she did her martial spirit simply didn't want to talk to her.

"Why don't you want to talk?" Xu Shuang asked tiredly as it has already been two hours since she tried doing this.

'I don't want to talk to you, you're a meanie.' While she was thinking of ways to get her martial spirit to speak, she suddenly heard a cute childish voice from deep within her.

"What do you mean by that? I obviously never been mean to you." Xu Shuang asked feeling that her martial spirit didn't make sense since she never treated herself badly.

'You are so mean, except for the first two meals you gave me, the other two after that tasted not good.' The cute voice once again resounded from her body causing her to be speechless once more.

"What food did you eat anyway and why do you say that it tasted bad?" Xu Shuang then asked when she noticed that the word food in the voice's sentence.

'That spirit rings you gave me, only the first two tasted delicious, the other two tasted horrible.' The voice complained like a child complaining to its parents about eating vegetables.

Its sentence caught Xu Shuang's attention, so she started to think, what were the two characteristics of the first two spirit beasts that it was able to attract her martial spirit's attention.

But, when she took a closer look, she then realized that both spirit beasts were of the metal element other than the strength attribute.

With Tinkaton being a steel/fairy-type Pokemon it would make sense for it to like the metal element from those two spirit beasts.

She still has no idea about what the fairy typing will add or what spirit beasts are suitable for that type, so she simply decided to go the simple way and asked her martial spirit.

"So, now that you are talking, do you like metal spirit beasts because of your steel typing? Then what would you need to absorb for the fairy typing? If you answer this question I'll make that metal dragon outside our fifth spirit ring, it should taste delicious for you."

'Metal Dragon! Want! Want! Go! Fight Metal Dragon! Me Want!' Tinkaton immediately shouted when it heard that Xu Shuang will absorb the metal dragon for her.

"Answer my question first before we go fighting that dragon." Xu Shuang demanded seeing that the Tinktaton was so excited by what she said.

'Okay! My fairy typing will grow by itself when I absorbed spirit rings naturally since the fairy attribute is linked with the life element, and absorbing the life force inside the spirit ring is more than enough for me.'

'Now! Go Fight Metal Dragon!' It immediately shouted again once it was done explaining to Xu Shuang.

[Tinkaton: Give Power stones! Now! Me hungry!]
