"Another century-old spirit ring!" the crowd exclaimed.
Among those present, including Tang San, every student was focused on watching Lan Si and Xiao Wu, eager to see them fight. Their eyes were filled with excitement; battles between spirit masters were rare.
Tang San looked at Lan Si's spirit ring, a hint of seriousness in his eyes. He had killed the Black Mamba snake using the Silent Sleeve Dart and Tang Sect techniques, so how did Lan Si acquire his century-old spirit ring?
"Make your move," Lan Si said calmly, gesturing toward Xiao Wu.
Xiao Wu bit her lip, and with a sudden kick off the ground, she leaped toward Lan Si.
Lan Si knew she wanted to engage in close combat, which she was most skilled at. Though he wasn't afraid, he certainly wouldn't let her have her way. He threw out his Green Lotus, aiming directly at Xiao Wu's face.
Taking advantage of the moment when the Green Lotus obstructed Xiao Wu's view, Lan Si quickly disappeared from his spot.
Xiao Wu hadn't expected Lan Si's martial spirit to be used like Tang San's hidden weapons. If the Green Lotus hit her, it wouldn't be a severe injury, but her delicate face would definitely suffer. She flipped backward twice in midair, retreating to the ground. When she looked again, Lan Si was nowhere to be seen.
"Xiao Wu, watch out behind you!" Tang San, who had been watching quietly, suddenly shouted.
Xiao Wu heard the warning and quickly dodged.
The next moment, a fist brushed past her ear, the force of the punch hurting her eardrum.
"You jerk!"
"First spirit ability: Waist Bow!"
Yet another sneak attack. Xiao Wu couldn't take it anymore. As her braid swung out and she leaped again, the yellow ring on her body instantly lit up.
Lan Si smirked. This was precisely what he had been waiting for.
He dodged Xiao Wu's braid, his yellow spirit ring lighting up almost simultaneously.
"First spirit ability: Green Lotus Assault!"
The Green Lotus, which Lan Si had thrown into the air, split into eight blades, stabbing toward Xiao Wu.
"Ah!" Xiao Wu screamed. Having just used her first spirit ability, she was now in midair with no way to dodge the eight blades coming at her. All she could do was close her eyes in fright.
The onlooking students were shocked, their mouths forming an "O" shape. If she got hit, she'd be riddled with holes.
Could she survive that?
Tang San also looked serious. He activated his Purple Demon Eyes and reached for his waist.
Although he hadn't yet made a vow with Xiao Wu to become siblings and protect each other, her liveliness and cuteness had already touched his heart. He couldn't just stand by and watch her get hurt.
As Tang San reached for his waist, intending to retrieve a hidden weapon from his Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges to alter the trajectory of Lan Si's blades, he noticed through his Purple Demon Eyes that Lan Si's blades had suddenly changed their path.
"Swish, swish..."
A series of piercing sounds filled the air. Xiao Wu was pinned to the ground in a starfish shape. Her braid and sleeves were pinned by the Green Lotus blades, while three other blades hovered threateningly near her throat and eyes.
Seeing this, the entire training ground fell into a deathly silence.
A moment later, Lan Si broke the silence and said, "Well, little rabbit, do you admit defeat?"
Xiao Wu was pale with fear. Realizing the pain she expected hadn't come, she opened her eyes and saw the blades hovering mere inches from her face and throat. Terrified, she blurted out, "I admit defeat! Take these things away!"
Lan Si waved his hand, and the eight blades returned to him, merging back into his Green Lotus martial spirit.
He glanced at Xiao Wu and Tang San, then without another word, turned and walked toward the dining hall. He was starving, having not eaten all day.
Watching Lan Si leave, the students were silent for a moment until Xiao Chenyu broke the silence, exclaiming, "Impressive! Who is this new student? He's even stronger than Xiao Wu. Let's go! From now on, he's our boss."
Lan Si had effortlessly defeated Xiao Wu, so Xiao Chenyu abandoned the idea of calling Xiao Wu "Big Sis" and led the senior students to follow Lan Si eagerly.
They left the work-study students behind, still in shock.
Tang San approached Xiao Wu, confirming she wasn't hurt. After a few comforting words, he hurried toward the dormitory.
He needed to consult his teacher, Yu Xiaogang. Why was Lan Si, who was supposedly a support-type, able to have such a powerful offensive skill? This aroused Tang San's curiosity.
Tang San even felt that Lan Si's spirit ability seemed tailored for a disciple of the Tang Sect. If combined with Tang Sect's hidden weapon techniques, even he, a self-proclaimed genius trained in Tang Sect skills, would have trouble defending against it.
The academy's training ground wasn't far from the dining hall. Lan Si finished his lunch and, after brushing off Xiao Chenyu and the others, went to the academy's library.
He already had plans for the coming years: training the Sacred Universe Technique and Five Thunder Heart Technique at night to hone his spirit power, undergoing physical training during the day, practicing martial arts moves associated with the Sacred Universe Technique and Five Thunder Heart Technique, studying spirit master theory, and working at a blacksmith shop.
His second martial spirit was a hammer, so he needed to master the corresponding hammer techniques. Tang San's Disorder Splitting Wind Hammer Method was the best option. By observing Tang San's blacksmithing, he could learn it.
However, all of this would have to wait until Tang San started working at the blacksmith shop.
Meanwhile, Tang San had returned to Yu Xiaogang's residence.
Having been poisoned by the Black Mamba snake while helping Tang San acquire a spirit ring, Yu Xiaogang was still bedridden, unable to move.
Seeing Tang San return, Yu Xiaogang asked with a smile, "What's wrong, Xiao San? Did you complete your spirit master registration already?"
Tang San walked over to the table, poured a cup of hot tea for Yu Xiaogang, and asked respectfully, "Teacher, I just saw Lan Si's first spirit ability."
"Oh?" Yu Xiaogang replied, taking the tea and blowing on it confidently. "So, is it a power-amplifying or healing ability?"
Tang San shook his head. "Neither. It's a powerful offensive ability. He can turn the Green Lotus into eight flying knives to attack the enemy. It's extremely fast, and for an ordinary spirit master with just one ring, unless they are defense-type, it's almost impossible to defend against."
Yu Xiaogang's expression stiffened, and he quickly asked, "What color is his spirit ring?"
"A yellow, century-old spirit ring," Tang San replied.
Yu Xiaogang's face twitched. Recalling how he had confidently advised Lan Si to absorb a 90-year-old Saint Wood spirit ring, his cheeks grew hot. He felt like he had been slapped in the face.
Damn it. If he had known, he wouldn't have taken Lan Si to the Soul Beast Hunting Forest.
