spirit awakening part 1

it was the day before we would have our spirits awakened and I was making my way over to tang hao, the blacksmiths, house. no I was not on my way to see tang san. that infuriating man treating me like a child when im mentally probably the same age as him ugj he makes me so mad when he gives me that look as though he were my grandpa indulging whatever I say. sigh why does he always get me so worked up.

the road was dirty and uneven. the grass long and unkempt. the road to the blacksmiths house was not the most beautiful thing in the world but when you take into acount that I'm used to the paved pathways of the 21st century then the road isn't as decrepit as it appears to be.

I made my way up to the shabby looking door and raised my delicate hand and took a moment before knocking and waiting for someone to answer the door.

after a short while I heard footsteps coming from inside. sigh not everyone can be as perfect as me with my ninja training. after a short shuffle behind the door I came face to face with tang san.

he looked at me with his expression of bewilderment enough to communicate that he was curious as to why I was standing on his door step.

" why are you here I thought the awakening was not until tomorrow?"

I looked at him for a moment before responding.

" what I couldn't have just come to see you"

he rolled his eyes at me and who taught him to make such a disrespectful gesture. what happened to my well behaved follower. where did all the manners instilled to him by the tang sect run off to. when I find whoever taught him such a disrespectful gesture ill pummel them.

"cough cough well you have never come over before and we have known each other for years now"

i sighed in exasperation and rolled my eyes at him. god this kid. I just cant with him sometimes.

" well if you know that I'm not here to see you then who else would i be looking for"

another eye roll from me and a tick mark appeared on his head.

in tang sans head ' how dare this brat roll her eyes at me when i was being so cordial. sigh let it go tang san she's only six years old"

if jin could read tang sans mind right now he would have smacked him once for calling him a brat. he would have smacked him a second time for being so disrespectful to someone of the same mental age, not that tang san would know anything about that. and he would have blanched at the idea that tang san really thought he was a girl.

" im here to see tang wu to pick up something i ordered about a month ago"

tang san made a face of recognition and walked in to get a plain wooden box before coming out and handing it to me. I took it and open the lid to check on the content inside. with a satisfied smirk I closed the lid and then went back home to wait for the ceremony tomorrow.

tang san watched jin walk away before shaking his head and wondering if jin even knew how to use the items in the box. he closed the door and went off to finish whatever he had planned before heading off to bed for an early sleep since the ceremony was tomorrow. he still wasnt quite sure what all was involved in an awakening ceremony seeing as how his dad never mentioned spirit tools or cultivation in front of him. with tang haos real background and the reason for them ending up in this small rural village the fact that tang san is rather ignorant of the world is understandable.

the next day jin and old jack came and picked up tang san for the awakening ceremony. tang san made himself presentable with his hair combed and his clothes while plain were clean. jin on the other hand hardly had to put any effort since that wish from God made it possible for him to wake up out of bed and walk a fashion runway at any moment with no need to freshen up. sigh life was unfair to those who had to put effort in their appearance.

they slowly made their way to the center of the village into the best looking building which considering the conditions of some of these houses wasn't saying much.

at the front of the building were a gathering of children the same age here to have their spirit awakened and their parents. once we got to the front old jack told us about how our village got its name and that hopefully we will now be able to continue in the footsteps of our founder and walk the road of a spirit cultivator.

once all the children were gathered we made our way into the building with a representative of the spirit hall where we would have our aptitude tested and anyone usefull will be abducted cough cough persuaded to join spirit hall and any one who wasn't as good would either end up going to the local spirit school or more likely live a life with no cultivation like their parents in this small village.
