Chapter 39: Killing hundred year old soul beasts like they're chickens

Xiu Ye continued walking around the entire forest in a casual manner for an entire half an hour.

And that several minutes he has already encountered 20, hundred year old soul beasts, which he all killed with only one single sword strike.

Speed type soul beasts? Oh please, compared to Ryūjin Jakka, who can use Flash Steps, they were all moving at a snail's pace. If he wanted to fight and defeat his zanpakutō one day he has to at least trained his eyes, reaction speed and instincts so he could follow the spirit's movements and counterattack.

Control type soul beasts that can trapped him? Burn them and then slice them.

The other type of soul beasts were all the same, they got killed in a single slice.

By now, his spirit soul should have 300 years of cultivation age with all the soul beasts he killed in thirty minutes.

Of course at first he didn't believe what his subordinate had said, and thought he was exaggerating.

He was wrong. Oh so very wrong.

But this? This boy Xiu Ye's talent with the sword is something he hadn't seen in his entire lifetime. He had only seen this level of swordsmanship and levelheadedness from a soul emperor, once.

Except that man used the power of ice and snow, while this boy Xiu Ye only used fire.

Hua Wei turned towards a certain brunette. "Shu Lengwei, tell me, who is this boy and what of his origins?"

Shu Lengwei wasn't a second late to respond, this was her boss after all, she didn't want to disappoint him. "Sir! He's name is Xiu Ye, nine years old and is currently attending Eastsea City's Academy as a first grader and in class one. According to our database sir, Xiu Ye is an orphan who was then adopted in the same city he lived by man name Mang Tian. He awakened with innate full soul power and a flame sword type martial soul, which we currently see."

"With innate full soul power and his background, Xiu Ye was provided with a first free spirit soul which was strangely an Thunder Hammer, an incompatible spirit soul for his martial soul. A rare lightning type spirit soul that the organization has trouble making, but due to it being an inorganic artificial spirit soul that can only developed its intelligence when it ever evolves into the hundred thousand year level, it was put into storage into a random Spirit Pagoda Branch."

"For three years he remained in Red Mountain Academy, a elementary school in Glorybound City, then he transfered here with his cousin to continue his studies. From his form, he is currently rank 19 with his soul power and a spiritual power of 33 but the latter was last checked three years ago when he first got his spirit soul."

'He's a genius!' Hua Wei and everyone else in the room thought simultaneously as they listened to the boy's background information.

Even Shu Lengwei was surprised when she heard the information of the little boy she was escorting was such a genius.

Hua Wei's eyes lit up, a plan forming inside his head.

He was currently sitting on top of a large rock, at least one meter tall, and he was observing the probable thousand year old soul beast presence 30 meters northwest his current location.

Xiu Ye was planning on how he was going to approach the soul beast until he felt a sudden ominous feeling.

"What the heck did I just sensed right now?" He narrowed his eyes, thinking that a powerful soul beast was spying on him from afar.

He quickly dismissed that thought out. For soul beasts to be that intelligent and wise to patiently observed its prey long is if it's a thousand or ten thousand year old soul beast.

The former would be feasible and latter being impossible, as there was no ten thousand year old soul beast in this level and they only lived in the intermediate spirit ascension platform.

"That leaves a thousand year old soul beast. Did that soul beast I'm observing sensed me? If so, it would have already moved towards my direction and kill me. But it's still silently chilling in its spot ever since I've spotted it. Or is it playing smart by trying to ignore me so I can get close to it, my guard slightly lowered, and get the jump on me?" Xiu Ye continued sitting on the rock in deep thought as he analyzed the possible moves of the soul beast.

It was smart. Trying to play off as a lazy animal, well I ain't falling for that buddy! Xiu Ye snorted. Impressed at the strategic play of the soul beast.

'Or, what you felt was came from your sense 'of getting into future unlucky situation' and that your overestimating the soul beast as well instead.' Ryūjin Jakka said.
