Chapter 53 — Nine Mysterious Treasure Pagoda, Formation, and Moon Pavilion.
Ning Chen opened his eyes, feeling his temples throbbing painfully. He was also feeling ravenous, his stomach growling heavily.
He wanted to quickly eat nutritious food and replenish his energy, but looking around the unfamiliar room, he slowly remembered what happened before.
Ning Chen sat on the bed and noticed Ning Rongrong sitting at a chair next to him while sleeping peacefully.
He smiled faintly, seeing her sleeping so cutely made him develop some feelings to tease her.
He touched her soft cheeks and then pinched it, causing Ning Rongrong to soon wake up from her sleep.
She looked at Ning Chen, her eyes widening largely. Instead of feeling angry, however, she looked extremely worried. It was enough to make Ning Chen feel guilty about disturbing her peaceful sleep.
"Big bro! Are now feeling okay? You were asleep for two days!"
She exclaimed loudly.
Ning Chen was quite stunned upon learning that. He didn't expect that he would fall unconscious for two entire days just to evolve his sister's martial spirit.
And it felt like he would always be completely drained every time he used his scabbard's second ability...
"Don't worry too much. I'm fine, just feeling slightly dizzy and hungry," Ning Chen reassured Ning Rongrong with a smile.
His vigor was completely depleted even still now, needing to be quickly replenish by eating a large quantity of food or cultivating natural energy.
Ning Chen opted to devour foods, however, he currently endured this hunger because he was curious about something.
"Your martial spirit evolved, right? What happened toward It?" Ning Chen asked with his eyes inspecting Ning Rongrong's appearance.
It was obvious that her appearance was the first thing that changed.
And his thoughts were correct.
"The first thing I noticed is my appearance experiencing some minor changes, making people surprised whenever they saw me, but they eventually got used to it."
Ning Rongrong said with a tired expression, to show how troublesome it was.
Ning Chen nodded, feeling that more men were most likely to go chase after his sister, but as her big brother, he won't let anyone easily approach her.
They must first prove themselves and it was him who will determine if they were worthy.
Ning Rongrong then continued explaining.
"My spirit rank also rose greatly, now reaching rank 37. However, the biggest improvement are both my body and mind, growing significantly because of the vast amount of energy that entered my body."
"Hmm, that's a good thing indeed," Ning Chen was glad that him getting sucked dry at least proved to be beneficial toward his sister's foundation.
"What about your spirit?" Ning Chen asked the thing he wanted to hear the most. He remembered seeing her spirit changing, but it was only for a short moment.
Ning Rongrong placed her palm forward and a transparent crystal pagoda soon hovered above it.
It was glowing with warm, gentle lights and Ning Chen saw the pagoda first three floors were glowing with unique colours.
The first floor was slightly glowing with crimson light, the second floor being green and third floor being blue.
"This is the Nine Mysterious Treasure Pagoda and after evolving, the effects of my spirit ring's abilities permanently increased by 20% and also gaining the ability to give elemental resistance to others," Ning Rongrong explained, her proud smile not being able to contain itself.
Ning Chen was astonished and felt that his sister was now a true monster when it came to supporting others. He had also realized her martial spirit was now quite similar to his own sword spirit.
Ning Rongrong then pointed her finger toward the first floor of the pagoda, it had the design of a world filled with dancing, scorching flames.
"The first floor is called Flame Pagoda, it can amplify the strength of others by 60% and give them temporary 50% flame resistance."
Ning Rongrong then explained the second floor was the Wind Pagoda, able to amplify the agility of others by 60% and give them wind/air resistance.
The third floor was the Water Pagoda, able to amplify the spirit power of other by 60% and give them water/ice resistance.
Ning Chen was amazed upon learning her new abilities. He couldn't help but feel proud and happy for his sister.
"You've grown much stronger. Now, you're the best supporting-type spirit master and no one can match with you," Ning Chen said while patting her head.
"Hehe. It's all thanks to brother for evolving my spirit! Now, I will able to support everyone more better!" Ning Rongrong said while enjoying Ning Chen's warm hand.
Ning Chen smiled and then abruptly flicked her forehead, causing Ning Rongrong to cry in pain.
"It's not only me, you also did well."
"Big Bro..." Ning Rongrong was happy hearing that and quickly hugged her brother tightly.
Growl...
However, his stomach soon growled loudly yet again, causing Ning Chen to laugh awkwardly.
"Shall we eat first?" Ning Chen asked while smiling.
Ning Rongrong quickly nodded while giggling lightly. The two of them soon left the academy to eat at a fancy, expensive restaurant.
...
It has been several weeks since Ning Chen had evolved Ning Rongrong's spirit, making their clan finally have a method to surpass their limitations and soar through the sky, free from any shackles.
However, this was still only merely a dream that would probably take decades to become true.
Ning Chen was currently inside the Imperial Academy. In fact, he holed himself inside the library, reading and studying various books pertaining to formations and complex mathematical formulas.
In these several weeks, Ning Chen just studied inside the imperial library, forgetting about the outside world and him completely immersed in the world of formations and calculations.
He would only rest when it was time to eat, sleep and relieved himself.
As a result of this, Ning Chen was now knowledgeable about formation, already memorizing the countless symbol and characters needed with his excellent memory.
He was now currently creating his very first formation inside the library.
It was a type of sealing formation capable of storing a single object inside it, one of the most simple and easiest sealing formation.
Ning Chen's fingers moved around the air with great dexterity, glowing symbols and characters composed of spirit power appearing and being inscribed into a large expensive paper that can handle spirit power.
The paper was soon completely covered in symbols and Ning Chen stopped adding further, seeing the sealing formation was already completed.
He placed a gem above the paper and it soon got sucked inside. However, it was unfortunate this kind of formation was only capable of storing one object, but the good thing was It didn't needed spirit power to activate.
Even ordinary mortals were able to use it by just saying some commands.
Nevertheless, Ning Chen was glad to see his very first formation working properly and was satisfied to finally reached the basic rank of formation master.
He also realized there was a good effect on studying formations, it allowed him to control his spiritual force better and also refine it ever so slightly.
He could now temper his body with natural energy, his spiritual force by creating formations and refine his endless desires through his flute.
It was a complex yet also a simple way to cultivate.
Ning Chen decided to continue studying formations because he was still currently at the most basic level.
The masters of formation were amazing compared to him. They're able to quickly create formations easily, shorten the symbols needed in order to make things efficient and also create their own unique formations.
The main reason behind their success was their exceptional spiritual force and Ning Chen hoped to become like them.
Ning Chen decided to create the Energy Gathering Formation later. It was gonna take some time to create with his current skills, but It was gonna be useful for cultivating more efficiently.
It was especially true for his friends and him, who cultivated two types of energies.
However, he decided to create it later because he was studying formation for straight weeks now and needed a change of pace to relax his exhausted mind.
Ning Chen decided to visit the Moon Pavilion, but he was going to sleep to relax his mind for today and visit tomorrow.
The next morning, Ning Chen went toward the Moon Pavilion to enroll and attend their classes.
From what he knew, the classes were not that strict, so Ning Chen could choose to attend class or not whenever he wanted. It was also fine to just take one class session every day.
It was a good thing since Ning Chen had many things to also do apart from taking etiquette class.
Ning Chen walked straightly into the most bustling center of the imperial city, while still receiving many attention.
He soon stopped before a lofty building and stared at it for a moment.
It was a pavilion with five stories, which was considered very tall even in the Heaven Dou City. The first impression this pavilion gave Ning Chen was it's elegance.
The overall architecture style of the pavilion was also fairly simple and unadorned, with the horizonal inscribed wooden board only carrying two simple words, Moon Pavilion.
There weren't many people coming and going in the pavilion, but Ning Chen could tell the people passing through it were all elegantly dressed or people with beautiful manners.
It didn't mattered if they were men or women.
"So this is the Moon Pavilion..." Ning Chen mumbled softly, walking toward the pavilion.
There were two black-clothed youths standing at the side of the way. They both appeared rather handsome, but the moment Ning Chen neared them, they appeared to suddenly become ugly ducklings in front of an elegant swan.
The two youths were about to stop Ning Chen from entering, but was quickly stunned by his appearance.
They were speechless, as they quickly realized that Ning Chen unknowingly had already passed through them.
They decided to not go after Ning Chen since his refined and profound look alone made him truly look like an exalted noble.
Ning Chen found their actions to be quite strange, but didn't said anything about it.
Entering the first floor of the pavilion, the first thing Ning Chen noticed was the pleasant scent filling the air.
He looked around, noticing it came from the different kinds of orchids placed at the sides of the hall.
The halls also seemed to be made expensively and it's surroundings were littered with many ornaments made from all kinds of expensive materials.
Ning Chen walked toward the tall, wide table ahead, where several simply dressed, but equally refined young women stood straightly. On the either side of their desk were exquisite staircase, most likely leading to the upper floors.
He strolled forward, walking up to the desk and said toward the most normal-looking woman.
"Beautiful lady, I am here to enroll at this pavilion and wish to meet with the great lady, Tang Yuehue," Ning Chen said while smiling charmingly.
The young woman stared blankly at Ning Chen for a moment, her heart slowly being captured.
"You are...?" She asked elegantly after regaining her composure.
Ning Chen took out his clan token from the spatial ring and handed it toward the lady.
"I'm Ning Chen, the oldest son of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan's absolute leader."
The woman wrinkled her eyebrows, feeling Ning Chen was lying to her, but after closely examining the token, she realized she was greatly mistaken.
"P-Please wait for a moment," She bowed and hurriedly went upstairs.
And not too long now, a series of clear, resonating footsteps came from upstairs.
A middle-aged man in long purple gown soon walked down the exquisite staircase along with the woman before.
The purple-clothed man's gaze naturally fell toward Ning Chen, quickly becoming startled and soon amazed.
"Manager, he's a young master from one of the upper clan. He also wish to meet with Madam," The woman explained quickly.
The purple-clothed man nodded, his face that expressed lofty pride quickly melting away.
This was after all a place where everything depended on your status and appearance.
He approached Ning Chen and began talking with a pleasant, elegant voice.
"I'm sorry, but Madam is currently away. Can the young noble care to wait with me at the lounge?"
"Sure, I have no problem with waiting because I'm a very patient person," Ning Chen replied simply.
The two of them soon sat at the lounge, waiting for the Pavilion Head's arrival, while drinking some tea.
"May I ask what's young noble's purpose for coming here? It's not everyday for us to see someone important from the upper clans visiting us," The manager asked curiously.
"It's actually very simple. It's to enhance my charm and noble aura further as well as to improve my flute playing skills under the great Pavilion Head herself."
"I see... I'm sure young noble will learn many things because Madam is really an amazing capable person," The manager praised while smiling fanatically.
Ning Chen smirked faintly. "I sure hope so..."
The two of them waited and discussed things with each other for several minutes, but fortunately, the Pavilion Head soon returned.
"Who is the one who wants to meet with me?" A captivating voice resounded clearly, as footsteps slowly approached them.
Ning Chen stood up straightly from his seat and turned to stare at the direction where he heard the voice from, only to see a graceful and luxuriously beautiful woman also staring at him.
Upon seeing such a beautiful woman, Ning Chen was astonished. He wasn't even able to discern her true age because of her eyes which seemed to understand everything in the world.
The long dress with silver court decorations seemed to hug her body, clearly defining her excellent alluring curves.
Ning Chen even felt this woman surpassed him in terms of charm, him only surpassing her with pure appearance.
The woman was also astonished seeing Ning Chen's handsome face, however, she soon regained herself by releasing a gentle, noble wave from within her body.
The wave was so graceful and noble that It seemed to make everything come into a stillness.
Ning Chen was touched by this wave, making him feel his exhausted mind getting refreshed, making him able to think more clearly
The entire first floor also came into a stillness, becoming calm and natural once again.
Domain, that was certainly and undoubtedly an innate domain!
It was the Noble Circle domain Ning Chen wished to obtain with proper consent and rightfully so.
Ning Chen was excited, however, the gentle wave forced him to calm down again. He then remembered first impression was the best.
He quickly bowed gracefully and spoke clearly to her. "It's a pleasure to meet you, I'm Ning Chen, the person who wants to meet with you." He then raised his head slightly, revealing his charming smile that seemed to blind them completely, even almost stopping their heart.
It was the most perfect and beautiful smile Ning Chen could create...
