"Where are we headed now?" Liu Rumei inquired.

Song Yuqing, the elegant president from work, greeted Lin Beifan with a smile: "You're here!"

"Do you... know each other?" Lin Beifan asked, feigning confusion.

"Of course we know each other, we're childhood friends!" Liu Rumei exclaimed, pushing Lin Beifan aside and rushing to embrace Song Yuqing. "I've missed you!"

"I've missed you too! But why are you two here together?" Song Yuqing inquired.

"Because I'm working for him now, as his secretary!" Liu Rumei waved dismissively. "Mr. Lin, you're not needed here. Leave us to catch up."

"Is it common for a secretary to kick the boss out?" Lin Beifan chuckled.

"Why not? That's the situation now. Get out, we need privacy!" Liu Rumei pushed Lin Beifan out and closed the door firmly.

Lin Beifan shook his head with a wry smile. "Xingchen, let's wait outside for a while. You're the only one with me now."

"Yes, Vice President Lin," Ye Xingchen replied solemnly.

Liu Rumei felt a mix of emotions at her friend's words. Despite her own reservations about Lin Beifan, she appreciated Song Yuqing's trust in her abilities and her willingness to support her decision. However, she couldn't shake off her concerns about Lin Beifan's true intentions.

"Thank you, Yuqing. I'm touched by your confidence in me," Liu Rumei replied sincerely. "But working with him... it's complicated. I'll do my best to handle the situation and protect our interests."

Song Yuqing nodded, understanding the underlying tension. "Just take care of yourself, Rumei. I trust you to make the right decisions," she said with a reassuring smile.

With a determined expression, Liu Rumei nodded back. "I will. And I won't let anyone take advantage of us," she affirmed, her resolve firm as ever.
