Chapter 9:conquests

Elyria and Tolos quickly feel. New Ghis is on the way to Port Yhos and Rhaego's mother thought that if she looked back she was lost, so she did not want to expand to the east making her way back to Westeros longer.

"Mother, if you are lost let me be the guide, I promise I will help you to the best of my ability." Rhaego said.

"My cute child sometimes talks like a sage, how amusing and cute." Daenerys said, but she still hugged him in the hopes of getting some of her strength back.

"I am serious, mom. If you do not want to go back, let me take this burden from you." Rhaego said.

"No way in the seven h*lls! Oops, I said a bad word. "Daenerys said, covering her son's ears, and soon after seeing how stupid the act was. As not only have he already heard her but the one that was swearing was her.

"As I was saying, no matter how wise you may seem, you are only a child. I will not send my child to the battlefield again, even more, when you disobeyed your commander's orders before, do you think I forgot? "Daenerys said.

"I could not stay there doing nothing, while our men tried to perform the impossible task of warding off our enemies. I ensured our victory, did I not?" Rhaego said.

"Yes, by what cost? Unnecessarily risking your life. You are my only child, my son, and will probably be my only one forever, as I cannot conceive children anymore. I cannot have you dying again. I..."Daenerys said.

Rhaego hugged her. He could try to use his bloodline to make his mother relent, but he did not want to do this to his own mother, having the risk of straining their relationship, and he was not sure if it would work with her either, as people with strong willpower could resist it. Daenerys could be called inexperienced, or maybe even dumb, inconsequential, and idealistic, but after all, the tribulations, which she passed in her small life, Rhaego did not think that the present Daenerys was weak-willed.

"Mother, I know you are worried, but I will be fine. I am a dragon, literally. It is a great way for me to gain experience with all the war that is awaiting me, as someone with the blood of the dragon." Rhaego said trying to sound convincing.

"Ok. I think I am a terrible mother I can't even say no to you." Daenerys said. She feared that if she rejected him, he may run away on his own, if he is with the army she can keep him at least partially safe. The only solution would be to chain him, she did not want to chain her son, and have the tragic irony of the breaker of chains, putting her son in them, she loved him too must for it.

"You are a great mother. I love you, mom."Rhaego said.

New Ghis

So Rhaego traveled to New Ghis. New Ghis is an island city in the Gulf of Grief, which borders the Summer Sea. Its island lies south of Ghaen. Ghiscar and the ruins of Old Ghis are located to the north, past the Ghiscari Strait. A city dependent on slavery, New Ghis is a much smaller port than Volantis. Their slave trade consisted mostly of reselling the slaves captured by the pirate's Basilisk raids on the Summer Islands, Naath, and trading ships.

New Ghis is the newest and smallest of the Ghiscari cities, but the most dynamic. Its iron legions are inspired by the lockstep legions of the Old Empire of Ghis, just as the unsullied. They are armed and trained in the fashion of the Unsullied, the eunuch soldiers of Astapor. The Unsullied are slaves, however, while the legionaries are free men who serve terms of three years.

The battle would have been hard if not for Rhaego's visit to the masters' pyramids, not all slave masters died, because some were careful enough to hide somewhere else.

Rhaego had to avoid the scorpions, while still destroying the pyramids, considering they were much bigger targets than ships it was much easier to perform it, after all, they lack men and scorpions to spread through all the pyramids.

Rhaego has to admit that their legions were practical as disciplined and well-trained as the unsullied.

It was a pity that their enemy was a dragon, he burned most of them to cinders, they did not surrender, however.

He tried to use his command powers in valyrian to make them surrender and serve him, hoping that some have some diluted valyrian blood in them, which considering how long the ghiscari were colonized by valyrians was not improbable.

Some seemed to enter a trance state for a split second, before shanking their head and returning to normal.

Rhaego thought it happened because their bloodlines were too thin for his powers to have much effect, and they were not weak-willed either.

"It's a pity that such a good army has to disappear." Rhaego while the remaining few were encircled and slowly exterminated by his army until there were none left alive.

They were a city useful to take hold of because they were good food producers and there is good wood on their island.

Port Yhos

Soon after they parted to Port Yhos, which was a town in Essos located southeast of Slaver's Bay on the shores of the Summer Sea. The westernmost settlement controlled by Qarth is south of Vaes Orvik and southwest of the red waste. Qarkash is to the east of Port Yhos.

Rhaego flew and went in front of the navy and paid a visit to the port city. There was a whole army armed to the feet with scorpions waiting for him.

Rhaego thought that Qarth really had money to burn. He would not fight a battle at a disadvantage, because he was not stupid, so he acted like a mole.

With his dragon form, he ducted a hole in the desert, and dug out until reaching his enemy, he started to burn the soil below him until it became similar to liquid glass, standing on glass hurt but it was surely not deadly.

So he used his body to carve his way up. With this, the enemy army on the ground started falling.

He dug the soil and went down again, with his sense of smell he could locate the remains of the army that were beginning to scatter. As he became bored with this game, he finally flew up and started to hunt and burn the scattered army.

He returned to the navy. There was no sea battle, with Port Yhos destroyed, the sailors from the navy retreated to Qarkash, not before burning all ships that they could not take by themselves. And the city 'ship house'.

They left some trustful men to keep others off the city, just the bare minimum because, they do not have many armies to disperse.

Qarkash.

Soon after, they set sail and reached Qarkash. Qarkash is a Qartheen town in Essos, located east of Slaver's Bay on the shores of the Summer Sea. It is south of the red waste and west of Qarth and the ruins of Qolahn.

Rhaego flew by and looked into the city. Qarth navy somehow could pass accurate news from the previous battle, making Rhaego somehow feel like he failed in his clean-up of Port Yhos's army.

They were forming a sort of guerilla in the deserts around the city, scatter enough to run away from him, the soldiers laid in improvised boulders, that were probably there to make it more difficult for him to attack from below.

"Simple, but quite a simple, but ingenious tactic. Let's use the most simple, but effective tactic raw strength."Rhaego said, flying back to the ships taking a cloth and two swords.

He turned into a dragon and carried both at his lower right 'feet'.

He flew to one of the encampments. When he was close to the ground a scorpion fired at him, which he avoided by turning into a Dragonoid again. Falling from the sky naked was surely a strange experience to Rhaego, maybe it was even stranger for his enemies.

When he was nearly touching the ground he turned into a dragon again, and before his enemies could react he spilled fire.

Burning half of them. He could have exterminated them from the beginning, but he thought it would be a waste of this opportunity to train this ability.

He turned back into a Dragonoid. He was not interested in fighting naked, so he put on his cloth quickly. With two heavy swords in each of his hands, he ran his way to his enemies. His enemy's curved sword could only leave him with some superficial cuts on his body. Rhaego even thought that his defense in his Dragonoid form was stronger than in his dragon one.

The heavy swords each fell upon his enemies like a compressed heaviness of a truck. Blood spilled everywhere, while bones broke, some inner organs exploded like ballons and fell out of his enemies' organs. This kept on going until there were no men left.

Rhaego kept on hunting the enemy's dispersed army. Sometimes he used the same tactic he used before, others he simply walked like the strange child in the desert carrying two heavy swords. Sometimes his enemies tried to encircle him, other times they underestimated him and sent a few to attack him, to later take him seriously. Rhaego found it ironic how the anti-dragon became their undoing, he surely would not be able to kill all these people in his Dragonoid form if they were together, but dispersed it was much easier.

After hunting sixteen groups he felt exhausted, and rather than resting in the desert, he flew back to the Meereen's navy. He felt disappointed with himself because he did not get even close to exterminating the city army. Meanwhile, the remains from the Qarkash army started to assemble in the navy, and instead of retreating they prepared to have at least a partial victory against the Meereen navy.

A bit after Rhaego returned to Meeren's navy, a sea battle was about to begin. The Qarth seemed to have heard about his battle against the slave cities coalition, so they covered, their ships below with lead.

"It is useless anyway" Rhaego said.

He used his sea monster plan again, however, this time, he tried to swing the ships instead of tearing them from below.

He could do it, but it was exhausting ships filled with people were heavier than he expected. At first, he planned to throw these ships' people on the water to later burn them, using the ships as a barrier to split his enemy's navy. As the easier plan failed, he thought about the easiest way to win, keeping the most ships possible. He threw himself into the sea and swam, the enemy drew arrows at him that bounce off, and he resisted the urge to laugh.

The arrows were a pain because they tickle him too much. He climbed the ships and started killing. Alone on the battlefield, he made the effort to keep his dear ships well. He took the sail and threw the ship at another, hoping that a shipyard could repair the damage, jumping to the next one he started to butcher his enemy.

When there was one who seems to have experience on the ship working and was not only a warrior, Rhaego would break his bones so he could not escape, after all these people have their uses.

After he alone butcher three ships' crews, the enemy navy gave up on fighting him, they tried to contain him, by encircling with ships, which they threw at his present ship, and abandoned and burned soon after. Rhaego pushed the ship out of the other ships' way. He then went to the burning ships, and he tried to control the seawater, but fail. It seemed that his power only works with river water.

"No ships-chans. Don't leave me?"Rhaego said, holding back his tears. He became pure furious. He did not even bother with the fact that he was slowly becoming naked, he toked the burning ship and make it sail to an enemy ship, but without touching it, later he jumped at the enemy ship with his clothes still burning, and started to slaughter his enemies with fury with his two swords swings.

The Meereen navy finally reached the Qartheen one, and so the fight truly began. It was a bloody fight, but with Rhaego bringing there to the Qartheen soldiers, which missed slave soldiers, mercenaries, and the city army; it was a Meereen victory. With this their navy multiplied sharply.

Qarth was their next destination.
