Chapter 58: Running Wild Again
Ah Jiu lay on the pile of firewood with his eyes closed, recuperating. Since that girl had left today, her mother had only brought him food once and hadn't approached the firewood room again. She hadn't even lingered outside; it was so quiet it seemed as if he was the only person in this house.
As footsteps neared, the door opened from the outside, and his eyes instantly snapped open. When he saw Wufu, the wariness in his expression eased.
"What took you so long?" Ah Jiu struggled to sit up, pulling at his wound, and winced slightly.
"Got held up with something. Don't worry, your message has been delivered to the bookshop." Wufu reached out and handed over some pastries. "Hungry, aren't you? Eat something to fill your stomach first."
Ah Jiu glanced at the small treats in her hand, took them, and started nibbling.
He was indeed hungry.
"After dinner, I'll take you up the mountain," said Wufu, raising an eyebrow at his elegant eating manners.
"Alright!"
