Chapter 1: Unhappy

It was a rainy day on the 2nd day of may, people could be seen rushing to their various destinations, as the rain showed signs of not stopping any moment soon.Standing outside the balcony of a huge, magnificent building was a beautiful fair skinned girl with black straight hair cascading all the way down right to her waist.Anyone who saw her at this moment would see how unhappy and lonely she looked.

Her name was Anna Charles, 19 years, daughter of Mr & late Mrs Edwin Charles .

Her father Edwin is the owner of Charles mall, which is located at the Heart of the city and also has branches in several other cities.

Hearing all these, people would know that Anna was probably not lacking a thing. so why was she here at the balcony? looking so unhappy with tears pouring as heavy as the rain which was falling at the moment.

Well it is actually Anna's birthday today and coincidentally also her Mother's death day.

( Flashback to two years ago

"Mum!!!!"

"what is it sweetie, I told you not to call me when am driving".

"where are you, Anna asked not minding what her mum just said".

"Am on the highway, now cut the call or else your cake won't be coming back with me".

"Mum is it true?' Anna asked and at that moment Mrs Charles realized that her birthday girl was actually crying.

"Honey are you alright?"what's the problem?

"Mum is it true that you and dad are getting a divorce?"

"What sort of nonsense are you talking about, who told you that ?"

"what sort of expensive joke is that? you are So oooo getting grounded for this Anna"

"Mum!!!!, Am not joking"

"Dad is here right now with miss Carrie the housekeeper and from the look of things , I think she's pregnant for him. just come back home mum, am scare.... Anna was still talking, when she heard a loud screech from the phone followed by the nonstop honking of a car.

"mum!!!!!!!, she screamed,

And that was how Mrs Charles died.

( End of flashback)

Anna was still crying at the balcony, When she felt a hand on her shoulder.

She didn't have to turn around to know who it was, so she said

"If you are here because you are afraid that I might jump down and kill myself, then you have nothing to worry about".

The person sighed and said " you really think am here because of that"?

"I know but I just wanna be alone Grey"

He signed and said "Anna you can't keep doing this to yourself, I mean it's been two years already. Am sure that even your mum would want you to stop this.

"You think?" Anna asked in a cold voice.Grey it's been two years like you said and yet I haven't had a glimpse of my mum. I don't even know if she's dead or alive. I drove to the highway the moment I heard a crash, But I couldn't see her. Her car was right there but I couldn't see her".

"Why!! , why wasn't she there.where could she be Grey?"

she broke down with fresh tears streaming down her face.

"It's alright Anna, I promise you I will find her okay?"

Grey kept coaxing and stroking her hair, while she kept crying till she eventually fell asleep.

He was actually happy that she cried it all out, that way hopefully she would feel better in the morning.

She had been bottling up her feelings since that day and gladly she freed it up tonight.

These last two years had been hell for Anna after hearing the death of his wife, Anna's Dad left the city with his mistress, without trace, though he left Anna the house and kept sending her money but she hasn't seen him since then.

That also made Anna feel sad and rejected,the worst of it, is the fact that she keeps blaming herself for mother's death.

Grey Skylar is the son of Mrs Skylar the founder of Skye high school.

Grey's father died before he was born and his mother single handedly raised him up.He is the same age as Anna and they have been best friends since childhood.

He was Anna's only friend and she was his too.

they have always been there for each other and that was why Grey was unhappy for the past two years that Anna had always been in pain.He tucked her in and slowly made his way out of the house and towards his own home, reminiscing the good and happy times he had spent with Anna and her mom.

The next morning:Anna woke up feeling refreshed, seemed like all the crying she did last night was worth it after all.

She even had a good dream of her mum, which hadn't happened in a long while She chuckled to herself and decided to freshen up and then head downstairs.

Meanwhile downstairs....

There was a woman standing with her back to the stairs, it seems she was reprimanding some people.

Her name is Lara and she was the second housekeeper who took over after Anna's father left with Carrie, the first housekeeper and the girls she was reprimanding were lolita and Stella the girls who were in charge of tending to Anna's needs.

"How come Anna's food remained untouched"? Miss Lara asked with anger obvious on her face.

"Ma the truth is miss Anna refused to eat it, you know she only eats when you tell her to" Lita said with fear.

"oh really, Miss Lara said getting angrier

"uh-huh that's true ma , miss Anna only listens to you" Stella said in support.

Miss Lara was about to say something when someone opened the door and came inside the house without knocking.

They all knew that it was only one person who dared to do that.

"Good morning Aunty Lara. Uhm am I interrupting something? Grey asked when he noticed the situation.

He knew without being told that those two girls were being scolded

"Good morning Grey, you aren't interrupting anything, I was just scolding this stupid girls.

"Oh!, How is Anna? he asked.

When I checked in on her this morning, she was still asleep. So she might still be sleeping.

"Oh alright then, I'll just come back later. I need to go do some shopping for my mum.

"Ok then, I'll let her know you came around. Miss Lara said.

Grey turned and started heading outside , he was almost at the door,when he heard .....

" How can you be going shopping without me and yet you claim to be my best friend?
