Doomed to be Yours

Bethany was one of those famous writers who deemed to never let anyone that was close to her know about any of her works, as she had never wished to hear any criticism from any of them. When her older sister asked her to attend an important meeting in her stead, it never occurred to Bethany that it was about a convenient marriage. Unbeknownst to her, the person with whom her older sister was arranged was her editor, Will Richard Brown. It was this man whom Bethany had wanted to meet last, as she had always ignored all of his calls and purposely lied about her condition just to escape from her duties at work as a writer. But now that Richard had met her, there was not a single chance that he would let her run away from her job anymore. He was willing to use any means just to make her meet her deadlines, even if that meant becoming her reference model for her latest novel. Is it possible for romance to flourish between a writer and her editor? Or would things just always mean "business"?

PROLOGUE

Richard has grabbed me by the waist. The part of my body that he touched felt hot; I was almost melting. It had never been like this before. We had already made a lot of physical contact, but something was different this time, and I could not seem to figure it out.

My eyes turned up to look at him, and my heart skipped a beat when I saw that he was already looking at me. There was a glow in his eyes—something that was never there before—as he slowly leaned forward, bringing our faces closer. The beating of my heart was loud and fast, and I could care less anymore whether he heard it or not. All I want is for his lips to graze against mine. I want to know how it feels as it dances along with my own. His thumbs had also started drawing circles against my skin; though it slightly tickled, it was soothing enough to help me feel relaxed and less tensed.

Richard snaked his arms around my waist, again, something that he had never done before. It was true that we hugged each other in the past; however, I did not feel anything like this—his touch was electrifying, and I wanted him to do more than just this.

Our faces were getting closer, and I closed my eyes.

"Like this?" They shot wide open when I heard him ask. His gray eyes were staring deep into my soul. "Is this what you wanted Alondré to do to Gianna?"

What?

He was doing this because this is what I imagined my male lead character would do to the female lead?

"Then I guess we're—" I did not let him finish his sentence. I grabbed the collar of his shirt and claimed his lips. They were as soft as I had imagined them to be. There was nothing that I could think about but the feeling of his lips against mine.

Little did I know that this one kiss would change everything about our relationship.
