1 Stumbling Upon The Doom Note

I was an average high school student at Mint High School.

No one envied me nor noticed me. I was average in all aspects including my looks.

Well, some students did notice me. They go by the title known as bullies.

They hailed themselves as the 'Supreme Ones' who threatened all the students in Mint High School. I was not an exception.

I was currently walking towards my classroom, minding my own business as usual.

I glanced left and right to see if there was one of the bullies who were after me for not paying them protection fees.

Phew! Luckily, none of them were near me.

I went inside the classroom. It was 7:28 in the morning. Only two minutes left before I was labeled as late in the class.

Some students entered the classroom after I entered it.

I went to my armchair and sat on it. I took off my backpack and prepared the books for today's lecture.

I had not noticed that one of the books was smelled like pee.

Damn! I forgot that one of the gang members of Supreme Ones dunked my Science book into the toilet.

I wish the one who caused this would experience his doom.

[Do you want power?]

It's one of the voices I heard in my head again. Maybe I need to meet a psychiatrist. The voice sounded like a voice from a radio.

[Do you want power?]

Of course, I do! Who wouldn't?!

[What are you willing to sacrifice?]

None!

[That's disappointing... I expected much from you...]

Yeah, yeah. I knew that I am disappointing. You don't need to rub it in.

[What a sad excuse of a human being you are!]

Are you going to degrade me or just shut up?

[Now... Where was I? Ah, yes... I can grant you power. Since you do not have anything you want to sacrifice to obtain the power I'm going to give you, the power's potency will be reduced.]

By how much?

[Only by a bit. You see, the sacrifice thing was just a misleading question where I would take advantage of a target's desire but you, on the other hand, had not agreed to sacrifice anything. I could not even tempt you with power.]

I see. So, what power were you going to give me?

[I cannot tell you that or it will spoil the fun of it. All I can say is that it would not cause harm against someone yet cause harm to that person.]

How ambiguous. When can I obtain the power you were going to give to me?

[In your world's time a.k.a. Earth's time, it should be in an hour or so. I'm bad at math but I can still tell you that it will be today that you receive the power I am going to give you.]

So you were not from Earth? Are you an extraterrestrial being?

[Of course, I'm not from Earth! Do you think your lower species can use telepathy and grant power at the same time?]

Makes sense.

"Lukas."

So what do I need to do after I obtain the power?

[Nothing. You can do whatever you want with it for all I care. It's not a big deal for me to give you 'that' since it is only a minuscule amount of my true power.]

I see. Then why were you giving it to me for free?

"Lukas!"

[For entertainment, I guess. I am bored waiting for Earth's destruction so I need to seek entertainment and at the same time speed up Earth's destruction.]

"Lukas! How many times do I have to call your name?"

"Why do you even need to ask me that? Just call me as much as you want. I would not listen anyway-"

Ah, sh*t! I screwed up! It's the teacher who was calling my name. I thought it was the voice in my head.

"What did you accomplish to become this arrogant to even talk back to a teacher? Stand outside until I finish my lecture and reflect on your mistake!"

I obeyed the teacher's command and went outside.

I was in the hallway. I peeked at the window and saw a book with a skull as its cover fell towards the ground.

Did someone lose their book?

I went to the window and opened it. I searched whether it was still there and found out that it was currently on top of a bush.

I will pick it up after class and return it to the owner.

I stand outside the classroom until the last subject teacher finished his lecture.

It was time to leave the school so I went inside and packed up my belongings.

I carried my backpack on my back and went outside hurriedly to check on the notebook with skull designs.

I arrived at the bush where the notebook had fallen but it was no longer there.

I observed my surroundings and found a girl who took a hold of it.

I ran towards the girl and punched her spine. That should keep her from pursuing me.

I attracted some attention so I hurriedly picked up the notebook and ran as fast as I could towards the school exit.

I did not felt sorry for the girl that I had punched. After all, I believed in gender equality.

I finally arrived at the school exit and went outside the school.

I ran towards my house but I took a different route than usual to reduce the risk of being pursued.

Even though I am not smart, it does not mean that I did not know about common sense.

I went inside a dark alley and fortunately, I arrived at my house safe and sound.

I went inside my house and locked all of the locks and barricaded it with chairs and tables.

I closed all of the windows using the curtains that I had bought last week.

I was the only one who was living inside the house so it did not matter that I closed it.

I went inside my room and sat on a chair in front of my desk.

I placed the notebook that I got and read its cover.

The title of the notebook was Doom Note.

I did not know whether it was a prank or not but I opened it anyway.

After I opened it, a blinding purple light shone and sinister laughter was heard.
