We Must Catch Him

Mc Ivan's POV

The Press Conference

Plenty of reporters came to the press conference.

Of course, it's another talk of the town. It's always been, ever since the first victim of Serious Guy.

Our town is small enough, so the news about the new victim will surely reach out to every household.

I'm pretty certain, the neighborhood is all anxious once again.

They are afraid that this could happen to them, which I know, will be possible.

It will be possible to all of us, with no exceptions.

He's not afraid to kill, he has no mercy.

He's a psychopath.

And a psychopath is a psychopath.

No one can change it, seems like he enjoyed doing this.

He loves killing.

Perhaps, that's his passion.

Ever since, he leaves note, all the people in our town are all afraid to laugh.

They are afraid that if Serious Guy see them, he will kill them.

Serious Guy didn't only kill people, he also killed everyone's right to laugh.

He killed everyone's right to be free and happy.

He replaced it with anxiousness, and now they are all scared.

Not me, I just hope he sees me laugh, so he could come to me.

Because I swear, I'm going to kill him.

I will make him pay, for all the tears he brought to every family's victim and to all the victims who still want to be alive, but he killed them.

“Here he is.” I got back from thinking deep when Prete on my side said.

She's referring to Chief Doldolia coming in for the press conference.

We are all on the side, while the Deputy Chief starts with bowing before he talks.

“First of all, Our team in the investigation unit sends our deepest condolences to the family of our beloved Chief of Police, Mr. Tagiobon.” Our deputy Chief started.

“I know, we are all anxious because it's been happening these past few days, weeks, months. And still, we didn't capture the culprit. And I understand your frustrations towards us. I, myself, are very disappointed that we couldn't catch the killer.” He paused for a while and take a deep sighed.

“But one thing is for sure, we are doing every best we can, the very best we could to capture whoever did this. We will surely reach the end of this, just hoping you will still trust our service.” He added.

"Sir, is it true that you found a note on his hand?” One reporter asked.

Mr. Doldolia—Our deputy Chief took a deep sigh again.

“Yes.” He answered shortly.

Followed by murmurs inside the conference.

And I guess, I know where this press conference is coming.

“Is it the Serious Guy's doing again, Sir?” Another reporter asked.

I'm certain, everyone wanna asked the same question.

Mr. Doldolia took a quick glimpse to us. I'm pretty sure he's contemplating whether he will tell them or not.

Because I know, it will bring more anxiousness to the people. And that's the least he wants.

We want them to be at peace, but truth be told.

“It's the same note that we saw in the other victims. However, we are uncertain if this is the same case to our Chief of Police. We look for other motives because we all know that in this path we choose, we encounter so many enemies.” He answered politely.

I don't know if he really believes on that, even though every evidence found was all pointing to Serious Guy.

Or maybe, he's just thinking about some other possibilities.

“Are you saying sir that perhaps someone who hated the Chief of Police might just imitate the Serious Guy?” Another one asked.

Which is possible to think. However, I don't think that way, if I based it on the culprit's handwritten note

We've been handling this case, and I'm always the one who always see the note, I already memorize his hand-writing, so I'm certain, it was him.

“We don't know yet. One thing is for sure we will not stop until we find this Serious Guy or whoever he is. Thank you.” Thereafter, he bowed to the reporters and left the stage.

He ended it too soon, but the burn in his eyes are saying that we need to find the culprit. . .

No matter what it takes.

“Sir, sir, one question, Sir!” The crowd said in chorus.

But our deputy Chief didn't bother to answer anymore.

He went straight to the exit, while we followed him.

Leaving the people still murmuring about the case.

After the Press conference, The Deputy Chief called us for an emergency meeting.

“Sir, there's a 100% possibility that this is another case of Serious Guy.” I said.

I handed him the report I summarize.

All evidence we saw at the crime scene.

Especially, the note he already saw earlier.

“No fingerprints again?” He asked.

“No Sir.” — Sergeant Nichol.

“Rosauro how about the autopsy report?”- Chief Doldolia asked.

“Strangled in the neck again, sir.” I answered.

I handed the autopsy report and he reads it.

He took a deep sign as he closed his eyes.

He was quiet for a while.

And we looked at each other.

“We're a dead meat.” Prete whispered to me.

“How about the CCTV's? Don't tell me, there's none again?” We all look down.

“I'm sorry, sir, but all CCTV's around the corner are all hacked. That's another evidence that it was really Serious Guy.” Inspector Maine said— One of the inspectors.

Chief Doldolia chuckled.

“Are you still doing your job? You got paid to do your job right, but it's already months and still, there's no update?!” He raised his voice.

I understand the frustration he has right now.

“Sgt. Nichol, are you doing your job well?! What happened to your team?! You're all trash!” He added.

“Don't worry, sir, we will do our best to find the killer.” Sgt. Nichol.

“You better do! Because you ain't getting paid just to be a lazy inspector! Do your job!” He shouted and even stamp the table.

We still avoid looking at our Chief.

“We have to find the culprit as soon as possible! Do you understand?!”-Chief Doldolia said in a loud voice.

“Sir, yes, sir.” We all answered.

“Louder!”

“Sir, yes, sir!” We loudly said in chorus.
