4 From crush to bae

The school bell rang as I entered through the school gate with Aurora.

"See you later sis" I said to Aurora.

We had reached the area of our departure into our various classes until the day was done.

"Ok bro" She gave me a punch on the shoulder and walked away.

Aurora had been more quiet than usual since yesterday she barely talked to me on our way home yesterday, but I guess it was because she was exhausted.

"Hi Mike" Chloe walked past me pulling me along with her.

"Wooh!.Any problem?" I asked.

"We have to hurry it's about to start"

"Ok but slow down a little bit"

"Don't worry we are here already"

All eyes were on us as we entered, I wouldn't think of it as anything else because she was pulling me.

"Hurry"

She quickly hurried to her desk to check something.

"Oh no I forgot the apparatus!"

"Where exactly did you forget it?" I asked.

"I think it's in my locker" She said pulling her hair in confusion.

"I can go get it"

"Really.I mean it is really bulky to carry alone"

"But still one of us has to be here incase we are called"

"Okay here's my key" She handed me her key.

I ran as fast as I could to get there really quick.Judging from Chloe's altitude this project really meant so much to her,and I wasn't going to let her down.It took me a long time to find her locker, because all the lockers on that side of the hall were blue.But when I looked very carefully I discovered a small sticker with the name Chloe on one of the lockers.

"This must be it"

I quickly put the key in and the locker opened.Inside her locker was amazing it smelt like strawberry 🍓 and was covered with pink wallpaper.I saw the heavy bag of scientific apparatus but when I was about to leave with the bag something caught my attention.

"Next up Barry Jones and Emma Sandra" Miss Nicole called out.

The team quickly walked up to present their project in front of the class.

"What is taking him so long" Chloe paced left and right in front of her desk.

"Don't worry Chloe I'm sure he's almost here" Said Cassandra

"Are you sure cos we are up after Barry and Emma"

Emma and Barry were almost done and I wasn't there yet.The class gave them a loud applaud as they went back to their seats.

"Next up Mike Hills and Chloe James"

After ten seconds of calling our team and nobody showed up.

"Miss Chloe" The teacher called.

"Yes mam"

"Didn't you prepare anything?"

"We did"

"Then what are you waiting for?"

"My partner ma"

"What about your partner?.Has he gone missing?"

"No ma he went to........"

"I don't bloody care where he went.Just get your presentation here before sixty seconds or you both get an F"

"Yes ma"

Chloe quickly ran to the door to go and find me but she ran into me on the door.It was very embarrassing as we both fell on the floor in front of the whole class which happened because we were both running.I quickly got up and pulled her up.

"What took you so long" She whispered.

"I'm sorry but your locker was too tricky to find"

We quickly rushed to present our project without even going through the directions one last time.But I am proud to say that it was success as we were part of the A+ team.

I asked Chloe to have lunch with me later in the day and she said yes. I had occupied the table which the students referred to as the lonely table for loners but I didn't mind I liked it because it was far from the fun tables which was always occupied with lots of noise and food fights which meant that it was very peaceful and relaxing.

"Hi Mike" Chloe pulled the chair out and sat down opposite me.

"oh how are you doing?"

"Nice I guess"

"I can see you picked the lonely table"

"This table's not lonely it's just peaceful. But if you don't like it we can shift" I said making an attempt to stand up.

"No no it's okay"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes"

"Okay" I said and sat down.

After eating we engaged ourselves in a friendly conversation.

"Sorry I almost let you down today"

"You've already apologized like five times now" She said pulling out her five fingers.

"I know but I really felt bad"

"I know it's okay"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes can we talk about something else now?"

"Like what?" I asked.

"You my friend"

"You want to talk about me?"

"That's new because people don't talk about me much"

"Ha ha ha but I want to talk about you?" She said bending her head on the table and looking towards me which made her eyes look more adorable. I was really struggling to avoid eye contact here.

" Like is it true that the reason your last name is Hills is because you live on a hill with your parents and sister? " She asked.

" Yes" I said bowing my head and looking away from her now.

" Is that why you refused my request to do the project at your house? "

" Yes"

" I don't think it's anything to be ashamed of"

" I dy think so either but climbing that hill takes like thirty minutes to do so"

" Oh..... that's why you are late most of the times" She said pulling her head up.

The bell for class resumption suddenly went off.

" I think our break is over" She said standing up now and so did I.

" I really enjoyed working and spending time with you" She said.

She pecked me and waved at me before leaving for class. I was frozen there for a moment, the mind of a child that I had was filled with joy everything was starting turn out good for me. As I got rid of the thoughts in my mind I mady my way to class but I heard a voice behind me.

"You don't know what you are signing up for" She said.

I could remember her she was Chloe's friend Lisa.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Stay away from her and nobody gets hurt" She said.

I tried to find out the meaning of what she was saying but she didn't reply me again she just walked away. I didn't take it serious she was just probably drunk or something I guessed.
