Raze drove her car quickly to her husband's lab. She had Mitsuki swipe his ID to get access to the building, for she didn't want her enemies to even suspect she had hidden the assassin at her husband's workplace. It would be far less suspicious if their child was in the visitor's log under the guise that he wanted to visit his father. Mitsuki used to visit the lab before university had started so it wasn't too unusual. Pulling an umbrella out, Raze hid the third body on Mitsuki's back as much as she could with the umbrella. Hearing the door buzz to indicate it was unlocked, she pushed the door open and all three of them walked swiftly to Josuke's office.
Josuke, Mitsuki's father and Raze's husband, was at his desk looking over sheets and sheets of data. On his face was a pair of reading glasses while his lab coat was hung over his chair. Looking up, irritated at the distraction, he was about to yell at whoever was coming into his office until he saw who it was.
"Raze! Mitsuki! What are you doing here?" Josuke was confused. He reached for his wife's hands and then he realized there was some blood. "Raze! What happened? Why is there blood? Are you okay?"
"Josuke, it's okay. It's not all mine."
"All yours?"
"Josuke, I was attacked in my office. Mikki came by accident and saved me."
"Mitsuki did?" Turning towards his son, he reached out to hug his only child until he noticed there was another person. "Uh..who is this?"
"This is the assassin who tried to kill me."
Josuke looked back at Raze and towards the stranger person again. "And why have you brought this person to my office?" His eyes started to turn red at the thought that someone had tried to harm his family and the desire to strangle the person in front of him became stronger and stronger.
"Josuke, we need her alive. This person was sent by the military."
"The military is trying to kill you? The very same military you and I have devoted our lives to?" Josuke yelled. Rage filled his body as a blue aura started to form around him.
"Josuke, calm down. The assassin is heavily sedated but we need your help. In order to find out who sent her, we need to keep her in a calm and safe space where she won't be found or able to use her abilities. It looks like she can manipulate fire and air." Raze placed her hands in his, trying to calm down her husband.
"Fire and air?" Josuke was confused. "No one can do that."
"Well it seems like she can."
"Interesting..." Josuke's aura started to dissipate as his brain started moving 100 miles per hour, thinking of this new information. He had read old records that spoke of another civilization outside of the two cities, but never meeting anyone who could verify this, he had disregarded this information. Now it seemed that the military had been hiding an ace within the ranks, someone not of their kind. Thinking of the problem now, Josuke started to pace in his office while Raze and Mitsuki waited patiently.
Mitsuki was actually starting to get a little tired carrying a limp body all this time, but he didn't want to say anything to his parents. He knew they had a lot on their minds and he didn't want to seem incapable of handling at least this much. He turned his head to look at the girl's face and was curious about her features. He had never been this close to a girl's face before and wasn't sure what to make of it.
Josuke stopped pacing and looked towards his wife and child. Grabbing Raze's hand, he gestured to Mitsuki to follow them as he led them out of his office and towards an elevator.
"Where are we going, Dad?"
"Somewhere old and abandoned in the lab. Back in the day, we used these rooms for other experiments but they've since been abandoned. There are water tanks we can keep her in and no one will know. We haven't used these tanks in a long time but it should hold her despite her special abilities." Going down at least 20 floors underground, they stepped out of the elevator and into a dark room. Flicking on the lights, Josuke had Mitsuki put the girl onto a metal table as he hooked her up to a breathing mask and other wires to gauge her heart rate and brain activity before placing her in the water tank. Closing the tank, he turned on the machine and water filled up the tank.
"Will she be okay, Dad?"
"Don't worry, Mitsuki. The water is actually a special combination of healing agents and nutrients that will help her heal and also keep her calm. I'll sync up the software to my computer in my office so that I can always keep an eye on her and I'll let you know when she's awake."
Raze nodded. "Good. In the meantime, I'd better get back to the office and make sure no one suspects a thing. I'll say that someone came in, but she fled after a tough fight. At least that will buy us some time and I can increase security."
"Honey, are you sure you're going to be okay?" Josuke reached out to hug his wife. He was now very worried for her and didn't want to send her back to a dangerous place with no answers.
"Everything will be alright, Josuke." Raze patted her husband on the head and leaned back. "Mikki will stay here and help you with the girl. I can ask for a leave of absence from school saying he's sick."
"Maybe you can also ask for a leave of absence," Josuke added. "I just want to make sure you're okay." He pulled out his puppy-dog eyes.
"Josuke, I don't think..."
"Please?" Josuke's eyes got even bigger.
"But it wouldn't be a good idea..."
"Pleeeaase?" Josuke leaned closer towards his wife. Mikki kept staring at the tank, knowing his father was going to win. His mom, the Major General, had no way of defending herself against her husband's eyes, after all that's what drew her to him in the first place. After years of practice, Josuke had perfected the art of persuasion against his wife using just his eyes.
