Kill list

In 8th grade, I had a decent amount of friends. Most of them were in the same group as me, one day my friends sat down by me but they looked nervous. I asked them what was wrong and they looked at me and said: "A has a kill list".

I was scared, A was someone who I had a strong feeling would do that. She would always do things like that, maybe not right a kill list but she would do other dark kinds of things. I asked them "How are you sure?" They told me that A wanted to show my other two friends a poem in her notebook. A went to use the restroom, so the other two wanted to see if she wrote more on the backside. They ended up finding a Kill list on the back, they told me that she had names of people in the friend group. They told me that they didn't have enough time to check everyone that was on it before she came back. They called the Police on her and she was absent from school for three weeks.

When she came back she acted normal, no one brought it up again. But I couldn't shake the feeling that I could have been on that list. A year later it still bothers me that, I've left a decent amount of friends in that group including A. But the one's who I am still friends with, I've talked to them about it they either respond with "Don't worry about it" "Past is in the past" "I don't give a F\*\*\*\*" and other things. One friend told me "It could have been anyone, anyone who even said one bad thing to her could be on the list" And I'm not even sure if it was a real story.

I have no idea If I was on the Kill List, but I fear what would have happened if they didn't turn that page

The Knocking

I haven't seen any other posts like this, but if this has happened to anyone else, please let me know.

I live and work in a college town. I graduated a year ago but like it in the area so I got a job in town. Rent is cheap and my job pays well but it's third shift. I find myself up all night and typically have no way to pass the time aside from videogames.

A month ago as I was playing, I heard what sounded like something knock over the grill outside my door. I live in a three unit building with a pretty unconventional structure, so my door is the only one really accessable from the road. I walked from my living room to my front door and turned the light on. I couldn't see into the yard very well except from where the street light shines on the corner. My grill appeared to be in the same place as before, so I figured it must have been an in game noise. I play with headphones on, so it wouldn't be the first time a noise startled me.

I returned to my living room and as I sat down I heard it. Two quick knocks. I thought it was weird as I had just been at my door with the light on but figured it could possibly be my neighbor. As I was walking up though, I began to hear a voice whispering quietly. I called out asking who was there and received silence. Now, I'm 6'00"and 250lbs of pretty well built masculinity, but I was shitting myself. I retreated to my living room and armed myself with one of my handguns. I didn't hear anything for the rest of the night.

Last week, I was following the same routine when I heard two quick knocks again. I already had my handgun out as I was still jittery from the previous incident so I stuffed it in the back of my shorts and scurried to the door. When I got there I peeked through the blinds as I turned the light on and before my brain could process what I saw, it let out a blood curdling scream driving me away from the door. I found myself halfway between fight and flight as my hand groped for my pistol. Once I had a grip on it I focused on calming myself before peeking back through the blinds. Nothing.

Tonight was exactly a week since the last incident. I was prepared at the door for the knock. Shortly after 0130 my time, I heard it. Two quick knocks. I grasped the handle and flung the door open. I'll be honest, I don't know what it was, but whatever slunk it's way over the guardrail under that solitary street light.. It didn't look human.

It's almost 0230 here now. I've barricaded myself in my room and am hoping that's the last time I hear that knock. Part of me knows.. It won't be.
