56 Unexpected Visit (3)

While Mia was standing in front of the shop in a daze, William was parked on the other side of the street waiting for Mia. He wanted to take Mia home starting today.

William finished all his work an hour earlier so he could arrive on time and surprise Mia. Never in his wildest dreams that he would be the one who would be surprised. He had been waiting to get out of his car to call Mia, but unfortunately all the events happened right in front of him till the Doctor went away.

He could not get out of a meeting which reached almost to his lunch break, deciding that it would be more unproductive to rush to Mia's side and eat lunch with her. He asked Stephanie to take some food for Mia instead.

There was a little itch inside his heart when he saw the doctor talking with Mia. Looking at Mia's reaction and gestures, that little itch turned into something more irritating for William. It was as if someone was pouring salt into his already wounded heart. What bothered him more was when the doctor decided to pat Mia's head before he left. He could have left without doing something unnecessary.

William took deep breaths in his car while staring at Mia from the window. He tried to calm himself before standing up and opening the door. With large strides, he headed for Mia with a box of chocolates. He tried his best to remove the frown on his face, he did not want to look petty in front of Mia even though his heart was bleeding from jealousy.

With a gentle voice, William called for Mia.

"Mia."

Mia woke up from her daze and looked for the person who called her name. As she was slowly moved her head, she instantly recognized the face that was right in front of her. With his usual charming smile which could surely make any woman fall for him. Standing tall and proud like a model for a box of chocolates. Surely if he posed like that for a magazine while holding those chocolates, a woman of all ages will buy them, no questions asked.

Mia was only looking at William while having those thoughts.

William, on the other hand, took this as a sign of Mia still in a daze due to the doctor. His smiling face started to cramp up while having those thoughts in his head. He tried his best to continue to smile even though Mia was not responding to his call.

He called Mia's name once more. it finally woke Mia from her thoughts, and with an awkward smile Mia looked William and asked, "What are you doing here?" she was looking around by reflex, trying to see if there were some people who knew her passing by.

"I wanted to walk you home," William said with a cheerful voice while he handed her the chocolates.

Mia who was looking around caught a glimpse of William's car and without giving it much thought she said, "You are going to leave your car here while we walk?"

William did not think that Mia would think of the car first before his offer of taking her home, so he asked, "I can drive you home if you prefer." He still had the same cheerful voice and smile plastered at his face.

Mia finally registered in her head what she said and felt embarrassed. She could only reply with, "I think we should use your car, if we leave it here then no one will take care of it." Mia wanted to face-palm her face for saying such things.

"That makes sense. Let's go," William said without disagreeing with Mia. Although he wanted to walk her so he can spend more time with her, if Mia prefers to take the car, he wouldn't argue with her for such a simple thing.

Mia followed William as they headed for the car but before she could reach the passenger side, William gently opened the door for her. She felt shy once more but went inside the car and took her seat without a word. William closed the door gently and happily went in his own seat.
