54 Unexpected Visit (1)

With eyes wide open, Mia was surprised to see the person standing in front of her.

"What's with that look?" Stephanie asked while she was holding a paper bag with containers inside it.

She laughed at Mia's surprised look and thought to herself, "Was she expecting someone else?"

"Of course I'm surprised. What are you doing here?" Mia asked with a perplexed expression.

"Oh, I'm just here to make a delivery. William is a bit busy with work and since he knew I'd be going to our old house today, he told me to bring some food for you." Stephanie was looking intently at Mia's expression while she was talking and it was a success. Her face was blushing up to her ears, she was fidgeting her hands, and her eyes were rolling all over the place.

As the two women were talking, Dr. Canes walked into the room.

"Hello there," Dr. Canes smiled amicably at Stephanie.

Stephanie was interested to see the Doctor that Mia was infatuated with. She was trying to measure the Doctor while observing him.

"Hello," Stephanie said.

"Uhmm, Dr. Canes this is Stephanie. She's a friend. Stephanie this is Dr. Canes, my boss." Mia introduced the two with each other. Both of them nodded and smiled once their names were mentioned by Mia.

"It's lunchtime. You can have lunch with your friend," Dr. Canes said with a smile.

"Thank You," Mia said as she grabbed Stephanie's hand and walked out of the store.

"Why are you in a hurry?" Stephanie asked Mia while she laughed, her bell-like laughter attracted the people around the area. As they saw the beautiful lady who was making the sound, they could not take their eyes off the beauty who is standing out while walking down the street.

Mia led Stephanie to the park, there were not many people during this time. They found a bench with a nice shade, although it was not hot during this time it was still better to avoid direct sunlight during this hour.

"The park sure has changed a lot," Stephanie said as they prepared to take out the food. They were simple dishes that were easy to eat with a cold beverage in a bottle container.

"I know right. There are a lot of new facilities that they added but it's too bad that not a lot of kids in the neighborhood play in it anymore." Mia said with a hint of sadness.

"Well, it sure does bring back a lot of memories." Stephanie chuckled as they spent a lot of time in the shopping district and the areas surrounding it. The park was one of them, they would buy some snacks from the street vendors and go here to rest at the benches.

While Stephanie was reminiscing about their childhood, she heard a murmur beside her asking, "So how's William?" Mia asked in a mosquito-like voice.

"He's fine. He's just a little busy in the company so he wasn't able to come out on his own." Stephanie said. "Anyway, I heard what happened from William. What do you think?" Stephanie tried to probe some answers from Mia.

Like a kettle that has reached its boiling point, Mia's face was so red that you can imagine her face having smoke come out of it. "He told you?" Mia asked shyly.

Stephanie was amused that she replied, "Of course sister-in-law."

Mia did not know how to respond to Stephanie's teasing. She knew Stephanie is just asking like her usual self but she could not offer a retort like the usual times.

"I don't know," was Mia's only response. The truth was she still did not know how to act towards William who confessed to her. She was confused because even though she knows William's feelings, she still likes Dr. Canes. Although William told her that she did not have to rush with her answer, it still felt like leaving it like that would make it difficult.

While Mia was having a hard time, she felt a hand on her shoulder, "Don't think too much about it. You're still young so you're undecided. It's not a bad thing as you can compare the two men that are currently in your life right now."

Stephanie tried to console Mia who looked sad while trying to come up with an answer. As a friend it was her role to support her friend, although she wanted Mia to end up with her brother, she did not want her to make a decision due to the influence of other people.
