His body floated forward only to be met by an air twisting palm.
''Huh?''
His eyes widened as he hurriedly blocked the sword in front of his body.
However he didn't feel any pain from the sword. Instead he felt a piercing pain coming from his back.
His head twisted only to see another ghost appear behind him!
''When?''
''Blah!''
Less than five metres away, Situ watched as his older brother was beaten senseless.
Whenever he tried to recover another ghost would appear and break down his defence again.
''Seems like you underestimated me brother. Now it's time to end it.''
As Situ spoke, the nine ghosts steadied their bodies, no longer showing the strange Zombie-like actions of their previous walking.
Nine fists appeared in front of the man, an insane influx of aura poured in preparing to destroy the man in an instant.
But right before it landed, an upright middle-aged figure appeared, his land lightly waved as the attacks were immediately dispersed.
''Ah uncle EG1! Thank you for the rescue.''
The Beautiful man's sweating head finally calmed down.
''Hello Young Master, please accept my apology but you have been eliminated.''
EG1 put on a polite face. But not flattering.
''Yes I understand. Well played my brother. It seems like I really did underestimate you.''
The man spoke through a wide grin. In fact he didn't hold much hope, at most he wanted to try his luck.
Situ just glanced and continued floating gently above the tablet, waiting for more prey to come to him.
Samuel watched the interaction between his children. A slightly surprised look on his face.
''I didn't expect Situ to figure out the formation so quickly!''
He really didn't expect it.
Slowly the individual battle continued. His children fought one by one and the winners were decided. Finally, it fell down to the final six and Samuel announced the end.
Altogether, apart from Situs' use of the Nine Ghost Array, the rest of the competitors were expected.
Among the losers were the Beautiful man and Mias eldest Daughter alone with every other child below Rank 1.
In the end, Situ, Arnold, Owen, Sarah, Lily and surprisingly one of Samuel's other sons actually made it through.
He was called Shamus Lanford and was born with a Three Inch Spiritual Root. Unfortunately he hasn't had time to practice, only reaching Low Rank 2 in this time and barely entered by the skim of his teeth.
''Father, I wish to cede my position in the competition. I realise I am not quite suited for the position of Heir just yet. But trust me I will compete for it once again in the future.''
Samuel looked surprised at his son Shamus. Surprisingly someone could willingly give up the chance of becoming the Heir to the Family!
But knowing his opponents. It is to be expected. Unlike the rest of the competition here, Shamus' mother wasn't a heroine or anyone influential.
She was just a Mortal Concubine selected among many others, and happened to be lucky enough to have a child.
She couldn't provide the support within the Family to Shamus and he knew that. His own warrior quality is far below the others.
''Well my Children I am quite proud. Now for the next sector of our competition, the five man battles!''
Samuel smiled slightly looking at the confident figures in front of him.
''You have two hours to recover and call together your forces.''
Samuel as Samuel sat on the throne and just nodded when he felt the results. But suddenly his face changed.
An issue had occurred. Not for his main body, rather it was with Caterpillar Samuel.
As the Heirs competition was continuing, Caterpillar Samuel was currently marching through the withered remains of a forest.
He stood confidently on the back of a white marble horse that floated in the air. Below no less than 100,000 Marble figures marched around. They spread far and wide tearing down any trees that came in their way.
But they didn't waste them, all these trees were spiritual woods useful for production. Behind the large force around 10,000 slightly less intimidating human warriors followed, storing any plants or resources found into bags.
However there was no longer the excitement of watching his warriors fight. As Caterpillar Samuel stared at the terrain in front, he had a solemn look on his face.
Piles of black ruins were spread across the path in front. At least thousands of broken piles but what caused his face to change was that some were partly intact.
When his Pawns finally reached close enough, they turned the most intact black ruins over, revealing exquisitely carved black warriors. Even with their destructed state their faces showed a chilling calmness.
''Nigel was actually here?'' Caterpillar Samuels eyes squinted slightly, especially seeing the identical faces that he often sees on his pawns.
All these piles were actually remnants of Nigels marble figures! Caterpillar Samuel had personally experienced a thousand year war with Nigel so he can definitely recognise them.
As Caterpillar Samuel finally got closer, his perception finally began to pick up some fluctuations from the battle ahead.
The Pawns and the Knight below him began to react, all pulling out their weapons and preparing to fight.
Slowly but surely battles began to appear. But the opponents weren't what Caterpillar Samuel expected.
A small battle appeared in front of him, half a dozen Black Pawns faced off against a group of strange looking creatures.
There were multiple different shapes, some four legged arachnid type beasts, some humanoid, small sheep like creatures!
However there is one similarity, their skin was tainted a sickly green. They had rotting flesh flopping off their bodies as they ran around and some had creaking grey bones visible.
But except for a limited mobility they didn't have anything strange about them. But one word came to Caterpillar Samuels mind when he saw them.
Zombies!
Zombies are a strange existence in the Eternal Battlefield. They have existed for many years and no one knows their origins, but when a True Zombie is born it is definitely a tragedy for millions.
A True Zombie is born and they have the ability to infect basically anything! Only top level species like Dragons might be able to avoid being infected if there isn't an overwhelming strength gap.
However Zombies are definitely a walking natural disaster. Because it only requires a fraction of the True Zombies Virus to infect countless beasts and creatures.
But True Zombies are a rare breed. Caterpillar Samuel has never even heard of one appearing so it must've been millions of years ago!
However, what is there here now? Not only is the Abyss appearing, but now Zombies have awoken?
Regardless, this didn't make Caterpillar Samuel hesitate. True Zombies are ruthless and impossible to work with, of course he wouldn't try to ally with them.
Instead he waved his hand forward and a group of leading Pawns leapt forward and quickly wiped out the group of zombies.
