　　But the next morning, when I received Cora's call, I was dumbfounded. She didn't call to ask me to pick her up. Instead, she said she didn't want to see me.

　　"I'm sorry, Pedro. I can't go with you," she said.

　　My mind was completely blank when I heard it.

　　"Cora, what happened? Why did you change your mind? Does someone threaten you?"

　　"No, Pedro. It's my own decision. Don't worry about me. I'm safe. I just need some time." Cora hung up the phone after she finished.

　　I immediately dialed back, but her phone had been turned off.

　　"Fuck!" I cursed and threw the phone on the table. The guard at the door heard the sound and poked his head to see what happened. But when he saw my angry face, he withdrew his head instantly.

　　I couldn't accept it. It was just one night. Pacing back and forth, I asked myself, "What could make Cora change her mind in one night?"

　　But I couldn't think of anything.
