Chapter 11

Gray walks to the beautifully designed bar and poured himself a tall glass of scotch. He uses a spatula to scoop ice from an ice bucket into his drink. He swirls it thoughtfully and drinks half of it.

"Want a drink, princess?" Gray asked.

Kim shakes her head in refusal and walks almost unsteadily to the immaculately finished sofa and sits down.

Gray watches her carefully.

"Is he going to be a problem for us?" Gray asked.

Kim looks at him almost numbly.

"What?" Kim asked.

"Andre is back. He used to be your husband and my best friend. I was his best man at your wedding. You divorced him and now we are planning our wedding. He is back now and I want to know if he is going to be a problem to our plans" Gray said.

Kim looks at him for a long time and then she stands up and walks towards him. She stands very close to him and her eyes are steady as she looks at him.

"Andre is dead to me. Gray I choose you. You and I were friends before he came along. Your parents and mine have always wanted us to get married and seal the friendship that has existed between our families for ages now. He had his chance and he not only humiliated me but he tore my heart to shreds. You were there for me. You helped me. You were a fortress and a rock for me. Finally we've decided to be together again. I keep my promises Gray. Andre is dead to me so I will marry you." Kim said.

Gray smiled, emptied his glass and sets it down.

A step brings him closer to Kim. He takes her in his arms and she doesn't protest when he kisses her.

However when his hand moves upwards to cup her delicious right breast. She pulls back from him and shakes her head sadly.

"Why Kim? He is out now. I saw the way he looked at you. We need to make love Kim darling. You need to give me that assurance. You need to be mine in every way, so that it makes you committed. I was prepared to wait until our wedding day before touching you but you said yourself that Andre is back and he has turned the script on it's head. Let me make love to you my darling. I love you so much Kim." Gray said exasperated and sad.

Tears brim in Kim's eyes as she takes another step away from him.

"I can't Gray. You know I can't." Kim said tremulously.

"And why the fuck not? Does he still affect you that much? Are you still playing games with me? Damn it! Why not?." Gray said looking hurt and pained.

"No, baby! No. He doesn't affect me. But you know me! I am a hundred percent faithful to my partner. Before I make love to you,my marriage to Andre must end." Kim said with a trembling voice.

"But it has already ended. You've been granted a divorce by the court. You have signed the damn papers. What else do you need?" Gray said exasperatedly.

"Oh Gray please don't do this. You know Andre refused to sign the divorce papers and until he signs them, I am still his wife. As much as I hate it,I can't be unfaithful in that capacity." Kim said,her voice breaking down.

"This is bullshit darling and you damn well know it. When the divorce was granted,you were free. You no longer need his signature since you've signed yours. It's over!. Hell,are you saying that if he refused to sign the damn papers in twenty years,you wouldn't marry me? That's a bullshit excuse." Gray said.

"I want him to sign those divorce papers darling. You know me well and you know how important little things like this are to me." Kim said.

"For five years. I have been telling you to take the divorce papers to him in jail but you refused to visit him in prison. So what are you going to do if he refused to sign the papers? Check into the nearest Catholic Church as a nun? Maybe?" Gray said.

"Stop hurting me Gray. Look! You know it is good he is back. I will send the papers to him myself and I will tell him to sign it. Then we will get married sweetheart." Kim said with a pained expression.

Gray pours more drink,his hands are not steady as the drink spills all over. He drinks it in a go and walks towards her.

"Do that darling. Do that for me. Let's get married because I can't wait any longer." Gray said.

He brushes his lips against her and then takes his car keys from the hook and walks towards the door.

"Good night Gray." Kim said.

He pauses and looks towards her as his eyes darken with fury.

"Oh it's like that now. Huh?" He said with a furious snarl.

"Like what? What are you talking about?" Kim said looking puzzled.

"Instead of good night darling,you say good night Gray just because Andre is back?" Gray said.

She sees that his extreme jealousy has come to fore as she is getting angry herself. She strives to keep her cool.

"Don't be childish, Gray. Good night" Kim said.

He glowers at her for a moment. He then nods and opens the door furiously,slamming it shut behind him.
