School Days (2)

Khay's eyes flared in anger and a cold energy blew around him. Karl, not wanting to be disadvantaged, put some distance between them and then drew his sword causing a sharp feeling on the skins of the weaker people present, these two seemed ready to start fighting at the drop of a pin. "ENOUGH", the principal shouted, dissipating the energies released by the two with just his voice. Jacob took this chance to start some damage control," Khay nobody here doubts your loyalty, it's just not a good time to say something like that knowing your former ties with the families and some of us", he turned to Karl, "will avoid bringing up the past". "Anyway we came here to pick personal students not to fight and we've not started yet, so shall we begin?" Alicia was the first to speak," I want Aliah as we are both mentally based fighters. "I like Will Quezi's temperament". Khay picked all of the families' descendants and some other teachers picked more students, this went on for some hours because the number of students who were wanted was few so there'd be some arguments but it all ended with the tradition of the principal picking the first placed students, who would be Connor in this case.

After some further discussions, their meeting finally ended but another was just starting elsewhere. Three men and a woman were sitting at a large table with nameplates in front of them, the names were; Amari, Silva, Yamayto and Alistair. They all had grim looks on their faces while staring at a holographic picture of a man in silence which was broken by the Amari leader. "Vincent Maximus, the man who boys to no one, the soldier turned evil due to his belief that awakened people should rule the world and be served by normal people". "Idealistic", the Alistair leader interrupted with a harrumph. "Anyway", the man continued, "he's out of prison and his cult has grown so much that it can't be ignored anymore" ." Such a man would be amazing to fight don't you think", such a thing could normally come from the mouth of a battle maniac like the Yamayto leader but from their faces, the others were not shocked by his words. "I should have killed him when I had the chance instead of taking him to prison now look at the mess that's been made", the Silva leader said, " well there's no use brooding over the past, we just need to decide on the next course of action before things escalate even more because we are having some conflict with Permora over the students a blaster killed.

"I have an idea", Alistair said, " let's issue a quest at the academy, putting a bounty on cultist's heads". Amari quickly understood the plan," The students will hunt down the cultists but some of them will also die thus weakening all of our enemies at once. "Great idea but the quest will go through the leaders of the academy who might be able to see through the plan", the Yamayto leader had spoken her first words in the entire meeting, " then it would just be a waste of time wouldn't it? Silva smiled slyly, "Don't worry I have people on the inside to deal with that". A slow chime was heard in the room signalling the end of their meeting, they got up and left quickly as if they couldn't stand being in the same room with each other. They moved in straight lines in four different directions but the Yamayto leader took a sharp turn to a mountain peak where an old man sat waiting.

It was snowing on the mountain top but this old man was sipping hot tea and wearing loose clothes in the cold weather like he was having a vacation in the tropics. The Yamayto leader bowed to the man before taking a seat, "Grandfather, these people are heartless, they have no problem sacrificing future warriors for their benefit". "Do I have to be associated with them? The old man sipped his tea and smiled, "Since the earth became safer these people have become fools and I hope my wise granddaughter will be the ray of light in such a dark – "AAaaaah", a man screamed and flew at an alarming speed into the old man's outstretched hand. The hand clasped onto his neck and squeezed till a crack was heard, "I'm sorry my child but he was spying on us, it had to be done". The two continued to drink tea and discuss whatever topic came to mind.

In Permora, a new quest appeared on the quest tab on the school's website, the person on "the inside" that was mentioned made the quest's difficulty level 4 out of 5 instead of level 1 which would allow anyone to accept this quest. It seemed he still had some of his allegiance to humanity left in him. Most of the third-year students of Permora saw this quest almost immediately and realized that the reward of one TQ drink per cultist was too good to be true but also worth the risk.

A TQ drink is made with highly filtered beast blood which helps to temper the muscles and aids in the absorption of natural energy. Natural energy could be controlled to do various things even out of battle, it had a similarity to the mythical energy known as qi, so for students with relatively weak abilities or base enhancers with no abilities at all, this kind of mission was a godsend because the cultist did not even have to be strong.

In a dark room somewhere in a forest cave, a man was kneeling to another person on a throne carved from stone. This situation would be strange to most knowledgeable people because the one kneeling was Vince Maximus, the man who bows to no one. The person on the throne couldn't be seen clearly but from the voice and build, it would be easy to assume he was a male. "Vince", he croaked in a scratchy voice, "you create chaos for the warrior to appear, me kill them". "Vince you fail, me kill you". "Yes, leader", Vince said, I will not disappoint you twice". "Go show me" was the leader's response to which Vince quickly obeyed. "Oversized idiot, the very moment I have enough power I will kill you and sit on that throne, taking full control of the cult. Then I will finally be truly powerful". These thoughts caused Vince to smile as he and his men headed out to fulfil their real leader's request, of course, they did not know about the "big man" behind Vince and Vince planned to keep things that way.
