"You won't say a word to me?" I question her like she is guilty

She barely gives me a glance from behind her table when she answers me.

"Why should I? Is Little Miss Anna sick again?" She huffs sarcastically

What was I expecting? That we would have a good conversation? With a woman I divorced in the spur of the moment? What the fuck was I even thinking when I drove here this early in the morning.

She finally looks at me with one eye raised.

"You look haggard. Had a nice night I guess? And you're here to make fun of the one who didn't?" She asserted flippantly

"I came here to check on you after what happened last night?" I speculated so she won't misunderstand.

What am I even thinking? Who here is most likely to misunderstand anything?

She takes her seat and settles her eyes on me. "And what? You want me to welcome you with a hug? Sorry I burst your bubble."

I think that's my cue to get out isn't it?
