Chapter 12: The orb cracks

When Xin's name was called out, he began to walk toward Miles, a cheerful voice rang out in his ears as he walked towards Miles.

"All the best Xin, your passing is almost certain" Zoe shouted as he walked towards Miles.

Xin revealed a warm smile as he looked at her, he revealed.

"Thank you," Xin said, a drop of tear forming near his eye.

He quickly wiped off his tears and fell in deep thought as he smiled.

"I will protect you with my life, without you guys, I would have never been able to feel such emotions," Xin mumbled.

Xin was an orphan ever since he was born. He was raised in an orphanage and no one knew about his parents. He was constantly bullied at the orphanage because he had a weak physique.

His entire life changed when he was determined talented as a Divinity. He rose to the top of the Kingdom with his talent and found true friends like Zoe and Luca.

He got rid of these thoughts and walked towards Miles. When he was close enough, he bowed his head slightly.

"I greet senior Miles," Xin said to Miles.

"Raise your head, then put your hand on the orb. If it turns black then it would mean that you have passed the second round" Miles said as he pointed his finger toward the orb.

Xin just nodded his head and put his hand on top of the orb then he channeled mana into the orb, and everyone's attention was drawn towards him.

"I am certain that he will pass the second round without any hindrance" Lucius mumbled as he looked at Xin.

A few seconds after, Xin channeled his mana, the orb started to slowly turn black. It turned pitch black in a few seconds. When Miles saw this, he revealed a smile and said.

"You have passed now you may leave" Miles declared.

The moment it was declared Xin just nodded his head and headed towards Zoe and Luca.

When he arrived in front of Zoe and Luca, they congratulated him.

"Congratulations on passing," Zoe congratulated him.

Xin just nodded his head with a warm smile on his face upon receiving the congratulations.

As he was having a cheerful conversation with them, a powerful voice resounded in their ears.

"Candidate Lucius, please come forward" Miles declared, his voice carrying authority.

When Lucius heard that, he let out a sigh.

"Well I guess I just have to rely on my luck today," Lucius mumbled.

He shook his head and started to walk towards Miles putting all of his hope and dream on his Luck.

"Well even if I fail, I can still take the exam next year and become a Divinity," Lucius thought to himself as he walked.

When he was a few cm away from the orb, he halted his steps. The moment his eyes met Miles, he bowed his head slightly.

"I greet Senior Miles," Lucius said as he bowed his head.

Miles nodded his head and he repeated the same words that he said to Xin.

Lucius then raised his head above, he stared at the orb for a few seconds, it was almost like he was pondering whether he was doing the right thing or not.

Seeing this, a frown appeared on Miles' face.

"Hurry up, the other candidates are also waiting" Miles urged him to hurry up.

When Lucius heard that, he let out a sigh once again.

"Screw it, I am going to use it whether I pass or not will depend on the system," Lucius thought to himself. He put his hand on the orb and let a surge of mana inside the orb.

The moment he channeled a surge of mana inside the orb, it started to vibrate violently and the notification started to flash in his retina.

(You have used the grading orb)

(The Grading Orb is trying to determine your grade)

(The grading orb has detected that you have gone through an awakening)

(It has been determined that your grade is E grade)

When Lucius saw the third line of words, he blinked his eyes in complete confusion.

"Since when did I go through an awakening" Lucius thought to himself. He looked at the orb and he saw that it was turning black at an incredible speed. He shook his head since he was very happy with this development.

Miles who was to his right watched this but there was a surprised look on his face since he hadn't expected this

"Regardless, it's good for me since I won't have to wait to become a Divinity until next year" Lucius muttered as the orb turned black.

As the orb was turning black, a notification flashed in his retina.

(This low-grade orb can't bear the great potential and power of a Divine Necromancer who will reach the top of the Divinities. The orb is starting to crack, there is a 60 percent probability that it will explode if you don't stop channeling your mana over the next 29 seconds)

Lucius widened his eyes in disbelief when he saw the notification flashing in his retina.

He turned his attention to the orb, sure enough, there was a big crack on it as it kept turning black.

The inspector saw this and the moment, they saw this. They quickly rose from their seats when they saw this.

"What is the meaning of this??" Lucius mumbled under his breath.

Miles who was at his side was also in disbelief, he hurriedly ordered Lucius.

"Hurry up and stop channeling your mana!!" Miles ordered Lucius to stop.

Lucius hurriedly cut off his mana supply to the orb when he heard Miles' voice. Thankfully it was not too late, since the moment Lucius stopped channeling his mana, the cracks stopped appearing on the orb.

Lucius heaved a sigh of relief when he saw that. However, all of a sudden he remembered something.

"Wait, will I have to pay for the damage of this orb?" Lucius thought to himself, his face became as ugly as muddy water when he thought about this.

Miles noticed the look on his face but he ignored him, he carefully picked the orb and inspected the damages it received.

A voice resounded through Miles' ears.

"Is the orb still operational if it isn't then it will be troublesome since we will be forced to postpone the second round since we don't have a spare orb" Longan's voice resounded through their ears, and a frown could be seen in his face.

When this voice resounded through the entire place, the crowd became nervous.

"Does that mean we can't take the exam today"

"I think so"

"Damn it, it's all because of that trash"

Such conversations could be heard throughout the place.

"Shut up!!!" Longan shouted.

Then everyone quieted down. After seeing this, Longan turned his attention to Miles.

"Wait let me check the conditions of the orb" Miles replied as he examined the orb, tension could be sensed from his voice.

Lucius looked at the source of the voice and saw that he was just a few cm away from him with the other inspectors.

He saw Longan nod his head

"I just hope that I won't have to compensate for the orb" Lucius mumbled.

Lucius's words had entered Longan's ears since his senses of hearing were very high as a Divinity.

"I assure you that you won't have to compensate for the damage since it's probably the orb that malfunctioned.

Also, the orb turned black so you have passed the second round but stay here for now" Longan said to Lucius, he sounded a bit annoyed and irritated.

At that moment, a notification also flashed in Lucius' eyes, he took a glance at it before ignoring it.

(You have completed the second part of the chain E- grade quest Divinity exams)

(You will receive rewards for completing the second round of the chain quest)

(You have gained 500 exp and gain access to the third round of the quest)

(Evaluation exams, (third round)

Description:

Wait for the inspector to announce the contents of the third round.

Rewards: Unknown.

Clear Condition: Unknown

Quest failure penalty: Unknown.)

Lucius just took a glance before turning his attention away from it. In a hurry, he didn't see the last line of words

When Lucius heard Longan's words happiness could be seen on his face, and he lowered his head.

"Thanks for your kindness sir," Lucius said as he bowed slightly.

Longan just nodded his head, Lucius then raised his head and stared at the orb nervously.

"Damn it, this orb is so weak it can't handle the power of an E-grade Divinity. I wonder how it measures the strength of higher-grade Divinities.

This orb is causing people so much trouble." Lucius thought to himself, with a frown on his face.

Longan stared at the orb and Miles, waiting for an answer. For the first time, nervousness could be seen on his face. A few seconds passed, and his nervousness only increased.

Soon, a voice resounded through everyone's ears that calmed them down.

"The orb is still operational, I just checked even though there is a big crack." Miles declared.

When he said that both Longan and Adrian calmed down. Nervousness left their face without a trace.

"That's good, we can now resume the exams," Longan said to him

He turned around and looked at the crowd of candidates.

"The orb is operational, the second round will resume soon. Be prepared to come forward when your name is called" Longan announced.

Everyone just nodded their heads. Longan looked at Lucius and waved his hand.

"You may leave now since you have passed the second round," Longan exclaimed.

Lucius nodded his head and turned around, beginning to walk away.
