Stranger

Marek stared dumbfounded by the guy. Why was he look for me? I don't know him at all, never seen the man before in his life.

Looking up at the man, Marek asked a series of questions without letting the man answer.

"who are you?"

"Why were you looking for me?"

"I never meet you before so what do you want with me?"

"How did you get in here?"

"Are you with the guys who kidnapped me?"

"Hey kid, you got a lot of questions huh, if you wanted me to answer you should ask a question then let me respond. You keep blabbering without giving me a chance to speak," the man responded by interrupting Marek.

"My name is Dorian." Dorian said before he continued, "I was in a party with your parents a long time ago. I think you weren't even conceived yet."

Dorian grabbed Marek hand before yanking him up off the ground onto his feet.

"Before you continue with your questions, can we get out of here first and get to somewhere safe. These people who kidnapped you aren't a joke, their strong, strong enough that killing my way in here would be a problem," Dorian said, after a brief pause he continued.

"No more questions until we get to a safe place and try to not make any noises, I don't want to kill my way out."

Dorian proceeded towards the door, looking left and right making sure the coast was clear for them to move.

Behind Dorian, Marek stood thinking, contemplating if he should go. He thought of his choices, stay here or leave with Dorian. If he stood in the prison cell, then he may make it out alive. Albeit barely. It was more likely that this cell would be his grave.

The other choice was leaving with Dorian. He didn't know him, his parents never talked about him or their other party members. They barely even mentioned their own parents and family. So it seemed odd that someone would look for him. Dorian was a complete stranger. But it would be better taking the chance that Dorian wouldn't kill him like Mitch and his companions. The threat was lingering in Marek mind. The threat of death.

Interrupting Marek thoughts, Dorian whispered in a tone that offered no disobedience.

"Come boy, we only have a few minutes to leave this place. I would rather have a head start on your captors and not be chased from the beginning."

Motioning to the boy to follow him, Dorian proceeds to leave the prison cell and continue down the hall.

With no choice and no more time to think Marek hurriedly followed behind Dorian, making sure to keep a few steps behind him in case he has to make a run for it.

After a few minutes of walking down the hallway, the duo of Marek and Dorian reach a flight of stairs.

Continuing, they slowly walked down the staircase in silence, one leading the other following.

They duo end up reaching the bottom of the staircase before long.

All of a sudden, Dorian makes a stop motion with his left hand, before disappearing around the corner.

Hearing a muffled cry followed by deathly silence, Marek slowly peeks his head around the corner.

There he sees Dorian standing over a body clad in a black suit like his kidnappers with blood on his hands.

Staring at the scene before him, Marek is scared witless. Dorian killed somebody. Having some way thoughts racing through his head, he gets snapped out of dazed state by Dorian voice echoing in his ear.

"Boy, it's kill or be killed type of world. Especially with hunters."

Dorian took a brief pause to stare Marek in his eyes before continuing.

"You have nobody to rely on, you have to kill first then ask questions later, or deal with the consequences later. With the disappearance of your parents, you were seemingly cast into this world not by choice. If you want to survive, kill. No more getting scared, we have little time to escape. Now follow."

Shaking the jitters off, Marek walked towards Dorian after stepping around the dead body.

With a nod Dorian proceeded down the hall with a slight jog.

Marek couldn't do that, Dorian didn't make any noise running but he knew, he would definitely make noise.

A few dozen steps later, the duo stopped. There was a door in front of them. Marek couldn't shake the feeling something was off. Dorian looked ready to pounce, he emitted a overwhelming feeling.

Looking at Marek, Dorian let off a bloodthirsty smile.

"Kid, stay here and kept quiet. There's two strong people behind this door. They stand in the way between us and escape."

With a soft sign he continued.

"It looks like I couldn't avoid fighting these monsters."

With that, Dorian walked to the door and kicked wide open.

All Marek heard was the sounds of weapons clashing, grunts of pain, and screams as blades sliced through skin.

After a while the sounds stopped.

With no choice, Marek decides to open the door. If Dorian won then they'll be able to escape. If he lost, then what awaited Marek was death.

Slowly opening the door, what appeared in Marek vision was Dorian sitting on one of the two bodies. No, three bodies. Wrong again, looking closer to the one Dorian sat on, the corpse was complete. The other one was sliced through the stomach and ended up in two different locations in the room.

Trying hard to not throw up, Marek's looks away towards Dorian who had what seemed to be a refreshed smile on his face.

"A cold blooded killer" Marek thought.

Noticing Marek. Dorian stood up.

"Come, let's leave before reinforcements arrive and make our escape impossible."

Walking to the door and opening it, Dorian stopped for Marek to catch up.

Running over to Dorian, Marek sees the scene in front of him. The house was surrounded by a forest. Similar to the forest he ran into to try to escape Mitch and his friends.

Turning back to look at the house, Marek decides to ask a question.

"I thought I was in a prison cell. Instead it's like a regular house."

"Yeah, the room you were in was heavily enchanted, the whole house is in fact. Which is why it seemed to you that you were in prison. In fact, we're about one hundred miles from your parents house."

Dorian pause grabbing Marek and throwing him over his shoulder.

"We have little time to stand around and chat, let's get safe first before you ask anymore questions."

With Marek on Dorian should, he sets off in a sprint, in a seemingly random direction. He moved so fast that Marek felt the throw up he finally got to settle back into his stomach started to come up again.

Covering his month and closing his eyes, Marek thought of everything that happened the past days, trying to force the throw up back down.

Marek couldn't understand anything. Nothing made sense, he knew his parents were hunters, but they retired years ago. Once in a while one of his parents would leave for a few days and comeback but other than that they did nothing besides look after him and teach him some basics of hunters.

It was frustrating to him, he received some answers, but every time he got an answer another ten questions appeared in its place.

Should I do a mass release of 20-50 chapters or try to do daily updates? If I mass release then it’ll take a few weeks to write and edit the chapters.
