Sophia's Christmas - Fourth Place

On the morning of Christmas, a little girl named Sophia went dashing down the stairs, delighted and overjoyed. She had just asked Santa for a pet puppy, and there was no way that she would get disappointed at all.

After all, Santa was able to get anything that anyone asked for, so it shouldn't be too much trouble to get a puppy!

She ran towards the tree, and found a large box covered in a special kind of wrapping. It was large enough that it could easily fit her entire body, and she delightfully undid all the wrapping.

Then, the gift was revealed, and her face went from complete excitement to utter confusion.

Instead of a puppy, there was a little baby chimera that was currently eating up a chicken with brutal fashion, chomping on bones and burping with its lion's head. It looked up at her, and hissed like a snake.

Wordlessly, Sophia looked around for the reason for this, and found a card on top of the cage that was holding this monster. She picked it up, and began to read it.

Dear Miss Little Sophia,

I had received your request for a little cute puppy, and decided to grant you the joy of owning a pet! Unfortunately, because Hell is short in puppies (God steals them all like the little thief he is), we had to go with the alternate route of giving you something at least close to that.

We didn't have any actual baby animals down in hell that we could use, so we decided to just gift you a newly hatched Chimera. As apologies for being unable to grant you exactly what you had requested, we decided to only take one-tenth of your soul. After all, it wouldn't be fair to take your whole soul from a failed bargain.

After reading this letter, Sophia looked down at the baby chimera, who was now chewing on the bars with its very sharp teeth. She could only sigh at the fact that she didn't get a puppy, before going to the kitchen to get some meat.

The very least she could do was have this one cute monster as a pet. After all, a chimera had some dog in it, right?
