Family Dinner

At last, it's dinner. I took Jamie with me to my house and showed him around. "I honestly don't know if I'm allowed to be here. Even though she invited me..." I say. "It'll be fine, Jane." He says. "No, my mom doesn't even love me." I say. "It's been a while. I'm sure time has passed and she'll forgive you." He says. "I can't afford a dorm, so that's another reason I'm living with you in the meanwhile." I say. "I was hoping, maybe you'd just move in with me..?" He asks. We stop in the middle of the hallway and we hold both hands. "I'd love to" I say. I lean in and then we kiss. "Well, time for dinner..." I say.

We are now at the table and I'm introducing my mother to Jamie. My stepdad is never really home so he has an exception for tonight. "Mom, Dad... This is Jamie, My boyfriend..." I say. "Nice to meet you Mister and misses Foster" He says with a smile. "So, since when?" My mom asks. "Uhm, I don't really remember..." He says. "Yes, It is very complicated." I say. "What happened to that Yumi girl?" My dad asks. "Dad." I say. "No, no it's fine. Yumi just turned out to be... Non loyal." He says, still smiling. I turn to look at him and he looks like he's really enjoying hisself. And... It made me smile too. While sitting down, Jamie and I still hold hands. "Sweetie... Come back home. We miss you..." My mom says. I look at Jamie and don't know what to do. "Go ahead." Jamie says as he smiles at me. "Thank you for your offer." I say. "Jane, we just want our little girl back." My dad says. "And you will. I'll move back in." I say. "I'm going to try and get some sleep." I say. I get up still holding his hand. He hesitates. "Come on" I say smiling. He gets up and we walk to the bedroom. "What's this for?" He asks. "I've been... Hesitating, too much." I say. "Are you sure? I mean, shouldn't we do this elsewhere. More private?" He asks. "It'll be fine." I say. "Whatever you wish" He says. I walk to the door and lock it. I walk back towards him and we look at each other. "Jane, are you sure you really want this? Are you sure your ready?" He asks. "Better now than never." I say. Jamie reaches for my shirt. He slowly takes it off. We then kiss. We take everything very slowly.

It's after a while and we are lying in my bed together. "Jamie?" I say. "Yes Jane?" He says. "Do you think my parents noticed?" I ask. "Well, what do you think?" He asks. "Definitely." I laugh. "At least we are alone together" I say as I shuffle myself the other way to face him. I slowly fall asleep into his arms.

It's morning and I wake up to Jamie. I wonder what journey is up for us next year.
