Dimensional Travel: The Ageless Wanderer

Max Draven, a high school student, was tormented by his bully, Dany, the son of the city's top businessman, and his gang. The relentless bullying pushed Max to the brink of suicide, but he lacked the courage to follow through and didn’t want to worry his parents. One day, during another round of torment, Max accidentally fell from the roof of the school building. Miraculously, he survived but slipped into a coma. In the darkness of his subconscious, Max found himself in a vast, lightless space. Confused, he heard a voice from behind him: "This is inside your subconscious mind." Turning around, he saw a shadow of an old man with long hair and beard, his eyes glowing light blue and exuding a dominating presence. "Who are you?" Max asked. "I’m you, and you are me. We are one. Live with no regrets," the old man replied. As Max stared in confusion, his head began to hurt again. After four long months, Max finally woke up. His eyes glowed a light blue. As he began to wonder where he was, a sharp pain surged through his head. The nurse walked in and, seeing him in agony, called for the doctor in a panic. The doctor rushed in and administered an injection, slowly easing Max’s pain and lulling him into a deep slumber. After some time he woke up to see his mother by his side sleeping from exhaustion. "I'm back. Is this really true? What day is today?" he murmured. "June 6th, 2024. It’s only been four months then." With a perplexed look, Max pondered what was real and what was a dream. He knew that this was real; he had returned after what felt like 400 years of hell. He was glad. "Ha…" he sighed in relief. Thoughts of his bullies filled his mind, and his eyes glowed with a deadly rage and killing intent. "Every one of you will pay for what you did. I’ll make sure you do." During his coma, Max's consciousness had accidentally traveled to a world full of war and conflict, inhabited by cultivators and sects. He had endured 400 years of strife and hardship there, but in the real world, only four months had passed. Now, armed with the knowledge and strength from his otherworldly experience, Max was determined to seek vengeance on those who had tormented him. The bullies who had pushed him to the edge would soon face the consequences of their actions.

A love proposal

The next day, Max woke up early and got ready for school. After enjoying the delicious breakfast his mom prepared, he headed to the train station. He didn't see Cedric there, which was unusual. Usually, Cedric would be waiting with a bright smile. The train started moving, but Cedric was nowhere in sight. Worried, Max took out his phone and called him.

*Ring* *Ring*

"Hello," Cedric answered, his voice sounding a bit weak.

"Hi Cedric, I didn't see you on the train today. Are you alright?" Max asked, concern evident in his voice.

"No, bro. I'm alright, just got a cold," Cedric replied, sounding congested.

"I see... Take some rest and get well soon. I'll inform the teacher for you," Max said, relieved to hear it was just a cold.

"Thanks, bro," Cedric said, grateful.

"Take care," Max said as the call ended.

At school, Max entered the classroom and saw Gwen. When their eyes met, Max greeted her with a warm smile. Gwen blushed and quickly looked down, her reaction more intense than usual. Lately, Gwen had been acting shy around Max, but today it seemed different. Max noticed many students exchanging chocolates, cards, and letters. Suddenly, it hit him—today was Valentine's Day.

'So... today is Valentine's Day,' he thought, feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness. Max had been so busy with his studies and other activities that he hadn't realized the significance of the day. He glanced at Gwen again, thinking, 'Should I just say it today?'

Although he had shown his interest in Gwen, he had never explicitly told her how he felt. As he pondered how to propose, the school bell rang, and their strict, bald classroom teacher entered the room, starting the class.

---

After the class, Gwen walked toward the school gate. Normally, Max would offer to walk her home, but today he seemed preoccupied. Despite it being a special day for most students, Gwen felt a headache coming on. She wondered if Max would give her a gift or even propose. Blushing at her thoughts, she shook her head. "It's alright if he doesn't say it. Maybe he needs more time. Should I wait?" she thought to herself.

But then she imagined other girls getting close to Max, and a new resolve filled her. "I can't afford to wait anymore. Today, I'm going to propose to Max," she decided. But what if he said no? The thought made her sad.

As her mind raced, she felt a hand on her shoulder. Turning, she saw Max with a warm smile. Shocked, she froze.

"Hey Gwen, are you free today?" Max asked, his voice gentle.

Gwen stood there like a statue, her mind blank.

Max waved his hand in front of her. "Hey Gwen, are you there?" he asked, smiling.

Realizing she was staring, she stammered, "Y-Yeah... sure... Where do you want to go?"

"Well, that's a secret," Max said with a mischievous smile. Gwen's heart raced, wondering if he was going to propose.

"Let's go," Max said, taking her hand. She followed, stunned but happy. This was the first time they held hands, and it felt surreal.

He led her to a nearby coffee shop where they ordered cappuccinos. Max took out his phone and asked, "Can you give me your number?" Gwen looked at him, shocked but quickly agreed.

After exchanging numbers, Max started a conversation. "You know, Cedric got a cold. I just talked to him this morning," he said, trying to break the ice.

"I see," Gwen replied, blushing, not knowing what to say next.

They talked about random things, finishing their coffee. Max then led Gwen to a dark valley. Her heart pounded as she wondered, "Is he going to do it here?"

Max stopped and turned to Gwen. "Close your eyes," he said softly. Trusting him, she complied. "Whatever happens, don't open your eyes," he added.

Before she could respond, Max carried her like a princess. Making sure her eyes stayed closed, he jumped high, landing on a nearby building. He smoothly leaped from one to another, eventually stopping on a rooftop. "Open your eyes," he said.

Gwen opened her eyes to see Max gazing at the stars. She turned to see them too, and they stood there holding hands. The view was breathtaking.

After a dream-like moment, Gwen turned to Max. "How did we get here? Are you some kind of hidden superhero?" she asked, her voice filled with awe.

"Maybe I am," Max replied with a smile, shocking her further.

"Really, like Spider-Man or Superman?" she asked, incredulous.

"Well, not exactly... but you could say that. Do you want to know why I brought you here?" he asked seriously.

Blushing and realizing, she said, "No way... for real?"

"Yep, Gwen, will you be my girlfriend?" he asked with a smile.

Tears of joy filled her eyes. "I do," she said, her voice trembling with happiness.

They kissed under the sparkling, star-filled sky, sharing a magical moment. Max had finally confessed his feelings, and Gwen's heart soared. The world around them faded as they embraced, knowing this was just the beginning of their story together.
