"We can do a rock-paper-scissors duel with a twist. If I win, you owe me a favor, and if you win, I'll owe you one."
Mai leaned forward, her arms still crossed, a smirk dancing on her lips. "Sounds like a pretty basic challenge, but I'm here for the entertainment. What do you say, Ryu? Up for it?"
Ryu nodded, feeling the competitive energy in the air. "I'm in. Let's do this."
Mikoto leaned forward, a mischievous glint in her eyes. "How about a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors? Best out of three!"
"Alright, I'm in," Ryu replied, a smile forming on his lips as he prepared himself.
The group gathered around the table, intrigued by the challenge. Motohama perked up, ready to cheer on his friend. "Let's see if you can take down the legendary Ryu!"
"Don't get too cocky," Mikoto warned playfully, her confidence unshaken.
They began the first round. Ryu called, "One, two, three!" and both revealed their hands simultaneously.
"Rock!" Ryu announced, a determined look on his face.
Mikoto, however, used her psychokinetic abilities to change her initial choice at the last moment. As Ryu revealed his rock, she flicked her wrist slightly, and paper materialized in her hand, covering his.
"Paper beats rock! I win!" she declared, a grin spreading across her face.
"Wow, I didn't see that coming!" Motohama exclaimed, nudging Matsuda. "Looks like she's a contender!"
"Just you wait! It's just one round!" Ryu shot back, his competitive spirit ignited.
"Round two!" Mikoto said, excitement dancing in her eyes. They squared off again, ready for a rematch.
"One, two, three!" Ryu shouted. This time, he chose scissors, his eyes focused on Mikoto.
In a clever move, Mikoto pretended to throw rock, but as Ryu revealed his scissors, she used her powers once more. With a subtle motion, she transformed her hand into scissors just as Ryu showed his choice.
"Tie!" Ryu exclaimed, frustration creeping into his voice.
Mai smirked, leaning back in her chair with an amused expression. "Looks like someone's getting lucky," she teased, enjoying the banter.
"Final round! Let's make this count!" Ryu challenged, determination shining in his eyes.
With the stakes higher, they both prepared for one last showdown.
"One, two, three!" they shouted together. Ryu threw out paper confidently, thinking he had the upper hand this time. But Mikoto, with a playful flick of her hand, switched her choice from rock to scissors in an instant.
"Scissors!" she shouted, the unexpected reveal catching everyone off guard. "I win again!"
Ryu blinked in surprise, disbelief washing over his face as laughter erupted around the table. "No way! You totally cheated!"
Mikoto laughed, clearly enjoying the moment. "A win is a win, right?"
Mikoto grinned, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Well, it looks like I won our little challenge, but I'll save my favor for another time. Right now, I want to know: who do you want to win over, Ryu?"
The question caught Ryu off guard. He had been so focused on the lighthearted banter that he hadn't thought about it. All eyes turned to him, curiosity piqued.
Ryu chuckled nervously, scratching the back of his head. "Honestly, I'm not really looking to win anyone over tonight. I just came to hang out with Issei and see what's going on."
Mikoto leaned in closer, a teasing smile on her lips. "Come on, there must be someone you have your eye on. Or are you just going to let Issei take the spotlight while you sit back and watch?"
Ryu glanced around at the girls, his mind racing.
"If I'm being honest, I want all of you. However, since I can only choose one, I want Riu"
Riu's expression remained unreadable for a moment, her cool demeanor intact. She raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms. "Oh? You think I'm someone worth pursuing?" she replied, her tone blunt but with a hint of curiosity behind it.
Mikoto's eyes widened in surprise. "Well, that's unexpected! Ryu, you really mean it?"
"Yeah" Ryu replied
Riu hesitated, a flicker of vulnerability passing through her eyes.
As the group started to disperse, Ryu caught Riu's gaze again. "So, how about we grab a drink and see where this goes?"
Riu shrugged, a mix of intrigue and challenge in her eyes. "Fine. But don't say I didn't warn you if I'm not what you expected."
"Alright, let's make this interesting! Who else wants to join us?" He turned to the other girls with a charming smile. "How about I take your hands and we make it a group outing?"
The girls exchanged glances, their expressions a mix of amusement and reluctance. One of them chuckled softly, "Thanks for the offer, Issei, but I think we're going to head out."
Mikoto chimed in, "Yeah, it's getting a bit late for us. Besides, we wouldn't want to cramp Ryu and Riu's style, right?"
Issei feigned disappointment, throwing his hands up dramatically. "Come on, don't leave me hanging here! You're all too much fun to just let go!"
However, they all planned to leave, leaving Issei disappointed.
As the mixer began to wind down, Ryu took the opportunity to gather the girls' numbers. He had a mix of excitement and nervousness as he approached each one.
Kaguya smiled warmly and extended her hand for a handshake. "You're not as shy as I thought you'd be, Ryu. Here's my number. Let's chat sometime."
Ryu grinned as he shook her hand, feeling a sense of accomplishment. "I'd like that!"
Next, Mai sauntered over, a playful smile on her lips. She leaned in closer, her voice low and teasing. "Here's my number, just in case you need a little adventure in your life." She winked at him, leaving Ryu feeling slightly flustered.
"Adventure, huh? I'll keep that in mind!" Ryu replied, trying to play it cool.
Finally, Mikoto approached him with a mischievous glint in her eyes. She leaned in and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek. "Don't forget about us, Ryu. You never know when you might need some backup," she said, her tone light but sincere.
"I won't forget! Thanks, Mikoto."
As the girls left, Ryu stood there, his heart racing. He couldn't believe how well the night had gone. With the numbers in hand, he felt a mix of anticipation and curiosity about what would come next.
Riu, watching him from a few steps away, raised an eyebrow. "Looks like you made quite the impression tonight."
Ryu chuckled, still processing everything. "Guess so. But I'm more interested in seeing where this goes with you."
