Secrets calling bloodshed

They stared at each other for a brief moment till suddenly Luamisa took off

Athena climbed her window ready to jump off when a hand gripped her.

She looked behind her to see Prince Marcus peering at her,his blond hair tossing to the rhythm of the wind coming into the room through the open window.

"I should go with you"he said with concern written on his face, clearly understanding the situation.

Luamisa was her squire and Killing her would not be easy, Athena was not sure she could do it, Luamisa was more like a younger sibling to her, had always been but she could not risk being seen chasing her with Prince Marcus.People would know something was off,she had to do this alone.

Athena had never killed a friend, what more an ally but neither could she let words go around.

The chief Knight shook her head.

"Stay here...I can handle this"she said then she jumped off.

Her black wings spread out as she followed in pursuit,the cold wind wiping against the gown she wore.She quickly morphed into her silver and purple armory.

From her position she could see Luamisa had flown at a good distance from her.She was pretty damn fast and was flying towards the Emperor's quaters.

Athena grimaced where was she running to,does she think she could get away from me.

Luamisa felt a pull on her hand and she was teleported immediately outside the imperial palace.

Her eyes scanned the landscape below, a large mass of land with no houses,she couldn't smell any demon around either.she recognized the terrain,it was somewhere in Urah some distance away from the imperial palace but her knight was nowhere around her.

Luamisa quickly turned and flew in the direction of the imperial palace.

Athena vanished and appeared Infront of her squire folding her hands and her squire let out a loud gasp on seeing her.

She immediately boosted off, ascending higher above the clouds as fast as she could,her heartbeat racing,terribly wishing she could use space magic and teleport immediately to the emperor's quaters but she couldn't she was merely at lower middle tier level,only from an advanced middle tier could one begin using space magic and that was Athena's level.Her knight wouldn't even give her a chance to use her powers,no she couldn't.Athena could easily teleport herself before she landed a hit on her.Staying to fight was futile as well,she was no match.

Athena scoffed and vanished again.

Suddenly Luamisa took a huge punch on her face.It sent her flying backwards and downwards but her wings helped her.

When she had fallen at a good distance,they lifted her again,flapping against the wind.

She staggered in air trying to stabilize her body and rubbing the area of her face that had been hit with the back of her palm.

Luamisa barely blinked when she took another hit from above.This time,it sent her falling downwards and at a greater speed.

The force her knight used in hitting her this time was greater than the first,she had lost control of her wings and entire body,the air pressure pulling her swiftly downwards.

Luamisa closed her eyes as she felt herself falling for a long time till she hit solid ground with her back.

Groaning in pain,she ached all over,her whole body feeling numb from the fall.

The next second Athena was Infront of her , looking down at her with rage and disgust in her eyes.A different knight now stood Infront of her,not the one she used to know,the compassion and calmness in her eyes was all gone now.She had never seen Athena glared at anyone this way before,not even at a foe.

Luamisa tried to get up with her hand but her whole body wouldn't yield.She had broken a few bones.

"Why_"she cried out"My lady...whu_"

"Why did you have to evesdrop Luamisa...why did you have to be the one"Athena cut in.

"I was...was just trying to protect you mu..my lady...I saw Prince Marcus app_approach your chambers everyone knows how he is...ho_honesty I wish I hadn't find out but now I did... forgive me my lady I can't just let this slide".

Athena frowned and raised a brow.

Luamisa's gut seemed to disgust her.she wouldn't let this slide?what would she do?she couldn't beat her.She had expected her squire to plead for mercy not speak this boldy at her.Even at that she wouldn't spare her.She would simply be digging her own grave if she did.

Luamisa gripped the sand below her and turned her head to see if Athena realised what she was trying to do.

A small smirk formed on her lips when she knew the Chief knight didn't.

When Athena noticed it was already too late, Luamisa had tossed the sand into her eyes.

Athena growled and took few steps backwards, covering her eyes with the back of her forearm.She tried opening her eyes but couldn't,just then Athena's nose caught a scent of another demon in the vicinity.It was Gerald and she could hear the sound of his wings flapping their way.He was outside the imperial palace and must have been alerted by the sound of Luamisa's fall.

She would have to finish up her squire quickly before he got here.

Luamisa grabbed this opportunity and lifted herself with her huge wings, flapping her wings harder she tried to ascend but they could barely lift her off the ground.

"You can't get away from me Luamisa you know I can smell you and hear every bone in your body"Athena grinned as she walked towards her.

The smile on her Knight's face frightened her

She had forgotten her knight was a much higher level demon compared to her,every demon's hearing and smell was heightened depending on their level of cultivation.

"I did not think I'll have to use my powers on you Luamisa...I must commend you,you have improved quite a lot...it was a splendid idea to use the soil to your advantage...you have my encomium".

Luamisa quickly searched her head for what to do,she tried telepathy but Athena had blocked hers.

A gleam of hope shone in Luamisa's eyes when Gerald entered her field of smell,she percieved his scent and opened her mouth to yell for help but Athena didn't let the words come out,she used a spell to seal her lips.

The words didn't come out,they couldn't,the lips sealing spell could only be broken by one in same level of cultivation as the caster,that was when Luamisa finally fell on her knees and lowered her head,waiting for the end.She knew it had come,she would die by the hands of the one person she had loved and devoted her whole orphan life to.

Fresh tears leaked out her eyes,flowing down her chin as she closed her eyes.

Athena percieved her squire's sadness and the smile on her lips disappeared.

She wasn't enjoying this,she didn't want to do this but she had to,she had no choice.

The chief Knight streched out a hand and summoned a sword in front of her.

She sent it flying in the opposite direction, straight at Luamisa and into her chest.

Luamisa felt the metal cut her as it drove deeper into her chest, cutting her flesh first then several organs.

She felt blood accumulate in her mouth which she had no strength to cough out instead it leaked out from a corner of her mouth, staining the braided brown hair that fell down her shoulder on that side and the clothes she wore.

She felt real pain,felt her sight grow blur then her whole body went numb.

Luamisa shut her eyes to the darkness,not a sound was heard, nothing was seen,just darkness,she dropped dead.

Athena couldn't see her yet she pictured her lifeless body in front of her.

Series of emotions ran through her.She felt like letting out a loud shriek to ease a fraction of the grief she felt but she composed herself,the Emperor's knight would be here any moment and she wouldn't want to give herself away.

Athena quickly knelt beside Luamisa,drew out her sword and drove it in the same opening hers had made then she made her sword vanish.

She quickly opened her eyes to spot Luamisa's hand but the sand stung her making her shut it immediately.

Drawing out sword,she placed it in her squire's hand.

This would give her a good lie then she aroused again, awaiting the emperor's knight arrival.

"Athena!"Came Gerald's voice as he landed.His eyes caught sight of the bloody mess next to her,he recognized the body.

"Athena what is this?"he turned to her.

Athena didn't meet his gaze she had never been a good liar and had no intention of giving herself away,the knight might get suspicious if she said anything.She turned to leave but Gerald caught her arm and pulled her back.

"Athena!"he demanded"Answer me!"

"I don't have to answer to you"she snapped.

"You will explain this and now"Gerald barked.

Athena didn't respond,just lowered her head.That was when Gerald noticed her eyes had been shut the whole time.

"What got into your eyes?"he asked,his voice now softened.

"My squire threw soil into my eyes"

Gerald dipped his hand into a small purse he always hung on his waist and brought out a tiny transparent triangular container.

"Spirit water"he said"I got it from sorceror city on my way here...pour into your eyes it's good for stuffs like this".

Athena collected it and emptied it's contents into her eyes.

He blinked severally and the sand was gone,she could see clearly now.

"I would like to get more of this"

"Sadly,it's the last one from spirit fountain in sorceror city,the fountain just dried up,human essence isn't being fed into it anymore.The little they get is distributed to the people...you haven't answered my question"he reminded.

The chief Knight raised her gaze up to him,a man the same height as she and for some reason her heartrate increased.It wasn't due to fright or discomfort but rather a reason she had no idea of.

She decided to answer his question,if she didn't it would arouse suspicions and Gerald was the emperor's knight,becoming his suspect was as good as being the emperor's suspect.She wasn't interested in men but Athena didn't know why her heart raced any time her eyes met his even from a distance.She would have to find out why and getting on his bad side wouldnt do her that favor.

Thankfully Gerald couldn't hear her heartbeating fast he wasn't at commander tier yet else she would have been caught immediately.She placed a hand on her chest trying to calm it down but when it didn't she averted her gaze.

Athena had to think of something to say and fast.

Just then an idea popped up in her head.

"Turns out she partook in poisoning the empress she was caught and took her life so she wouldn't spill the truth nor expose her accomplainces.They seem to have made an oath to take their life inorder not to expose themselves.I tried to stop this but it was too late for her.

Gerald eyed her doubtfully and his eyes settled on the hand on her chest but she noticed and quickly removed it.Gerald thought he saw a twinkle in her eyes.

"Very well...you should leave...I'll take care of this body"

Athena swallowed with difficulty

Take care?what did he mean by take care.She did the bloody mess why not she dispose of the body?had she been caught already?He wants to do it himself turns out he didn't completely believe her.

Athena exhaled softly and disappeared hoping Gerald doesn't get to nosey.She wouldn't want to be the cause of death of another innocent person.
