A Feast for fangs

As they marched through the forest trees, for a while no sound was heard except the rustling of leaves and the sound of their horses feet's as they trampled the forest floor.

Having turned and now marching in the opposite direction gave everyone a hint on the situation at hand but still they followed Tyran in silence, their confidence in him rooted deeply within their hearts, that he still lead them towards the goal.

No one asked questions or even whispered their thoughts including the few among the kings and generals who knew of the alpha's existence.

They had known earlier the Emperor never mentioned it at any of the meetings yet no one spoke of it.

It's existence was a secret hidden away which could only be found in Old locked away scripts,it was one of those.... forbidden information, how would they explain how they knew of it if words reached the emperor.

All eyes darted around their surroundings as they rode on edge, pricked by the burdensome eerie silence that clothed the atmosphere.

Gerald's black horse marched behind the emperor's along with Rengyoutsu's white horse according to Tyran's wishes to have them both by his side during the battle.

The Emperor's knight strained his ears to hear past his hearing range but all he could hear and percieve was the rustling sound of leaves and the smell of some forest animals.

"Your majesty...the silence of this place keeps me on edge,we should have crossed path with some savages by now"Gerald said from behind the emperor while cranning his neck to see in front of him.

Tyran only nodded but didn't turn his head.

Gerald watched him.

From the way his head was slightly lowered, Gerald could tell his concentration wasn't on the battle at hand, mentally he wasn't there with them.

"Could they have been expecting us?"Gerald asked but regretted asking as soon as the words came out.

That was a dumb question and the emperor's glare at him confirmed it.

Savages were dumb and without natural sense of reasoning, there was no way this could be planned.

Unless something was actually off, they were bound to run into one of those creatures sooner or later.

"Forgive me your imperial majesty....I must be out of my mind to have said tha_"

Tyran's horse stopped suddenly and so did his company.

They had all percieved something.

The savages, that was their smell. As the scent grew closer, the whole forest began to rumble under the impact of their foot as they raced along the forest floor.

Soon,Snarls and howls mingled with the sound of heavy footsteps was heard from every corner as they drew even closer.

Gerald watched Tyran's eyes dart all over the place as he turned his head from side to side.

"They didn't wait for us to ambush...what does this mean your majesty?"

"Doesn't matter, let them come... they've come for a feast now haven't they...let's find out who feasts best!"

"They seem to have come in their numbers your imperial majesty, their scent is everywhere"

Tyran turned to Gerald.

"Fly above us and estimate their numbers!"he ordered.

Gerald nodded, his black wings protruded from behind him and they lifted him off the ground above them all.

He could feel their eyes on him as he ascended above the forest trees, watching the warriors below him grow even smaller.

When he was far above the trees he looked below him and his eyes caught a shocking sight.

The beasts were almost upon them and they had come in multitudes, maybe tens of thousands,Gerald had never seen this much savages in his entire life.

From above they looked like tiny ants rushing over a cube of sugar at an unbelievably terrorizing speed.

He descended a little below the trees to get a closer look.

Some savages directly below him immediately percieved his scent, stopped and snarled in his direction.

Luckily for him they had no wings.

What he saw left him thinking if the emperor had called all his men out to their deaths as he descended.

Killing savages wasn't so difficult but with this number they were bound to suffer a lot of casualties.

This wasn't what Tyran had been expectingbut still they had a battle plan to deal with their numbers.Despite the fact the imperial army wasn't included in the battle they would still attain victory had they ambushed their den and taken down a few hundreds at a time as planned.

Gerald landed behind his horse wondering in their battle strategy would still suffice.

He landed beside his horse and walked towards the emperor with a bothered look on his face.

"Your imperial majesty, they are in their numbers...tens of thousands or even more....we are completely surrounded and they are gaining on us....fast!"

Immediately chatter erupted from every corner of the forest but no one dared say anything against the emperor.

Tyran's face showed no trace of surprise. He looked down at Gerald from his horse, his eyes most intimidating.

"On what side do we have the most multitude?"

"From the west your imperial majesty"

Tyran opened his mouth to speak but didn't,instead he turned his horse around to face the king's behind him.

"You heard him...order your men great kings I will leave for the west with my knights and all my generals as I have the most number of men...the rest of you kings merge your knights with another and ride in two's in the other direction"

Tyran's eyes searched through the crowd for Chief Knight Zero but couldn't find him.

"Chief Knight Zero!"he called out.

Zero immediately emerged from the crowd as some horses further away drifted apart creating a path for him.

Wearing a black helmet which exposed only his eyes, lips and chin over a black and purple armour made him almost unrecognizable among the other chief knights from Urah who wore the same armour.

"You're riding with me!"Tyran ordered as he drew closer to him.

A half smile spread across the knight's face as he shot a glance Gerald's way.

Even if the Knight wore a helmet he could never confuse him for someone else, the ever impringing feature of his blond haired child hood friend and besides he was the only Knight in the Realm who held the honour of wearing a Gold armour as the Emperor's knight.

This was exactly what he wanted, this way he would keep a close eye on Gerald and thwart all of Dark's plans.

But what bothered him was....

He looked Tyran's way, wondering what was going through his head.

Originally he was King Maxmillian's knight but why had Tyran requested he rode by his side.

The emperor raised a fist in the air yelling out his next words,a fierce expression on his face.

"Fret not!...Remember we are here to both capture and kill....Their numbers not withstanding we are more powerful,we are here for victory!"

The King's responded with a battle cry and rode out seperating into twos in three directions along with their Knights behind them, their battle Cries filling the forest.
