Businesswoman At Heart

After making some arrangements with Brutus on the issue of transporting materials and supplies to the settlement back in the mountains, Michael rounded up his men and begun the trek back home.

"Leader."

Aiden called out to Michael on the way back.

"Hmm?" Michael hummed but didn't turn back as he played with a rock in his palm.

"If I must say... You were amazing back there!" The golden Lizardman basically had stars in his eyes as he clasped his smaller hands together and gazed up at Michael. The remaining Lizardmen were in a similar condition, and it was actually quite funny when Michael saw a massive Lizardman like Reinhard acting like a lovesick fan boy.

"Why, thank you!" Michael grinned and spun on his heels with his arms raised to support his head as he walked backwards. "It wasn't as easy to beat Ignis as I thought, but in the end, I came through, displaying power that even I didn't know I had." He brought down a hand to his face level and clenched it.

During the battle, when things were getting more heated, he had tapped into that power, that vast, vast, endless power. Overload. That was what the System called it.

Michael shook his head and pushed those confusing feelings and thoughts to the deepest parts of his mind before turning forward. Behind him, the men continued to gush about their leader's overwhelming strength, their voices reaching his ears in hushed whispers.

The situation brought a smile to Michael's lips. He would never miss an opportunity to flex his strength before his people, so as to cement it into their minds who is truly in charge.

It didn't take too long for the group to reach the entrance to the cave that was at the bottom of one of the outer mountains of the mountain range. What they didn't expect though, was the steady stream of traffic that led to and from the cave entrance. A lane of Lizardmen carrying various different materials entered the cave, while another lane of Lizardmen left the cave and disappeared into the forest. It seemed the entire workforce of the Lizardmen was being put to use, and the culprit currently stood at the mouth of the cave, inspecting every material that entered into the cave.

Ramita stood with her hands on her hips, occasionally calling out instructions or stepping in to correct something that needed correction. The moment the party that went to conquer the Red Scaled Lizardmen stepped out from the other side of the forest, they could feel over fifty pairs of eyes on them. It was quite unnerving. Traffic temporarily stopped as everyone wanted to catch a peek of their leader.

"Leader." Ramita stepped down from the raised boulder that she was stepping on as soon as she saw Michael an approached, her slender tail swaying behind her. She stopped a couple feet before him and bowed her head.

"Ramita, what's going on here?" Michael motioned to the lines of Lizardmen. A few Red Scaled Lizardmen that he had sent back before him could be seen among the mass of Lizardmen, although they were given a wide berth. The Yellow Scaled Lizardmen weren't all too comfortable around them yet.

Milizaus came running out of the cave a few seconds later.

"Leader." He bowed.

"Enough, enough! I want to know what is happening here. What are all our people doing outside?" Michael motioned again to the lines.

"Leader... Upon our arrival with the red Lizardmen, Ramita pointed out that our supplies will be insufficient to support our growing community. Especially if we intend to conquer the surrounding tribes of Lizardmen." Milizaus began explaining. "Mobilizing our entire workforce was Ramita's suggestion, but I take full responsibility for whatever it is that might happen." Milizaus kept his head down as he spoke.

"I see..." Michael mumbled as he rubbed the scales on his jaw. He understood their reason behind it, but from what he had seen up until now, he had imagined that such a matter would have been brought to his attention before any action was carried out. That made his eyes settle on the person who was responsible for thinking up this idea. Ramita.

"Ramita." Michael's cool blue eyes scanned the female from top to bottom.

"Leader." Ramita bowed again.

"This leader stuff is getting annoying. If I'm going to lord over so many tribes of Lizardmen, then maybe I should go by Patriarch." Michael mumbled under his breath before speaking out loud to Ramita.

"Your idea is quite decent, but needs some refinement. We can work it out properly with the adventurers when they come around in the next few days. Until then though, carry on as you have been. We'll need to talk more about this later, though. For now, I just want to get some rest. I'm tired."

Michael waved the Lizardmen away before carrying on into the cave. Wherever he passed, Lizardmen parted like the sea. He was too tired to care.

The moment he made it to his private quarters, he slumped to the floor and curled up in a corner. The Lizardmen with his took up guard positions outside to make sure no one disturbed his rest. With a content smile, Michael slipped into a deep sleep that he hadn't had the chance to enjoy ever since he was reborn into this world.

Michael woke up slowly, feeling his mind lagging behind and trying to wake up. That had been one of the best rests he had gotten since he was reborn into this world. He sat up and stretched his arms over his head, feeling a bit weird. His back felt slightly heavier and unbalanced, and his body felt larger.

Michael looked at the System prompt that blinked in front of his eyes with shock.
