Chapter 79: Guest Of Honor

She has a million questions, most of them about her mother and father, but Didi isn't given the time she needs to ask them or even a moment of peace until she finds herself, what seems like a lifetime later, firmly ensconced in her own rooms.

Head whirling, heart still not beating its normal, steady rhythm quite yet, Didi sinks into a padded wingback upholstered in deep, soft blue and tries to make sense of what the actual snargling fargle just happened to her.

One second she's gaping at her grandfather's pronouncement of some kind of party and the next she's hustled out of his bedroom and into another, more spacious room on the other side of the door. It's a sitting room of some kind, filled with large, lush chairs in deep red, with what looks like an actual working fireplace against one wall. The far end is host to another pair of massive doors, a long, gleaming table shining in the far space, more of the elaborate and immensely sparkly chandeliers hanging over her dazed head.
