Diary From Another World (Reincarnate to Rule)

Let me tell you straight up, the mc here is ... how should I say it ... INTERESTING. After he was reborn into a world with a game system, our mc thought that the new world he got into is going to be like one of those isekai that he have to kill bosses to level up. But why is this world so different? Where are the other monsters, the bosses that he need to overcome? Is this really just a simple isekai? With a unique style of storytelling from the mc's own diaries and his master's degree in Isekai tropes being useless, how can our mc survive in his new world?

Recruitment (Part 5)

After that, she took something out of her pocket and smashed it. An instant bang of light almost blinded my eyes. "Long Dao! What's going on?" I yelled, panicking at what just happened.

A few seconds later, after my eyes were back to normal, I opened and saw a vast land before me. I was on a hill now, and far out, I could see the city we were just in. "How am I here?" I thought. "Long Dao? Kim Sat?" I called their names in the hope of getting a response.

"Behind," Long Dao's calm voice didn't let me hope any longer.

I turned around and saw Long Dao and Kim Sat laying there on the grass. Kim Sat was unconscious.

"What happened to him?" I asked while handing out my hand to help her stand up.

"I knocked him down when the light distracted everyone," she answered and took my hand to lift herself.

"By the way, how did we get out of there?" I questioned her again.

"Teleport," she replied with one word but that was just enough.

"Ah. Right. I forgot," I admitted. We then turned our eyes on Kim Sat who was just lifeless on the grass. "What should we do now?" I wondered.

"I thought you would know," Long Dao said.

"Hm? Why?" I turned my eyes to her, being curious.

"You have been the one that made decisions when we first came here?" she replied.

Think for a while, I asked her another question, "Why did you even let me take the lead now that I think of it? Wasn't this supposed to be your mission? Why didn't you take charge?"

A brief silence went by, then Long Dao responded calmly, "How could I take charge when you always running around?"

When I heard that, I got embarrassed and lowered my head. "Sorry, I didn't mean to."

Long Dao didn't show any sign of frustration, "But because you, we finally got some lead to follow."

"Phai's master?" I asked.

She nodded. "Let's set up a camp. There isn't much time until the sunsets. He should be up in a few hours," Long Dao suggested.

I nodded, and we quickly went to look for woods and leaves. After a camp was built, we went to find food and caught some wild animals nearby. After having a fire, Long Dao and I sat down, cooked the food, and talked about what we should do next. I won't tell you what our plan is since it will be like a spoiler. If you want to know, you BETTER keep reading. Ha Ha, no pressure… but don't even think about stop reading… or else…

Anyway, when we finished discussing our plan was when Kim Sat woke up. "Ah," he rubbed his head. "Where am I?" He started looking around until he saw us sitting by the fire looking at him.

"Hi," I said.

"Um… Hi?" Kim Sat responded. "How am I here? And wait, it is dark already? How long have I been unconscious?" He kept asking as he continued to look around.

"We got you here after knocking down those bastards to prevent them from taking revenge," Long Dao was the one answered this time.

I quickly turned to Long Dao raising my eyebrows to like, "Why are we lying?" She looked at me and gave me a long blink, signaling that she knew what she was doing. So I just stayed quiet.

"Oh really? I can't remember anything after the light. What was that anyway?" Kim Sat asked.

"It is just a tool of mine for getting out of tough situations," she replied vaguely.

"I haven't seen anything like that before. I was really lucky to have you two help," he smiled at us. "Wait! I thought you two left before the fight!" he suddenly got up.

Long Dao acted like she didn't hear anything and kept poking my arms.

"Oh! Of course, I have to be the one to say it!" I screamed inside.

"That… *ahem* We are kind of curious so…we hid behind a wall to watch."

"How could you two be so careless like that? What if you get hurt…" Kim Sat was scolding us but he stopped at midpoint. "Right, I saw how strong you two are." He then bowed at us, "Thank you for saving me back then. I don't know how to ever repay you."

I and quickly declined. "It was no need for you to be this formal."

"How is saving a life being seen as nothing? I am a righteous man! This debt, I owe you!" Kim Sat spoke.

"Uhm…" I didn't know how to respond to that.

"Dinner's ready," Long Dao said as she took out the meat of the fire.

"Yes!" I immediately turned to her. Seeing that we both ignored him, Kim Sat sat down with us.

"Here," Long Dao handed him a portion of meat.

"Thank you," he replied.

I was anticipating the same treatment, but… "Get it yourself," was what she said.

Even though it kinda made me sad, I was too hungry to think much about it. I took a portion and started eating as well.

Our dinner was great. All three of us ate without being interrupted. When we finished, we talked a bit before going to sleep.

"What happened to your arm?" I asked while looking at it.

Kim Sat looked at me with a surprised face. "How do you know about my arm?" he asked back at me.

"I saw you were hugging it when we ran to you. That's all," I replied.

"Ah!" he understood. "My arm was like this after I defended my master from bad people. It's a shame. If I wasn't careless, I wouldn't be in that situation," I told us with a smile.

Seeing this as an opportunity, I didn't waste my time. "Your master…" I tried to be careful with my words. "Why did you avoid talking about your master?"

"..." Kim Sat seemed like he didn't want to talk, and I would have continued if he doesn't want to. "My master is supposed to be a secret here to the Lan people. That was why I panicked when I slipped my words back then," he said.

"If she is such a secret, then you must be special as well to protect her," I said.

Kim Sat looked up at us, I saw in his eyes sadness and grief, but that quickly went away. He was back to smiling. "No, not at all. I was lucky that my master found me on the road when she was on her way to Lan. She kept me because I didn't have any place to go, and in return, I tried to protect her. Even though I said that I was more like a guess at her place than anything else," he quickly explained.

"Why were you on the street? What happened?" I was curious, but Kim Sat, once again, his eyes for a moment show a bit of sadness.

"It's late now. Let's go to sleep," Long Dao spoke for the first time and glanced at me with her bullet eyes. It was as though she sensed something from Kim Sat too and tried to help resolve the awkward situation.

"Yeah! I'm so sleepy right now," I understood and pretended to yawn.

"Me too," Kim Sat also responded.

And with that, we set up some leaves as beds and lay close to the fire. I was troubled with tons of questions in my mind but fell asleep quickly after a tiredly long day.

End of Diary.
