Chapter 31

Elden stared at the paper in his hands. It was the complete record of Captain Lance.

' Well at least I finally have my chance. ' Elden thought while smiling.

" What's got you in such a good mood? " Fox asked.

Elden looked up from the papers and looked at Fox. She was wearing casual clothes. Mainly a large white shirt with shorts showing off her smooth legs and curves.

" Got a chance to get Lance to join us. " Elden said.

" I see. Well good luck. " Fox said before grabbing a book and sitting on the couch.

Elden looked her and had an idea.

' Sigh i might die but it will be worth it. ' Elden thought.

" Thanks for the vote of confidence. I'll be back later. " Elden said.

" Okay. " Fox said before freezing as she felt something warm on her cheek.

Quickly to punch the person who did it she missed as she looked Eldne having a grin on his face.

Elden looked at Fox and took in her expression. She looked so adorable with that blush in her face.

" Worth it. " Elden said before stopping a kunai from hitting his face with a void wall.

" I hate you. " Fox said scowling.

" I love you too. " Elden said before teleporting out of the room.

Sitting on the couch Fox battled her face into her hands as her blush reached her ears.

" Dammit. Why do I feel like this every time?" Fox muttered as she remembered how Elden teased her everytime since she came here.

" Dammit I need to Rose and Lisanna to fix this. " Fox muttered.

" But reading is more important. " Fox muttered as she went back to reading.

' Tch how annoying. ' Lance thoight as he read another report.

After the incident with the royal, the king ordered a search to check the other royals houses to find anything suspicious.

However nothing has turned up from the investigations. Lance knew better though.

" Sigh. They must have removed all the evidence while using bribes. " Lance muttered. His eyes were hollow and were just an empty void.

" Right on the money. "

' That voice.. '

Looking up from his desk he saw Eldne right in front of him, sitting on the guest chair.

Reacting quickly, Lance was going to release his magic but..

" Woe relax." Elden said as he raised his hands up. Lance stopped as he looked at Elden. He stared at Eldne who was just smiling at him.

Sighing he calmed down and sat on his chair.

" Eldne why are you here? " Lance asked as he leaned back on his chair.

" To ask you a question. " Elden said with a smile.

" I see. Just get it over with. " Lance said with a bored tone.

" How does it feel being blackmailed? " Elden said.

Silence filled the room as Lance widened his eyes. He robotically looked at Elden who was looking at him

" How do you know that? " Lance asked with a dead tone. His eyes were lifeless but held rage and fear in the back.

" Simple. Research. " Elden said before turning serious.

" Tell me, are you happy with what's happening? " Elden said.

Lance looked at Elden as he remembered why he was a captain.

He was a kid that showed immense promise when he started out. He decided to become a magic knight to earn money for his mother.

She was sick and couldn't get medication. He worked his ass off to earn the money but it wasn't enough as the condition worsened each day.

He was desperate and wanted to take more missions but his mother was on deaths doorstep.

In that state of vulnerability, he ended up making a deal with a royal who payed for his mother's medication.

He was happy as his mother was alright but in exchange he owe the royal. He thought he would have to do one thing which is what he agreed to, but what he did was something that tore him on the inside.

He was forced to kill some people who were threatening the royal who saved his mother. He did without hesitation but it was to late.

The royal in question just used him to kill a man who's wife was raped and then murdered by the royal.

He then rushed back to the royal. He was angry and vengeful but in the end he couldn't do anything.

The royal used his mother as a hostage and because she got better and got a job he meet more people who ended caring for.

In order to protect them he kept following orders all his trying to find a way out but couldn't.

" It feels terrible. I can't do anything. " Lance said with a defeated tone.

" Then join me. " Elden said as Lance looked at him with widened eyes. Elden stretched his hand out and said...

" And we will take back the kingdom. "

Lance was speechless as he looked at Elden. He knew what Eldne ment. A revolution.He wished to remove the king from power along with the royals.

" How can you be so sure? How will you know that this will work? " Lance asked. The desperation could be heard in his voice.

" Simple. I'll just kill them. After all they are weak. " Elden said with a smile.

" Weak? " Lance asked in disbelief.

" Well yeah. After all, if you take away their political power and just get into a death fight with them then they would lose easily.They arnt special. Killing them is easy. Besides all the citizens hate them as well.

I intent to take over. Tell me will you join me? "

" What will you do after taking down the king and the royals? " Lance asked.

" Become king myself and change things. " Elden said.

Lance went silent as he stared at Elden. He felt envy towards him for how he can act towards royals. He didn't care and just acted.

' Should I take it? But if it works will be different? ' Lance questioned as he looked at Elden.

Elden sat patentiantly as he watched Lance come to a decision. He knew Lance had worries as he didn't want to repeat history.

Before long Lance finally spoke up.

" Alright I agree. " Lance said as Elden smiled widely.

" Welcome to the team. " Elden said as he reached his hand out to Lance. Lance shook his hand.

" Oh and as for your fears don't worry. " Elden said before teleporting away.
