Diabolical Boulevard

Book Lords, grimoires, Profound Beasts, Armageddons, and Abominations—I found myself in a world where the strong devour the weak, and the weak gather to resist the might of the strong, 500 years before a story I used to watch, six years before I got shot in the head. As a half-vampire fated to hold the title of being the only Book Lord with F-grade talent, even he, Gu Mickey, who had watched the epilogue, did not know the power hidden in the so-called rubbish among junk talents. The legend of a maple leaf who rose from a stepping stone to...

Mo Bing’s Death

When she was young, Kang Yimo always dreamed of being a Book Lord one day and protecting Acoustic City from the beast tides.

She was a child born from mortal blood and knew that the chances of becoming a Book Lord were extremely low... but she still had hope.

Some say hope is stronger than faith.

However... that hope was crushed on her 18th birthday, at the Spring Golden Rain festival.

She saw lucky individuals being shrouded by shimmering golden lights while she was getting soaked by the rain.

Kang Yimo fell into despair.

She didn't know what to do with her life after failing to become a Book Lord.

She did not believe a mortal could do anything, and when her mother was murdered, the feeling got worse.

"If I were a Book Lord, this wouldn't have happened!"

"Nobody would have mistreated my mother."

"Who should I cry to now? Father is always busy with his police job and never comes home."

It wasn't until her father brought her mother's killer to justice that she started having a change of heart.

Her father became her hero. No! Her hope!

However, good things last like a cup of wine.

Her father was shot while doing an investigation on a leading suspect in a murder crime.

"Father, I swear upon heaven and earth to bring justice to the person who did this to you!"

Kang Yimo made an oath in her heart and joined up with the central intelligence division.

After two years of hard work, she caught the scumbag who had ended her father's life and made sure he spent the rest of his life in prison.

Three years down the line, Kang Yimo got promoted to a team leader position when she met the womanizing Min Yize.

He wasn't that attractive; he was short and slightly fat. His brown eyes were round and big, unfitting for his rectangular face. His hair was the common brown.

The thing is, Min Yize is good with words. At some point, she had also fallen for him.

She immediately realized who she was dealing with and cut it off.

Despite being a mortal, Min Yize went out with more than seven female Book Lords!

Yet, such a person who went out with such people had just gotten rejected.

He wanted to salvage the situation and hit it off with Lang Yi, but he got slapped in the process.

Kang Yimo found joy in this and couldn't hold her laughter as she looked at the man next to her.

Min Yize applied ice to his sore cheek with a contorted face.

"That's so unprofessional. You should be comforting, as my boss."

Kang Yimo shrugged him off; she didn't want to deal with the nonsense. Red marks could be detected from her eye which was stuck to the binoculars.

She was in a double cab pickup truck waiting for the kidnapper to snatch the ransom money from one of the benches at Citric Park.

Some of the agents were mixed in with the masses, doing their best to blend in. Every suspicious individual was in their range.

"It's been fifteen minutes, why hasn't he shown up?" Kang Yimo muttered as her brows knotted into a frown.

At the other two drop points, the police agents were there, but there was still no sign of the kidnapper appearing.

Even Chi Di, who was using drones to look at the surrounding areas, had a bad feeling about this.

"Boss, stay alert. I am sure he is looking for the time we slack off and steal the ransom. Even though I put trackers in the money bags, chances are he will get rid of it before we get to him."

Chi Di's voice rang in Kang Yimo's ears, and she quickly nodded. The kidnapper had caused the death of her teammates, and she wasn't going to sleep until justice was brought down upon him.

Mickey had attempted to snatch the money bags, but the security was just too tight; even rats couldn't get past the police defenses.

Now he looked at Mo Bing.

This man had bullied him before.

This was his way of exacting revenge. As the old saying goes, "A single slap today will be repaid with a thousand slaps tomorrow."

Mickey walked up to him and untied him, before giving a command, "You can go."

Joy immediately flashed in the bald head's eyes as he started dragging himself on the ground like a snake.

'My mom will definitely find a Book Lord to bring me back to normal!"

Well... all hope was not lost.

However...he didn't see the devilish smile coming from the man holding a drill behind him - it was only so, because he had a mask.

Mickey drilled into the back of his neck, and blood erupted in a gruesome display, splattering the floor with vibrant red streaks.

Plop.

He was dead!

Mickey's expression turned indifferent as his gaze wandered to the woman sleeping on the bed to his left.

He had put tomato sauce on her neck to fool Mo Bing into thinking he had killed her. Normally, something like that wouldn't work, but Mo Bing was already startled by Mickey and had painted the image of Mickey as a monster in his mind.

Mickey had knocked her out when she was coming from work and drugged her to stay asleep.

Her name is Mi Shi. Her father used to work for Mo Xie but was used as a scapegoat for one of her crimes and ended up going to prison.

Mickey didn't have time to research what deal it was due to the little time he had.

Unlike what Mo Xie had promised, she didn't bring Mi Shi's father out of prison, and worse, she didn't even look after his family.

She had the reason and the motive to make Mo Xie suffer.

With a scapegoat at hand, Mickey had to act swiftly.

He chopped the goat into parts: the head, the body, and the legs and arms.

Mickey meticulously packaged the dismembered pet goat, placing each of the three body parts into the cooler boxes he had stolen earlier.

He then scrubbed the room clean, erasing any evidence of his presence. To further avoid suspicion, Mickey strategically left behind some of Mo Bing's DNA samples.

He cleaned up the sauce he had put on Mi Shi and made sure no traces of him entering the room were left before heading out with the cooler boxes.

"Now to collect the spirit coins."
