29. High-Class?

[A/N: *Sigh* It's so difficult to increase popularity. The views increase very slowly and I am kind of depressed cuz of that 😢 😩. Well whatever, it's currently at 126 stones. if I get more 100 stones within 24 hours, I will release 1 bonus chapter. I know others do a chapter at 1k or 500 stones but for my fic... I know even a 100 stones is impossible. But *if somehow* it does increase, I will release a bonus chapter.

"Children of the Underworld! I hope every one of you is prepared for this event. Because this event will not only test your raw strength but every demonic aspect a devil has. This tournament is organized to see how strong you are, not only physically but mentally as well. Strength, techniques, and willpower will be the key factors that will decide the victor. Even if you don't win, there is no reason for you all to lose hope. There is always enough time for improvement."

["Everyone go to your designated positions."]

The devils did as they were told and took position next to the pillars which had their family crests on them.

I did the same as well.

["The first event would be demonic power measurement."]

Devils can get a rough estimate of the power levels of other devils with a single glance. But this method is not perfect. It only gives a rough estimate so sometimes a devil might seem stronger than the other, while in reality they aren't.

The power level of devils are divided into Low-Class, Mid-Class, High-Class, Ultimate-Class, Satan-Class and Super-Class. With only three 'known' Super-Class devils till date. 

These classes are further divided into Lower, Middle, High and Peak Grades. 

Most beings who are not devils confuse 'Class' with 'Rank.' Devils born in a pillar which is ranked higher than the other doesn't automatically make the devil 'High-Class' in terms of strength. It means that they are 'High-Class' in terms of political rank.

But using Rank for strength and Class for the political standing is not exactly wrong either. It all depends on the sentence. 

["Place one of your hands on top of the orb attached to the device then slowly start channeling demonic power. The slate that is on top of the device will change color according to your power level. If your demonic power is below Lower Grade Mid-Class, you will be disqualified. Now everyone come forward one by one!"]

I am a hundred percent sure that this device was made by Ajuka. I saw this in his lab when I went to fetch my Evil Pieces.

I am more interested in the duel rounds than the measurement ones.

But for now, I need to complete this level to move onto the next. But first, let's see how the others do.

The first one to go was Eneely Vassago. 

She had quite the fan following as the moment she went towards the device, the crowd started going nuts for her.

As explained, she extended her hand on the orb and started channeling demonic power. 

This caused the color of the slate to change from grey to a sky blue shade. 

["Middle Grade Mid-Class. Eneely Vassago moves onto the next phase!"]

The announcement made most of her 'fans' cheer madly for her.

Middle Grade Mid-class is not bad, but it is not that great either. *Sigh* Let's see how the rest of the devils do.

Next to go was Sona Sitri which got an even bigger reaction from the crowd… especially from her sister. 

But to me, she was a disappointment. Unlike her sister's monstrous reserves, hers were barely at Middle Grade Mid-Class. 

The next heiress was a little less disappointing. 

Rias Gremory had High Grade Mid-Class reserves, which was kind of impressive but nowhere near enough to impress me. 

Now my demonic power reserves are not that high either, but chakra makes up for the lack of my demonic power. While these heirs and heiresses have nothing other than their bloodline abilities to back them up.

Or maybe I am being a little harsh. Maybe I shouldn't compare them to their older siblings.

*Sigh* Well, whatever.

Next was Diodora who was at the same level as the Sitri heiress.

Then there came Zephyrdor, whose demonic power was at High Grade Mid-Class.

After his results were out, he looked towards me and smirked, which I returned with a grin of my own.

Now, it was the turn of the two devils who I found the most interesting.

["That was a very impressive performance by Zephyrdor Glasya-Labolas. He is currently the top scorer, with Rias Gremory coming to a close second. Now ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the Bael heir candidate, Sairaorg Bael!"]

Bael? This boy is a Bael? Then why are his reserves so low?

The boy in question nervously walked towards the device and placed his hand over it.

To my disappointment but his relief, the slate turned to a very light shade of blue.

That was pathetic for someone from the Bael pillar. And the crowd seemed to think the same as there was no clapping or booing. 

His performance was not worth clapping but neither could they insult a member of the Bael pillar.

["W-Well that was a decent p-performance. Sairaorg Bael moves onto the next round!]

Sairaorg released a sigh of relief before walking towards the devils who moved onto the next stage as well.

["Next we have the Bael heiress candidate! Please welcome, Esmeralda Bael!"]

So she is the second Bael candidate. Her reserves overall seem to be quite high.

Looking at the black-haired girl walking towards the device made me grow a smile. 

'Don't disappoint me, miss Bael.'

The beautiful black haired girl elegantly walked towards the machine and placed her hand over it.

The moment she did that, the slate changed into the deepest shade of blue one could imagine. The shade was so deep that it almost made my eyes hurt a little.

The crowd went silent for a few moments before everyone started shouting in awe. 

["Peak Mid-Class! It's the highest measurement until now! Esmeralda Bael takes the top spot from Zephyrdor Glasya-Labolas!"]

Zephyrdor didn't seem very happy and neither did Esmeralda… was she expecting it to be higher? 

"Interesting."

The crowd didn't stop applauding for quite a long time. The heiress candidate of Bael did manage to impress me, so she does deserve the praise.

But the ones after that doesn't.

Out of dozens of devils, only 18 moved onto the next round. There were only 5 more devils left whose powers were yet to be measured. Two of them were nameless Low-Class devils while the other three were me, Clara and Seekvaira.

And just as I expected the two devils didn't make it.

Next to go was Clara who's reserves were at Middle Grade Mid-Class, then there was Seekvaira who was the same level as Rias Gremory. 

["The last participant is from the Seere pillar. Please welcome, the heir of Seere, Shisui Seere!"]

Finally my turn huh?

[3rd person PoV]

[Tournament Committee]

"I am quite jealous of you, Lord Bael. Your daughter is indeed a natural genius." Zoeticus said to the Lord to Bael pillar.

"Haha, Lord Gremory! She indeed is my treasure. But your daughter did impressive as well! High Grade Mid-Class at such a young age is very impressive" Lord Bael said with a full-blown smile on his face.

None of them mentioned Sairaorg as they knew how much Lord of the Bael pillar 'hated' his son. 

"*Sigh* This is going to be a tough competition." Said the Lord of the Sitri pillar.

The committee members consisted of the four Devil Kings with Mephisto Pheles, Zekram Bael, Elias Bael, Kayn Agares, Zoeticus Gremory, and Niklaus Sitri.

Zoeticus and Niklaus got a seat within the committee as their children were the current Devil Kings.

"Your daughter already won this round. A peak Mid-Class devil at such a young age. There is no way anyone can top that. Her talent is only lower to the Devil Kings."  Said Mephisto.

Kayn Agares didn't say anything and instead decided to stay silent.

"Haha, Lord Mephisto. You overprai-"

["Lower Grade High Class! Shisui Seere has secured the top rank with Lower Grade High Class!"]

Silence, ghastly silence. The laughter within the committee room stopped instantly when Shisui's name was announced. 

Most of the devils within the room looked at each other before-

"Bwahahaaha, he did it! He actually did it!" Zekram burst out laughing. "That little devil!"

"Lord Zekram?" Niklaus was shocked, shocked at the sudden outburst of the Great King as well as at the announcement.

"This has to be some technical error!" Elias walked towards the giant window before looking down. 

The device was glowing a light yet bright shade of red, with a bored-looking devil kid standing next to it.

"This has to be some sort of error."

"It isn't." Ajuka instantly rejected the claim. "I personally designed the device and tested it over a hundred times."

"There is no way a member of an extinct pillar can have such a strong heir!" Elias was in complete denial.

"Elias." Zekram stopped laughing and his facial features hardened. "You might have forgotten whose grandson he is."

This made Elias shut up. Silas Seere was a name that most of the newer generation children didn't know. While for the older devil… it was a highly respected name.

"Lord Zekram, your laughter earlier tells us that you already knew about his powers or at least had a rough idea of what he is capable of. Yet you didn't inform any of us?" Sirzechs seemed quite displeased and Serafall agreed with him.

"Sirzechs. You had met him on quite a few occasions, yet you never noticed his powers. And the same can be said for you Serafall. For you, such power is not worth mentioning but if it were your sisters who had that level of strength. It would have been known throughout the underworld." Zekram's expression turned grave "Just like father turned a blind eye all those years ago." He mumbled but it went completely unheard.

All the devils had various expressions on their face while Kayn was still lost in his thoughts.

'Shisui Seere' Kayn looked towards the boy with a grin on his face. 'You might just be the cure to my boredom.'

[PoV Shisui]

I could have gone a little bit higher but this has to do for now. I don't want to cause an even bigger commotion.

But I do wonder.
