25. Anime is not Cartoon!
"So… you fought against the Heir candidate of 'Glasya-Labolas' and won."
"Hn."
"Not only did you win against him but you had him run around the school campus, naked?"
"Hn."
"Then you had him apologize to you and the girl from the Gaap pillar?"
"Hn."
Mother looked at me with complex emotions, while my father was standing near the doorway with a massive grin plastered on his face.
"Look Shisui, I know he insulted our pillar but you cannot pick a fight with high-ranked pillars so casually." She was right to worry about it, but there is no way I will let anyone harm my pillar.
"Selene." Father finally decided to speak. "It's alright."
"But-" She stopped as she saw my father's gentle smile.
"I said that's enough." He walked closer towards us. "Shisui." He called my name.
"I am proud of you." He said surprising me a bit. "Fighting for the honor of our pillar was a respectable move. And I thank you for saving our pride."
"I will never let anyone insult our pillar, father." I said the truth. I am never letting anyone insult my pillar… 'Never.'
"What if they retaliate?" Mother asked worriedly.
"Don't worry… I will handle them." He said while not letting his kind smile falter.
I might be apathetic towards most people… But I can never let the people who gave me my current life and took care of me for all these years go through any harm. My parents and Layla are the only people that I care about. And if someone even puts a scratch on them… 'I will erase them!'
I nodded at my father's words.
"Now enough talking about some pillar brat. When are you going to the party? And when are you picking up this 'Gaap' girl?" This made my mother as well as Layla, who was standing behind her, to narrow their eyebrows.
"Honey…" She said with… quite the creepy smile.
"What? I don't see a reason for him to not go with her? Besides, he did play the 'knight' role for the princess."
"You do know that I did all that just for our pillar… and she was just an additional character." I have no interest in her. After all, I am 29 despite having the body of a 10-year-old. I am not interested in little girls.
"Gahaha! I was joking. But on a serious note, when are you going? Because I don't want you to be late for the birthday of the Devil King's son." He said, suddenly turning serious, mid-speech.
"I will leave at 7 in the evening." I said and he nodded.
"Hum… Make sure to greet the Lord and Lady Gremory as well. They are good people." My mother said.
"Good people? More like bloody exhibitionists." Mumbled my father.
"What's with that weird look? You know it's the truth!" He exclaimed. "Do you remember when that accursed Zoeticus walked into our house naked? It scared poor little Layla, who was only 7 years old back then."
Mother didn't say but instead sighed.
"And do not even get me started on Sirzechs… That kid is the bloody Devil King for Satan's sake! But he walks around his home naked. Remember when they called us for a discussion about the 'Raileen' property? He forgot to wear clothes even in the meeting. Poor Ajuka had to apologize to all those present in the meeting!" Father finished his speech huffing in the end.
"That… doesn't mean that the next generation will be similar. I heard that Zoeticus's daughter basically acts like a princess, so there is no way that a person like that would casually go naked… right?"
You don't sound very confident, mother…
As for father, he just kept looking at her. "*Sigh* At least I hope so. I hope Zoeticus's daughter and grandson don't turn out to be a nudist like him and his son."
Some might think that devils don't have any shame. But that's completely false. We devils try not to do anything that can harm our reputation. And walking in the nude… is something that is definitely frowned upon.
How did the Gremorys get away with it? Ah, yes. Their son is the strongest Devil King.
Which again proves that as long as you have power… no one can go against you.
"*Sigh* That's enough, you can go now. Both me and your mother will be leaving in an hour." He said as he ruffled my hair. "Remember one thing Shisui. We are the devils of the 'Seere Pillar.' We don't bow down before anyone, not even the kings. Your grandfather never bowed down in front of his father, Lucifer. So if anyone insults you, show him what we 'Seere' are made of. I will deal with the political issues myself, we might be politically weak. But I have my ways to ensure our survival." He ruffled my hair once again and said. "You may leave."
I nodded while Layla bowed as both of us teleported away.
[3rd person PoV]
"He has grown up." Selene said with a small smile on her face.
"Indeed. And if his growth continues like this… His Caim bloodline will wake up soon, and that's when things will start getting hectic." Solas said, putting his head on his wife's lap.
"I am worried." Selene said as she slowly dragged her fingers around Solas's face. "I am worried that those old Council devils will plan something once he awakens it."
"Do not worry. If they try to even look towards our son… I will gouge their eyes out." Solas said as he put his hand over his wife's cheek. "You, Shisui, and Layla are my most precious treasure. And if someone dares harm any of you, I will throw them into the Dimensional Gap."
Selene looked into her husband's eyes, as a massive smile bloomed into her face. "I know honey, I know." She said as she kissed her husband on the lips.
[Shisui's PoV]
If those old coots try anything funny… I will give them a fate worse than being thrown into the Dimensional Gap.
"Shisui?" Layla called my name.
"Hum?" I looked towards her.
"So this Clara girl…" For the love of… Not again!
"She is the girl I met in school, who gave me a tour around it and also got dragged into all this honor duel drama." I summarised as simply as I could.
"So you are not interested in her?" She said looking straight into my eyes.
What gave the impression? I fought against 'Zephyrdor' because he insulted my pillar and I didn't like his attitude. To me, Clara is nothing more than a side-character who I might forget about in a month.
Now she is pretty cute, but almost all devils got good looks. There is nothing special about her… other than her presence erasure skill, which I need to investigate.
There is no reason for me to go after her… Her pillar is a fallen one, she isn't rich, doesn't have much political power or anything that can interest me. There is no point in marrying a girl who won't help me to increase my pillar's status.
"No, I am not. She is nothing more than an acquaintance."
When I said that Layla looked relieved… I am not sure why? More specifically I don't want to know… yet.
"Did you decide on what you are going to wear?" I asked which made Layla grow her usual angelic smile.
"Yes, I did. Your mother helped me pick up a beautiful red dress."
I have rarely seen her wear anything other than her maid outfit, so if she wears that dress it will be a new experience even for me.
"We should probably get dressed. We don't have that much time left."

Huh? Wait… what?
"Layla… what was that?" I ask which made her a bit confused.
"Eh?" Well… she is sort of an airhead.
"I meant the sound… that you made. The 'umu' sound." I explained.
"Oh, it was from an anime which is quite popular in the human world."
Anime? What's that?
"Huh? What is anime?" I was quite curious about this 'anime' thing.
"Well… erm... Anime are animations made by the humans. It is similar to the cartoons but ten times better!" She said with pure enthusiasm.
"So… Anime is a cartoon?" Now… this was a mistake.
"NO!" Layla screamed… for the first time in my life, I saw her scream.
"Never. Compare. Anime. With. Cartoons. Young. Master!" O-okay… Now, this is kind of terrifying… What just happened to her?
"O-okay."
"They are made by humans from a specific part of the world called 'Japan.' They are very well made and always have a good story. But young master… Never compare Anime to Cartoons!" She warned me.
"*Sigh* Very well, I won't. But get ready now, or we will be late."
