Devil's Luck[Arc 5: Worlds Apart]

Zenkichi Hitoyoshi is a young man, destined to be chained by fate in the early story of canon. He was a man without ambition, drive, will and talent to become something great. Well, that'll soon change. For better, or for worse. .... AN: Alright, let's do this one last time. Here's another Medaka Box fanfic that I hope it'll get to a hundred chapters before I drop it, or not? It depends on life really. And positive comments and reviews, I don't really care much of power stones(tho, that doesn't mean you can't...) but positive feedback on my work really inspires me more to write. Want to check out my pa-treon and be ahead of your fellow WN kin? Well here's the link: pa–treon.com/FroztDouluo *Just get rid of the dash. Edit: I just couldn't find any good art for the cover.... Is this fine? Schedule and the amount of chapters I'd be popping out? Tuesday and Thursday(UTC +8), 2–3 chapters a week(it's usually just 2 chapters because I'm slow at making anime related stories).

Chapter 90: Sisters

Naze could confidently say that she went through a lot, despite being 17 and a somewhat normal human being.

From voluntarily erasing her memories, becoming homeless, somehow getting a best friend, accepted a job from a shady organization, went through the apocalypse and then find out that guy she was interested is some kind of Demon King with God-like powers.

But she would rather go through all that again than... this.

"Kuji-nee..." Medaka whined, laying upsidedown on a sofa, on Koga's sofa to be precise.

"No. And stop calling me that!"

For some reason beyond Naze, Medaka decided to come along with her with the intention of hanging out and persuading her to come visit their family. Though she sounded reluctant and stiff when mentioning their older brother, which wasn't strange when she recalled in the data banks about Maguro Kurokami.

Is she crazy? Stupid even? Naze had erased her childhood memories and cut off all her past for the sake of living a hellish life, full of misery and despair.

But... after that whole incident in the previous timeline and realizing that she actually treasures the ones she loved... she felt conflicted.

So she just let Medaka into their safehouse, which was located in a small building, big in the inside schtick, stuck in between a five star hotel and a car dealership.

'I'm beginning to regret letting you in here...' Naze's left brow twitched as she heard Medaka calling her previous name again.

"Naze-chan, be nice to your sister." Koga chided her friend as she entered the living room, a tray with three cups of steaming apple tea in her hands. "Kurokami-san, here."

"Please, call me Medaka." Medaka smiled, sitting up and accepting the cup of tea from Koga. "Thank you, Koga-san."

Naze clicked her tongue as Koga put down her tea by her desk, unceremoniously taking a sip of it, she ignored her... sister and went back on the experiment she was doing that was connected to a certain someone.

...

*Achoo!*

"Ugh, am I getting a cold? Is that even possible anymore?" Zenkichi muttered to himself. He turned to talk to Brunhilde some more but he was surprised to find her gone.

"Huh? Brunhilde–"

"Don't come any closer!" Brunhilde yelled out from the corner, wearing a mask and a spray bottle in hand.

"Brunhilde–"

"Hiiiieeee!!"

Unbeknownst to Zenkichi, although it isn't common and is extremely rare, but God-like beings do get sick sometimes. But when they do, it isn't as simple as humans would have. It would be akin to an epidemic with a 90% mortality rate to any creature infected.

....

"So did you find anything in Zenkichi's blood?" Medaka leaned beside Naze, curiosity in her eyes as she stared at the vials of red blood on Naze's desk and the numerous test tubes scattered across.

Naze grumbled from the close proximity, but gave up from shooing her off as she'd keep pestering her. "Aside from his red and white blood cells being incredibly healthy and normal, there doesn't seem to be anything that tells us that he isn't human," Naze replied, her brows furrowing in frustration. "I've never met any other demon or gods obviously but, his blood should at the very least tells us what makes us and them different."

"Demons and Gods..." Medaka sighed. "And here I thought our life wasn't already ridiculous but Zenkichi always surprises me. Though Hitoyoshi-sensei surprises me more, to think she had actually had laid with... Satan? I want to say I'm surprised but..."

"Hitoyoshi-sensei? Ah, Hitomi Hitoyoshi, Zenkichi's mother. I'm more surprised that such a union actually gave birth to a somewhat normal kid. I'm not an expert in demonology, never believed in a God, but aren't Demons usually packing big? I've seen Hitomi Hitoyoshi's picture before and... I don't think she could even take a normal-sized one."

"Hitoyoshi-sensei is an incredible person." Medaka smiled and took a sip of her tea.

Naze's eye twitched. "That doesn't answer anything."

"Well, she was a former psychosomatic doctor."

"That just someone who treats patients with mentality and psyche! How does that–"

"Hey, Medaka-chan. You've known Zenkichi since you were young, right?" Koga interjected, her eyes lighting up in excitement.

"Hm? Ah, yeah. We've met when we were around two years old, coincidentally, in Hitoyoshi-sensei former workplace..." The two girls excitedly started talking animatedly about Medaka's childhood memories with Zenkichi.

Naze shook her head and went back to her investigation, though she subtly eavesdropped on them.

"Eh? So you guys fell off in middle school?" Koga gasped, surprised.

Medaka scratched her cheek, slightly embarrassed. "Um, sorta? A lot of stuff happened back in middle school, involving Kumagawa, and... we decided to do our own thing for a while."

"Oh totes understand. I and a few friends in the past were like that." Koga waved understandably.

Medaka nodded, twirling a strand of her hair. "I mean, I wanted to stay and play with Zenkichi just as always. But for some odd reason he just, started acting strange."

"Oh?" Naze turned away from her desk, raising an eyebrow at Medaka. "Strange, how, exactly?"

Medaka tilted her head around, explaining. "Oh, when I try to hug him or change my clothes in his room he just starts blushing and stammering. And when I try to kiss him, he'd just start bleeding out from his nose for some odd reason even though he didn't hurt it. There was also that time when he was taking a bath and I–"

"Medaka," Naze cut her off, pinching the bridge of her nose while Koga by the side was blushing as a tomato and breathing heavily. "stop talking. For fucks sake, are you really this airheaded? Or did no one tell you about the birds and the bees?"

"Sex? Hmph. Of course I know about sex!" Medaka snorted, crossing her arms under her large chest, made more pronounced as she didn't wear any bra under her white shirt.

As they were indoors and by themselves, they were all dressed in skimpy, casual clothing. With Medaka wearing a white shirt and tight, hot black shorts, Koga with a pink tank top and white panties, while Koga... only wore blue panties with purple polkadots.

"... I'll explain this shit to you later on." Naze inwardly cursed. She doesn't know why, but she was feeling a strange sense of responsibility towards her... little sister.

Medaka tilted her head in confusion at her older sister and shrugged. "Okay, sure. But, I want to persuade you further to meeting dad and mother Nashi..."

"Again, hell no."

"I understand that. So I want to talk about something else, I need your help."

Naze raised an eyebrow, "With what?"

"With Zenkichi." Medaka said, calmly sipping her tea.

"As expected," Naze slowly nodded, letting out a sigh. "what do you need my help with?"

"Training, to unlock my body's full potential."

"Why come to me though? As I recall, Maguro Kurokami is an expert trainer with his Abnormality: Analysis." Nazi spread her hands out, shrugging. "As you can see, I'm just a simple chemist that can't even find any abnormalities in someone's blood."

"Which I can see frustrates you," Medaka muttered, nodding.

"...Huh?" Naze twitched, a vein popping on her forehead.

'This little bitch!' Just as she was about to stand up, Medaka continued.

"You're right, Kuji-nee. As much as I hate to go to.... Maguro-nii for help, he is certainly the better choice when it comes to training and unlocking my potential." Medaka's eyes turned flat. "But I rather come to you first and anyone else before him for help."

'Geez. To make Medaka dislike him this much, just what kind of a man is their older brother?' Koga thought in surprise.

Naze didn't remember any of her family and yet, deep inside of her heart, she couldn't help but nod in understanding to Medaka's words.

Medaka smiled and said, "And don't think I haven't realized what Koga-san is."

Both girls were surprised, and Naze asked with a whistle. "How did you figure it out?"

"You just confirmed it." Medaka smirked at their expressions. "I wasn't 100% certain, only that she had a lack of bones popping and cracking when she moves. She moves too smooth, perfect even. She's almost like she isn't human."

Naze snorted. "Alright, alright. Stop showing off, we get it already. So I can make cyborgs, do you want to become a cyborg as well?"

"As cool as that sounds..."

"It really is." Koga grinned, raising up a peace sign.

"But if you can make someone into a cyborg, means that you have an intensive experience and knowledge of a human body. You could potentially help me unlock my body's full potential and enhance my physical capabilities even further." Medaka leaned forward, her eyes shining with determination. "I want to be able to protect everyone and fight alongside Zenkichi on equal footing. I want to be stronger, faster, and more resilient. And I believe you can help me achieve that."

Naze glanced at Koga, who looked both nervous and excited at the prospect. She sighed and ran a hand through her hair, contemplating Medaka's request. While she wasn't particularly fond of Medaka or her family, there was something about her determination and sincerity that resonated with Naze.

"Alright," Naze finally conceded, a small smile forming on her lips. "I'll help you. But don't expect it to be painless."

"I wasn't expecting it to be."

Naze grinned, "You better not swallow those words later on."
