63 Chapter 63: Odin

"Who are you?" The god asked once more with an authoritative tone of voice, he was a man of few words, and he somehow doubled the feeling of fear and power he was stirring up in Zenkichi and Brunhilde.

It wasn't like anything Zenkichi had faced before in his life. Medaka, Takachiho, Gun, etc. Compared to them and this Being, it was no comparison.

Zenkichi and them are all mere ants before a God's presence.

'So this is what's like standing up before a God,' Zenkichi gulped, his heart pounding in his chest. He knew he had to find the right words, to somehow explain the situation without inciting the wrath of Odin, yet.

He was confident he could take on a God, especially the ones in this universe, but his special identity as an outsider might incite the interest of a myriad of Gods and he needed to complete his quest to return home and undo the Tragedy.

But as he was hesitating to speak, someone–something else spoke up first.

"Caw! That's right! Tell us who this guy is, Brunhilde, you bitch. Just how many more problems are you giving us? Is losing the entire Norse mythology face not enough for you?! Huh?! Caw!" The black feathered crow perched on Odin's left shoulder cawed, spreading its wings apart mockingly at Brunhilde.

The white crow pecked on its wing and stared straight at Brunhilde. "Becoming a traitor and starting Ragnarok was bad enough, but to actually head towards another Pantheon to learn Völundr, teach it to your sisters, and give humanity a fighting chance."

"You little cunt, did you forget what we are?" The black feathered crow, Huginn, fiercely flapped its wings. "We're the fucking Norse Pantheon! We are known for many things, but being magnanimous or benevolent is not one of them."

The white crow, Muninn, narrowed its eyes. "You know...I've been suspicious of you for so long. You...you're not thinking of busting that little boyfriend of yours–"

Muninn immediately closed its beak, the reason was simple.

Brunhilde had sent a sharp needle flying past it and Odin immediately began emitting a palpable dark and ominous aura. The surroundings around him began to rot and decay. The marble floors, golden pillars, a small garden by the side — everything distorted and rotted away into an ugly scenery.

It was as if death itself had taken hold of the area.

"Daughter..." There was a dangerous edge to Odin's voice as he addressed Brunhilde.

"I'm not your daughter!" Brunhilde gritted her teeth.

But as the two began to assert their Godly presence onto the other, Brunhilde on the clear disadvantage, someone began to exert his own.

"Both of you," A pair of blue energy wings appeared on Zenkichi's back, a blue crown-like halo began to form above his head, his eyes glowing red with Divine Reflection activated. He stepped forward, facing Odin with determination and a newfound confidence.

"Zenkichi?" Brunhilde was wide eyed.

Zenkichi smiled reassuringly at her, "It's fine, Brunhilde."

Odin narrowed his eyes. "You..."

"You wanna know who I am, Odin? Why ask her? I'm right fucking here," Zenkichi declared, his voice steady and unwavering. "I am Zenkichi Hitoyoshi, a Einherjar. I'm one of the guys that's going to whoop your Godly asses off your high horses."

"Is that so?" Odin's voice got deeper all of a sudden, taking a step forward as he looked over Zenkichi and stared him straight at his eyes with his one dark and yellow eye. A palpable feeling of getting sucked in, similar to a black hole when staring at his eye.

"Oh, I know so," However Zenkichi didn't back down, even taking a step forward and meeting Odin's gaze head-on. His determination and courage radiated from him.

"I may not have the power of a god, but I have something more important," Zenkichi continued, his voice unwavering. "I have the strength of my convictions, the will to protect those I care about, and the belief that humanity deserves a fighting chance. I will not stand by and watch as you bastard God destroy everything we hold dear."

'In this world at least,' He inwardly thought.

Odin's eyes narrowed further, his gaze intense and piercing. "You speak boldly, mortal. But do you truly believe that you can stand against the might of the Gods?"

"I. Do." Zenkichi confidently responded, no hesitation. He came to this world for a miracle, knowing full well that he would fight a God, and he will not falter in his choice.

"Heh," Odin let out a low, amused chuckle before bursting into a fit of uncontrollable laughter. "Haha. HAHAHAHAHA! Amusing, truly amusing! How long has it been since I felt this amused, excited, angered?! Too long!"

"Brunhilde," Odin turned towards Brunhilde, a disgusting wide smile spread across his wrinkled old face that made the latter shiver in disgust and bewilderment. "oh, my daughter. My dear Brunhilde. You've done a good job thus far. Very well, I shall help conceal this matter from the other Gods. Even from that old lightning pervert."

"Eh, L-Lord Odin?"

"Lord Odin, what are you–quack!"

"Can't you tell?" Odin grabbed Munnin by its neck, the poor crow was stared at intently and felt a surge of terror. "I'm happy! I was getting so bored..."

Unexpectedly, he cracked the crow's neck, killing it instantly. The life in its eyes dimmed and it slumped in Odin's hand, who then gently held it.

"M-Munnin!" Huginn squawked in horror.

"Oh shut up, this guy had been unknowingly feeding information to other Pantheons. Since I've given my word, I will honor my word. Stop shivering already, you're fine."

Huginn flinched and weakly nodded.

Odin snorted and looked at the dead Munnin, "Looks like I've been idle for far too long if even you forgot who I am. Arise, my servant."

With a wave of his other hand, Odin breathed life back into Muninn, and the crow's eyes regained their light. Muninn's body twitched before it stood up and flew back to Odin's shoulder, perching there once again.

"Lord Odin... I... I don't understand," Brunhilde stammered, her voice filled with both confusion and fear.

Odin chuckled, his eyes shifting from Brunhilde to Zenkichi. "My dear Brunhilde, you've always been too predictable. You see, you and your sisters are mere pawns in my grand game. You might hide your emotions to most people, but you can never hide it from me. I have always been prepared for your inevitable rebellion."

"Brunhilde, you who have only been alive since the dawn of humanity, might only slightly understand how it feels for us old gods. Us who have been alive since the time of creation and war." The old God let out a long and dreary sigh.

"I thought the best for our people. After conquering the nine realms and other cosmologies, I began to see the bigger picture and the....numerous threats to our existence. So I decidedly retreated back to Asgard and honestly rule over my people for thousands of years."

"But," Odin's eye turned bloodshot, he grounded his teeth. "It was so fucking booooriiiing! Every single day, sitting on my throne, listening to the grievances of my people, making decisions, and maintaining order. It became monotonous, repetitive, and utterly dull. I longed for excitement, for chaos, for something to finally challenge my power."

"That's when I and Heimdall stumbled upon the concept of Ragnarok. The end of all things. The ultimate battle that would bring destruction, renewal, and a chance for me to unleash my true power. I knew that for Ragnarok to occur, I needed a catalyst, someone to spark the flames of conflict, and who better than my own daughter, Brunhilde?"

"You... you planned this all along?" Brunhilde's voice trembled with disbelief.

"Oh yes, I have waited a long, long time...in preparation for this battle. Though I have to be honest, I never expected Ragnarok to be a simple tournament." He chuckled and turned around, "Well, it's good enough. Humans, heh. My blood is boiling after many millennia. I will permit no one to disrupt it, so,"

Odin's face made a sudden change to cold indifference as he waved his hand in a grabbing motion.

"Ahahaha, I've been found~" A new voice filled the air, and a figure emerged from the shadows. It was a man with green hair and hair highlight to the left of his face, piercing purple eyes and slanted pupils like a goat, dressed in a cloak with long sleeves detached from its base. He also wears fingerless gloves and an array of stud ear piercings on each of his ears. His presence exuded an air of mystery and power.

Zenkichi and Brunhilde looked at the newcomer in surprise. "Who are you?" Zenkichi asked, his voice filled with caution.

The man smirked, his eyes glinting with amusement. "Ah, so you're the one causing all this commotion. How interesting," he said, his voice smooth and velvety. "I am Loki, the Trickster God. Pleasure to make your acquaintance, mysterious young man that had appeared out of nowhere."
