60 Chapter 60: Valhalla

Valhalla, known as the "Hall of the Slain," is a mythological realm in Norse mythology. It is a large and magnificent hall located in Asgard, the realm of the gods. Valhalla is said to be ruled by Odin, the chief god of the Norse pantheon. It is believed to be the final resting place for brave and honorable warriors who die in battle. According to Norse belief, when a warrior dies in combat, they are chosen by the Valkyries, female divine beings who serve Odin, and taken to Valhalla. There, they join an elite group of warriors known as the Einherjar, and together, they prepare for the final battle of Ragnarok.

But in this world, such a place is a bit twisted. For Valhalla is no hall nor is it ruled by a single God King or one pantheon.

–It was but a battlefield, transformed into a majestic colosseum for duels that would decide the fate of humanity.

Men versus Gods, mortal dead souls against immortals.

Could humanity prevail in such overwhelming power and existence called a God?

'....Humanity's fucked. Also, this place is bigger than I thought.'

Such thoughts passed through Zenkichi's mind as he looked down at the gigantic arena and the numerous seats around it like a Roman colosseum. On one side were filled by billions of past and present humans, while on the other were Gods of varying characteristics that looked at the other side with disdain and mockery.

"....The manga and the anime never showed it, but would I finally see the Biblical God here?" Zenkichi muttered to himself, his eyes scanning the divine beings in search of any familiar figures. He wasn't much of a Christian in his previous life, and his current one mostly leaned towards the Shintos, but he had always wondered what the true form of the Almighty would look like.

Would it be Morgan Freeman? No matter what, he was going to take a selfie with the big G.

*Tap* *Tap*

"....Have you gotten used to this world yet, Zenkichi?" a voice beside him asked, interrupting his thoughts.

Zenkichi turned to see his multiverse group member and client, Brunhilde, with her distinctive flowing midnight blue hair that reaches her waist and bright green eyes. She waved her hand and a blue ball momentarily appeared around them before disappearing.

"Just so no one could hear what we're going to talk about, you know how nosey the Gods are." Brunhilde explained at Zenkichi's inquiry expression.

Zenkichi nodded, understanding the need for privacy in such a chaotic and unpredictable environment. "I wouldn't say I'm used to it but...I guess I'm a bit antsy. My world is on the brink of destruction after all, and this is my only chance to save it. Plus, fighting against gods and having a front-row seat to the battles of the afterlife is definitely something out of my comfort zone."

Brunhilde hummed and nodded at Zenkichi. "Indeed, it is a daunting task, but I have faith in you. I'll admit, I was....hesitant on summoning you because I haven't seen your combat prowess. But," she stared at him, looking him up and down, a small smile on her face. "looking at you now, I'm a bit certain you can stand a chance of victory against a God."

"Thanks." Zenkichi nodded and clenched his fists, feeling a surge of determination. "I won't let them down. My mother, my friends, my world. I will win this, go home, undo the tragedy, and....continue on with my life.'

'I ran away from my world. That's a fact that fills me with shame and guilt, but also a driving force for me to win this at all costs.' He clenched his hands, his heavy heart was a constant reminder of his sin.

He had no choice, there wasn't any viable option for him to turn the situation around. Ryota's hope video might have snapped the people back to normal, but the staggering amount of damage and deaths in the world wouldn't have been reversed.

A miraculous wish was the only way for everything to go back to normal.

He knew that, he understood, but still...he just couldn't help but feel guilty of running away from his homeworld.

Brunhilde noticed his expression and said, ".....Do you wanna eat something? I prepared some meals for you in your room."

"Oh, uh, thanks. I was getting a bit hungry." Zenkichi replied with a small smile, grateful for Brunhilde's consideration. Although she didn't know the whole story, she was kind and supportive, unlike what he remembered about her from the anime, and he appreciated that.

"Want me to accompany you?"

"No, no. It's fine. I already memorized the way. Besides, you've been accompanying me the whole time since my summoning. I know you've got a lot to take care of, especially since you're humanity's representative. Take a break and rest, Brunhilde. You deserve it," Zenkichi said, giving her a reassuring smile.

Brunhilde looked hesitant and let out a sigh, "Fine. Gods or anyone else cannot go anywhere near the place I have you set up anyway, so I won't get worried for now."

"Great. So, should I go now...?"

Brunhilde rolled her eyes and made a shooing gesture, "Yes, go eat already! Don't keep me waiting for too long. The next match will start in a couple of hours so after you rest up, ring the phone in the room to call me."

Zenkichi chuckled and nodded, turning to leave. "Oh, uh, what was the last match? The fighters, I mean."

Brunhilde raised an eyebrow. "It was Jack The Ripper and Heracles."

"Hm."

Zenkichi then left for his room.

As soon as he left, an unknown voice spoke up from behind Brunhilde. "Nee-sama, are you sure about letting him participate as a fighter for Ragnarok?"

Brunhilde's warm expression instantly evaporated into an emotionless mask as she turned to face the source of the voice. Standing there was the youngest sister of the thirteen Valkyries, Göll, with her lilac hair and aqua green eyes.

"I am," Brunhilde replied, her voice firm and unwavering.

Göll frowned, her eyes narrowing. "But why? Nee-sama, I can understand humanity's heroes, and villain, in history to fight for their survival but how could a nameless human who looked to be not even in his 2 decades be a worthy champion?"

Brunhilde's expression hardened, her eyes filled with conviction. "It is because of my gut, my instincts are telling me that he can bring the third victory for humanity."

Göll made a sound of disbelief, staring wide eyed at her sister's reply.

"Your gut?"

"Yes."

"Are you being serious right now? Oh my Allfather, please tell me you didn't get drunk again. I thought Hrist nee-sama had hidden all the Mead....or did you somehow get high on those pies again?"

"Oh please, Göll. You very much know that I just winged this entire Ragnarok to this point. Hel, I had placed a lot of my hopes on Adam taking the first win and lead mankind but look at how that turned out." Her facial expression contorted, remembering the second match. "That perverted old geezer, ruining my plans like that. He's already so old yet he still can't control his boner for violence. Well, we already knew he never had any sort of control."

"Nee-sama! Y-You can't just say that to one of the God Kings...although it's true."

Brunhilde rolled her eyes, "Most of the Gods clairvoyant abilities or omniscience are sealed away when they're in this realm, that includes the God Kings."

"Oh yeah, I always wondered how they couldn't just looked into the future and steamrolled the entire event. Especially the Allfather."

Brunhilde's lips curled up in amusement, remembering the event of how this rule was created. "It was a truly magnificent affair, something that couldn't be seen a second time throughout all cosmologies. The one time that the Gods had teamed up with other pantheons and rebelled against their respective God Kings."

"What?! Why–How is that possible?! I mean, with such an event, how come I don't know about it?"

"Oh yes. It was around the time when fifth sister was "born". That event was the most controversial and embarrassing scandal throughout God Realms. It was called the "Fury of the Goddesses", that was the day of banning clairvoyant abilities, ocular techniques, omniscience, and invisibility for all Gods when in one's realm. It was a unanimous decision when the Goddesses found certain Gods, *cough* Zeus and Allfather *cough*, peeking in their rooms, stealing their undergarments and seeing through their clothes."

"...Somehow, I'm not surprised."

"So yeah. They can't hear what we're saying here so....fuck'em."

Göll sighed, her shoulders slumping slightly. "I hope you are not making a grave mistake, Nee-sama. It's not only humanity's survival that is at stake here, but ours as well. Helping the humans out...."

"I am well aware of the stakes, Göll," Brunhilde replied, her voice steady. "But sometimes, the most unexpected people can rise to the occasion and achieve the impossible."

"Besides, wouldn't you want to see the looks the Gods would have when they see someone they have no knowledge of?"

Göll let out another sigh, unable to argue further. She may not fully understand her sister's decision, but she respected her judgment.

"Let us hope that....Zenkichi can defy all odds and bring victory to humanity," Göll finally said, her voice tinged with doubt and worry.

Brunhilde nodded, a determined glint in her eyes. "Yes, let us hope."

.....

"System."

[Yes, user Zenkichi?]

Zenkichi sat on his bed, a grim expression on his face.

"Can you answer some questions that I have?"

[>>>>It depends]

"Alright then, mind telling me why the fuck was there a Demon God Pillar back at my homeworld?!"

[.....Uh, event time?]
