Devil's Luck[Arc 5: Worlds Apart]

Zenkichi Hitoyoshi is a young man, destined to be chained by fate in the early story of canon. He was a man without ambition, drive, will and talent to become something great. Well, that'll soon change. For better, or for worse. .... AN: Alright, let's do this one last time, probably. Here's another Medaka Box fanfic that I hope it'll get to a hundred chapters before I drop it, or not? It depends on life really. And positive comments and reviews, I don't really care much of power stones(tho, that doesn't mean you can't...) but positive feedback on my work really inspires me more to write. Want to check out my pa-treon and be ahead of your fellow WN kin? Well here's the link: pa–treon.com/FroztDouluo *Just get rid of the dash. Edit: I just changed it to Gilgamesh because... Zenkichi basically almost resembles him at this point(I didn't planned for this happen) Schedule and the amount of chapters I'd be popping out? Tuesday and Thursday(UTC +8), 2–3 chapters a week(it's usually just 2 chapters because I'm slow at making anime related stories).

Chapter 118: A Fate Stay Night

"He's gotten too close," Zenkichi gritted his teeth and stopped. He was running on fumes right now, which is why he was using Hirankyaku sparingly. He wanted to save up enough energy so that when they got out of the reality marble he can escape and find out how to truly defeat the Lion King.

But where was he going to seek help? Ozymandias? The assassins in the far mountains?

Wait, what about the system?

'System, how can I defeat the Lion King?'

[Are you sure about this? Y/N]

'What?' Zenkichi blinked at the question, this was weird. This was the first time the system didn't automatically answer his question.

[Answer: Asking the system about your mission quest will automatically cause a hidden objective to fail.]

'Wait, hold up. I have a Godslayer skill, why isn't it doing anything? Is it because she's too powerful to be affected by such a skill? C'mon, is there really nothing I can do here?!'

He clenched his hands in frustration, and upon seeing Shirou Emiya standing in between the Lion King and Bedivere, he just... followed his gut.

Blue flames erupted from Zenkichi's right palm as he activated his Divine Authority and Devil Style, his eyes shone with a blue light as demonic flaming horns protruded from his forehead. An ancient symbol then manifested above his hand, primordial power emitted from the indescribable letter, and flowed into his flames.

He raised both his hands up and pulled back his right hand, as if he was drawing a bow, and the flames condensed into a line of blazing divine and demonic energy. Without any hesitation, he launched the fiery projectile straight towards Shirou Emiya.

It directly hit Shirou Emiya, causing an explosion of magical energy that was like the aftermath of a missile strike, it was enveloped by dust and smoke.

"Oh come on! Why won't you die?!" Zenkichi roared in frustration, his voice echoing across the battlefield. He saw through the dust to see Shirou Emiya alive, unexpectedly uninjured as well. A golden transparent dome suddenly surrounded Shirou Emiya, protecting him from the explosion. Zenkichi's frustration surged as he realized that even his most powerful attack couldn't break through the barrier.

Dubbed as the "Absolute Defense", arguably the strongest defensive Noble Phantasm in history: Avalon. It also has a potent healing, allowing for critical and fatal wounds to be rapidly repaired to restore the wielder's health; its why Shirou Emiya had initially survived his brief encounters with Zenkichi.

"Damn it!" he cursed, his mind racing for another plan.

However, he felt a chill run down his spine.

'Duck!' At that miniscule of a second, he couldn't think. It was purely his survival instinct that kicked in. He followed and not a second later, the Lion King appeared and punched out where his head had previously been; causing Zenkichi to narrowly evade the attack. The force of the Lion King's punch created a shockwave that caused the land behind him to be torn asunder and crumble. He felt the heat of the attack graze his scalp, and he quickly tried to escape using Hirenkyaku.

But the Lion King had no mercy towards him this time, with an icy cold stare, she tightly grabbed his head and slammed him into the ground, without any hesitation, with glowing golden fists, she started raining down blows upon Zenkichi's body, each strike sending shockwaves of pain coursing through him. Despite his divine strength and endurance, and skills, he could feel his body being pushed to its limit.

'How the fuck is she going through both The Iron and Encounter, with just her fists?!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Each punch caused the ground to tremble beneath Zenkichi's body. With every strike, his resolve only grew stronger. He couldn't let himself be defeated here, not when there was still a chance to turn the tide of battle.

 "You."

Bang!

"Have."

Bang!

"Successfully."

Bang!

"And truly."

Bang! Bang! Bang!

"Piss me off." The Lion King glared down at Zenkichi, her eyes filled with a cold determination. Despite the relentless assault, Zenkichi refused to give up. He gritted his teeth against the pain, and grinned bloodily.

"W-Well, I have that certain effect on people..."

The Lion King's cold glare intensified, and grabbing Zenkichi's right leg, she stood up. "For all the trouble that you have caused me, disrupting my plan to help preserve humanity from the false king of magecraft, instant death is far too merciful." With a swift motion, she swung Zenkichi's body overhead and slammed him into the ground with bone-crushing force.

Zenkichi's vision blurred with agony, but he refused to succumb. Summoning every ounce of strength left within him, he activated his Divine Authority once more, the flames dancing around his body in a desperate display of defiance. But those flames were quickly dispersed as she slammed him once more onto ground again, and again, and again, and...

"Arturia," A hand reached out, stopping the Lion King's relentless assault. Shirou Emiya stood there, his expression a mix of pain and sadness. "Stop. That's enough." he whispered.

The Lion King stopped, her grip still tight on Zenkichi's leg. She turned towards Shirou, her expression indifferent but her eyes told a different story. "He... hurt you."

Shirou exhaled, shaking his head. "He tried to, but I'm fine. Please, lets put an end this whole conflict."

"..." She stared at him.

He closed his eyes and sighed. "As well as that "Holy Selection", stop that. It isn't right. It isn't... It's not what the once and future King of Britain would do; creating bloodbath while sparing a selective few for some greater purpose. This is not what a King should do."

The Lion King's grip loosened slightly, her expression conflicted. "I am doing what I believe is necessary for the preservation of humanity."

Shirou's voice softened. "Preservation at the cost of sacrificing countless lives? Is that truly the path you want to take? Is that what Arturia Pendragon, the king of knights, the person who would try her best to save her people, would do?"

Zenkichi, battered and bruised on the ground, coughed out a chuckle. "I have to agree with him. Your plan... it's twisted. There's gotta be a better way."

"Shut up." The Lion King slammed him onto the ground once more.

Bang!

"Fuuuck... you..." Zenkichi weakly muttered.

She looked at Shirou, her expression turning icy.

Shirou gasped, his eyes wide as he felt being choked, red runes appeared around his neck.

"....I'm no longer that once naive and confused ruler, she died on the battle of Camlann alongside her kingdom." She raised the arm that Shirou had grabbed, and gently held onto his face. "I left all of that behind when my "Earth" was destroyed many years ago."

Shirou's eyes widened.

The Lion King closes her, recalling the memories that she had buried. "In my reality, I did not die from my injuries after the battle in Camlann, even though I did not have my sheath. I should have died that day, but I didn't. I had instead recovered due to holding onto my holy lance, Rhongomyniad; it healed my physical wounds but also gradually eroding my previous identity as Arturia Pendragon. It then transformed me into the "Goddess Rhongomyniad", a complete Divine Spirit."

"For 1500 years, I became a wandering ghost that was fated to roam her Earth till the end of time. Once my original reality was destroyed for some unknown reason even to me, I was forced to travel across many parallel realities beyond my own until... I found this timeline, and the evil plan orchestrated by a being called the Mage King."

She lightly chuckled. "I myself don't why I had decided to come here, to help save humanity. Perhaps it is the last piece of humanity within me that still clings to the ideals of justice and protection; perhaps it is why I recreated "Camelot" and called upon my subordinates."

"The Magic King's plan of the Incineration of Humanity is coming soon, and before that happens I need to complete the Tower of the Farthest Reaches; in which the souls of the most virtuous humans rests." She hummed, with a crackle of magical energy, and Shirou finally stopped choking. She opened her eyes and they stared at each other.

"... I do not understand it, but I feel protective of you, I care for you. Even though it shouldn't be possible after I became a Divine Spirit, and I have a feeling you might know why," she looked down to his hand and the sword he was holding. "especially with how you have "that" sword with you: Caliburn, the sword of selection, the sword that gave me my destiny."

"Arturia, I..." Shirou wanted to tell her, about his past and the history with his Arturia Pendragon. But he hesitated.

It wasn't fair on his Arturia, and it wasn't fair to lead this Arturia on as well.

So, he went silent, and leaned his forehead against the Lion King.

For a brief moment, they enjoyed the silence, the weight of their strange connection hanging heavy in the air.

"Shirou, I want to-"

Shlick! Shlick!

A crimson red spear pierced through Shirou Emiya's heart from behind, and a golden blade of light pierced through the chest and armor of the Lion King from behind.

Blood spilled out.

"Man, I feel bad for this but..." Zenkichi wearily smiled, holding a crimson spear; having escaped using Liquid Morph once more. "I have a world to save, you understand that, right? Ally of justice, Shirou Emiya."

"...I apologize for doing such a dishonorable move, my king. But I... just like you, for the sake of fulfilling my promise to you, I have casted away my knightly identity and devote everything for my goal." Bedivere said, his voice heavy with regret as he stood behind the Lion King, the blade of light still protruding from her chest. "I am truly sorry."

The Lion King didn't hear him, she was instead more focused on Shirou. Her eyes widened in shock when she saw the light in his eyes fading away.

"No. No, no, no, no, no....!"

Subconsciously, she raised her hand and motes of golden light gathered, creating an astonishing pillar of light that shot into the sky and gaining the attention of others on the battlefield. The golden light illuminated the grim scene, casting long shadows across the shattered landscape.

A beautiful white long spear, its spiral-like spearhead shimmers with a radiant, otherworldly light, the Holy Lance Rhongomyniad, manifested in all its divine glory. It stood tall and imposing, its presence commanding the attention of all who beheld it. The spear's shaft, long and slender, gleamed with a pristine white hue, reflecting the ethereal radiance that emanated from its core. At its tip, the spearhead shimmered with an otherworldly light, casting a brilliant glow that bathed the battlefield in a sacred aura.

However, it soon turned red and bathed the sky a bloody light. Red lightning crackled across in the air as divine power ran rampant, causing lightning strikes to hit the land recklessly, causing the Reality Marble to tremble and show cracks all over.

"Ah, shit."

Zenkichi stared up at the sky with a grim expression.

"Holy Judgement-!"

She was about to release its power; destroying everything around them, when her holy lance was knocked away.

"What? Shirou, you..." The Lion King stared at Shirou in shock, as he had used Caliburn to knock the Rhongomyniad away.

Drawing deep and heavy breaths, Shirou smiled as he hugged her tight and said.

"Helping others, isn't wrong... And right now, I choose to help them."

"Why?!"

"...Because that would what Arturia Pendragon would do," Shirou replied, his voice gentle yet firm. "She would strive to protect everyone, to find a way that doesn't involve sacrificing innocent lives. That's the Arturia I know and admire."

The Lion King's expression softened, a flicker of recognition passing through her eyes. She reached out, her hand trembling slightly as if grappling with a revelation.

"I... I remember now," she murmured, her voice barely audible amidst the chaos surrounding them, the Reality Marble began to collapse. "Shirou, I-"

.....

AN: Ngl, it took me awhile to write this because I just can't get the description of the Holy Lance right. I've tried other fanfics to see how they describe it, and they're all mostly "a beautiful white lance, a false form that was a tower that binds the worlds and etc.." it's mostly being a white lance or spear and it being incredibly beautiful.
