Devil's Luck[Arc 5: Worlds Apart]

Zenkichi Hitoyoshi is a young man, destined to be chained by fate in the early story of canon. He was a man without ambition, drive, will and talent to become something great. Well, that'll soon change. For better, or for worse. .... AN: Alright, let's do this one last time. Here's another Medaka Box fanfic that I hope it'll get to a hundred chapters before I drop it, or not? It depends on life really. And positive comments and reviews, I don't really care much of power stones(tho, that doesn't mean you can't...) but positive feedback on my work really inspires me more to write. Want to check out my pa-treon and be ahead of your fellow WN kin? Well here's the link: pa–treon.com/FroztDouluo *Just get rid of the dash. Edit: I just couldn't find any good art for the cover.... Is this fine? Schedule and the amount of chapters I'd be popping out? Tuesday and Thursday(UTC +8), 2–3 chapters a week(it's usually just 2 chapters because I'm slow at making anime related stories).

Chapter 105: Unexpected Situation

"Dry, blazing hot sand as far as the eye could see." Gudako mumbled as she looked around her surroundings as she rode the... buggy Leonardo Da Vinci created. "Going into a desert and riding a dune buggy, I'm definitely checking this out of my bucket list."

"Bucket list? Senpai, you have a bucket list?" A purple haired girl wearing skintight black armor interrupted, her voice filled with curiosity. It was Mash Kyrielight, Gudako's loyal kouhai and servant.

Gudako flashed Mash a mischievous grin and replied, "Of course, Mash! Don't you?" She shifted her gaze back to the expansive desert stretching ahead of them. "Despite what dangers we'll encounter in our journey to fix the singularities, there are just so many things I want to experience and accomplish in life, you know? And shifting through other timelines is a once in a lifetime experience!"

Mash nodded, the breeze gently rustling her hair. "I can understand that. Although being a Demi-Servant limits my experiences, I also have my own list," she confessed, a glimmer of excitement in her eyes.

She turned towards Gudako and asked a question that she's been curious about for a while now. "Senpai, can I ask you about something?"

"Hm? Sure, what's up?"

"Well, there's just something that I don't understand about for a while now." Mash twiddled with her fingers. "Senpai, that chat group you've been talking about..."

"Ah, the Multiversal Group Chat? What about it? Ah! Do you wanna join us as well, Mash?" Gudako tilted her head, pondering. "Uh, I don't know if I can personally invite you. I should first ask Lucky Devil..."

After weeks of hesitation, Gudako finally decided to show everyone in Chaldea about the group chat. Everyone had varied reactions about it, mostly curiousity and doubt. After all, this was the first time they'd ever heard something like that.

Da Vinci and other "geniuses" were... extremely curious about such an app and started tinkering on her phone; they couldn't access the app except for Gudako herself. They wouldn't have believed her if it weren't for pictures of different people she showed them from the group chat; as there was no internet or anyone else outside of Chaldea at the moment.

Mash shook her head, a shy smile on her face. "E-Eh, no, it's not about joining the chat. Although I am very thankful... it's more about how you can send gifts to others right?"

"Yes."

"Well," Mash squirmed in her seat, her face flustered. "can you ask them to gift us some supplies?"

"Huh? Oh yeah, we are pretty low on food and my tamp..."

Gudako blanched.

'I-I forgot!!'

She and Mash shared a look, and nodded.

"I'll ask them for help."

"Thank you, senpai."

"Oh, Fujimaru! Mash! You girls are doing well, I see?" The woman with long, flowing brown hair that was driving the buggy looked back at them with a smile. "It was made of scraps, but it's pretty good, right?" she proudly said, referring to the dune buggy.

Leonardo Da Vinci, a renowned artist and inventor, a great legend in world history and is a Caster-class Servant of Chaldea Security Organization. Though it's widely known that she's a he, which is true, the reason for her appearance is because, quote, "age and gender has no effect before a true genius, doctrines and fashion may change with the times, but there is merely one truth: whatever happens, da Vinci is the unrivaled omnipotent one!" or simply because she feels nothing wrong in having become Mona Lisa, the ideal beauty she pursued during her life.

Normally she'd be at Chaldea, helping out with the staff and supervise Gudako and Mash through communication alongside Romani, but now it was different. Driven out of curiosity and boredom, she decided to accompany the duo in this singularity.

Basically, she's a pervert and does not seem to hide this fact.

Gudako shook her head and turned towards her. "It's amazing, Da Vinci! You really outdid yourself with this creation." She leaned back, feeling the wind whip through her orange hair. "You're certainly in high spirits."

"Why, of course! Up until now, we weren't able to enter a singularity together." Da Vinci turned to look back forward

"We're counting on you, Da Vinci." Mash said.

Gudako was just about to take a seat down when an image interface suddenly flashed in front of her.

"Romani here, you girls doing okay?"

"Yes, we're doing fine." Gudako nodded, with Mash and Da Vinci confirming their well-being as well.

"Good to hear. Now then, shall we go over the situation?"

"Please do."

"Alright," Romani nodded, a smile on his face. "You're all currently in the year of A.D. 1273. The 9th Crusade failed, the Catholic Church lost its influence over Jerusalem."

"The Mamluk Dynasty, the Mongol Empire, and the Christians were in discord." Da Vinci added.

"Probably the one who hosted the Holy Grail was one of the survivors of the Crusaders. The Holy Grail has always gone to the loser after all." Romani dryly said, looking away for a moment.

"The Holy Grail..." Gudako clenched her fists, remembering the long journey that went through to get here.

"But then again, is this place really... the Kingdom of Jerusalem?" Mash interjected, her voice filled with uncertainty.

Romani hummed and replied, "According to coordinates, the citadel's fortress

should be here, but..."

It was all sand and ruin, a far cry from the magnificent kingdom they had expected.

"It seems like something

has happened already." Da Vinci narrowed her eyes as she drove the buggy up a curve. "A perfect example, is that."

As the view from the other side came to view, both Gudako and Mash gasped in awe upon seeing a beautiful, glimmering city in the distance. The one towering building made of marble and glass reflected the sunlight, creating a mesmerizing sight.

"A city?"

"A castle?"

Da Vinci nodded her head, "According to the architectural design, it clearly doesn't belong to this land." Her gaze sharpened.

"The grail and the source of this singularity is most likely there."

As they jumped over the curve, a large pillar of red light erupted in the distance. A couple seconds later, a powerful shockwave then shook the ground, causing the dune buggy to sway dangerously upon landing.

"This is bad! People, brace for impact!"

Gudako, Mash, and Da Vinci held on tight as the dune buggy drove around uncontrollably. The sand beneath them shifted and crumbled, before it inevitably fell down onto the sand on the side.

"Bleh, ugh! I think I got some sand in my mouth." Gudako groaned as she crawled out of the tipped over vehicle. "This is why I hate geniuses!"

"Hahaha! No worries! It just needed a little bit of tweaking." Despite having crashed, Da Vinci merely laughed it off and dust off the sand on her. As a servant, even for someone like her with weak physical stats, crashing a dune buggy into the sand wouldn't injure her much.

"Senpai! Are you alright?" Mash was the same as Da Vinci, as she was already up and running to help her master.

"Hehe, thanks Mash." Gudako grinned, brushing the sand off her clothes. "I'm fine, just a little sandy." She looked around at their surroundings, taking in the breathtaking view of the city in the distance. "Well, looks like we'll have to continue on foot from here."

"Says who?" Da Vinci spoke, crossing her arms. "It's just a little mishap, give me a few minutes and I can run this thing up again soon. But first, Mash. Help me set this thing up properly."

"Yes, Da Vinci!" Mash nodded.

Gudako sighed and then turned towards the distance of where that red light came from. "What was that? A servant?"

"Most likely," Da Vinci nonchalantly said as she looked down at her bulky, advanced gauntlet. "if it were a Phantasmal Beast or something, there would be have been an accompanying roar. And by my device..."

Da Vinci grimaced, a look of caution on her face. "It tells me about at least three readings of high level servants. What's going on here, is there a battle royal going on there?"

Mash worriedly frowned, "S-Should we head there and check?"

"..." Gudako silently took a few steps forward, blankly looking at that direction and clenched her fists. The command seals on her hand began to shimmer, and a familiar sensation of a connection to someone appeared within her.

Her eyes widened in shock, 'A connection with a servant? But how?! I just barely arrived at this place! And whoever they are, they're really sucking me dry, quickly! What the heck's going on?!'

"Fujimaru? Hey Fujimaru, you okay?" Da Vinci came over and patted his shoulder worriedly.

She turned towards her and told her of what she was feeling.

"What?! You're already connected with a servant!! How!?" Da Vinci rubbed her chin in thought.

"C-Could it possibly be someone we've met from a previous singularity?" Gudako said.

"B-But, that's impossible! Is it, Da Vinci?" Mash turned towards the genius.

Da Vinci rubbed her chin, appearing deep in thought. "Well, it should be impossible as the servants you've previously contracted with are temporary and would disappear when the singularity ends! But then again, we've encountered plenty of anomalies and inconsistencies throughout our journey so far. Perhaps this is just one of them."

Gudako nodded, her determination flaring up. "Either way, I have to find out who this servant is and why I have this connection with them. Mash, Da Vinci, let's head towards the direction of where that light was and investigate."

Mash and Da Vinci exchanged glances before nodding in agreement. "We'll follow your lead, Senpai," Mash said, her voice filled with determination.

"We really do need a DPS... I sure hope they are," Da Vinci mumbled as she quickly started fixing her vehicle. "Ooh! So this is the part that needs some fixing.'

Gudako narrowed her eyes.

"Just who are you...?"

.....

Body.

Soul.

Spirit.

A wanderer who has almost lost these three.

He wonders if he can

fulfill this sinner's wish.

This is, without a doubt...

His final chance.

No matter the outcome of this battle,

He will die this way.

Squandering his soul, departing from the cycle of rebirth, he will... turn into nothingness.

Even so,

'What is with this situation?' Bedivere sweatdropped as he saw the situation in front of him unfold.

He was just in his way towards the so-called Holy City, when he suddenly felt familiar presences and a great accumulation of magical energy in one area.

Shocked and curious, he went into that direction to find out what was going on.

He expected a lot of things, one about confronting one of his former comrades or finding a pile of bodies.

But seeing a topless, muscular young man wearing blue jeans and sandals with crossed arms, standing before a kneeling woman with a revealing outfit and Sphinxes bowing down towards the man besides the lady.

'Seriously, what is going on here?!'

....

AN: So, yeah. To any FGO players out there, I did not go with the game version of the beginning, solely because I haven't reach that singularity again yet. So we're sticking a bit to the movies!
