A sibling?

"So how did I go missing?" I questioned them.

I was sitting in the living room with mom and dad. Emma left after breakfast and Mr Kingston never showed up. After our little emotional meltdown we mutually decided to sit down and talk about our current situation.

Finally something sensible happened these days!

Listening to my question both of them shared a look and then looked at me.

"Go ahead, I want to know," I pressed.

"Your dad will tell," mother looked at him. He cleared his throat and started.

"I was out of country on a business trip when your mom's water broke," he paused for a second and then continued, "Your mom's caretaker called me but unfortunately I was in a meeting and my phone was unreachable." he stopped again and looked at mother who gave him an approving look in return.

I don't know why but I felt like he was trying to make up some part of the story by himself and asking for my mother's assurance.
