2 Another Unfamiliar Ceiling

Slowly the world came into focus as the person opened their eyes. They were lying with their back against the ground staring up into the roof of an old building. After emitting a soft groan, they slowly started moving and the first thing he noticed was that he could feel everything again like any normal and alive person could.

Sitting up, they briefly thought that they could feel a weird sensation behind him but just decided to ignore it for now. Briefly glancing around the building, preliminary observation showed that it had stone walls and a wooden ceiling, reminiscent of an old church, though all the pews were pushed aside and messily stacked against the walls and the giant cross that was on the wall above the altar was turned upside down with burn marks on it.

"Well, this is definitely giving off a demon cult vibe, I should probably get out of here."

Slowly attempting to stand up, they were promptly convinced that standing was quite a difficult feat when a wave of dizziness caused them to fall over again. Deciding to take their first steps a bit more carefully, they prompted themself up onto their hands and knees, once again ignoring the strange sensation from their rear but just when they were about to attempt to get up again they froze. Out of the corner of their right eye, they saw something long and white move up beside them.

Slowly turning their head, while expecting to see a snake or weird-looking lizard, they were shocked to see what instead greeted them was what appeared to be the end of a tail. Suddenly getting a bad premonition and starting to realise what the strange sensation was, they turned their head around further and was greeted by a long, chalk-white tail that extended around them and connected to their tailbone.

Now that they were properly looking at themself they noticed that their entire body was as white as this newly discovered limb and that they were possibly, though their memory seemed questionable, more slender and much differently proportioned than they remembered.

"This is interesting... I'm fairly certain I did not look like this before..."

Groggily rising to her feet, while fighting off another wave of dizziness, they calmly inspected the trashed church, looking for any reflective surface that would help them get a better grasp of their appearance.

Luckily, it did not take long for her searching to pay off as she came across an old and dusty, yet quite plain mirror in a side room at the back of the church close to the main door. She brushed one of her slender and white hands against the surface of the full-body mirror until enough dust had been removed to fully grasp her appearance.

"Wow, I can't even recognise myself. I wonder why the strange being felt the need to remodel my appearance, maybe a prank? It does seem like it'd be in character... At least I am quite attractive, if you ignore the unnaturally white hue of my skin, I hope I won't immediately burn up in the sun like an albino. It appears my hair has also lengthened a bit and turned white as well."

Studying her appearance some more, she quickly discovered that there were a few more changes to her body than she first realised. For starters, her height now seemed to be roughly 1.6 meters, which didn't particularly bother her, as try as she might she had no recollection of her prior self, just a vague memory of a silhouette. Her eye colour was ruby-red and she had also grown a pair of black demonic-looking horns that started above and slightly in front of her now pointed and slightly elongated ears and marginally curled around her head before slightly flaring out at the back. She also now had a long, white tail that was roughly a meter in length and ended in a relatively flat point, much like traditional demon tails, the only real difference being where the triangular-shaped part connects there is a slight indent and unlike traditional demon tails that are depicted as black, hers was just as white as she was. The last notable change was that her front teeth had become sharper with her canines being visibly lengthened by a small degree.

"Ok, so it appears I have become a bona fide demon, just without the wings. Also, horns are usually made out of the same material as the skeleton of a creature... right? Does that mean my skeleton is black? Then how come my teeth are still white? Maybe I'm wrong... Hmmm, interesting thought but I hope I never have to find out as the only way of that happening would be if I gravely injure myself. But what about going into public now. I'm going to have to leave this church eventually, but considering that I am now some sort of exotic life form, wouldn't the government try to kidnap and dissect me? Wow, the future is not looking bright."

As she was thinking these sombre thoughts her tail started drooping till it was right above the ground with the tip pointing at the floor. Noticing this she was surprised, which caused the end of her tail to stick up, so she immediately started experimenting with the range of control she had over her newly acquired appendage.

The result of her mucking around was that when she consciously tried to, she could move the tail around in whatever ways she liked as if she's had a tail her entire life. But when ignoring it, it just kinda moved around on its own and usually reacted to her mood or actions.

"Wow, I have a very expressive tail, but this might come in handy if I ever need to carry anything and don't have any hands free. However, if I'm in a conversation, I might need to force my tail to remain still as it very clearly expresses my emotions."

Following that thought, she decided to see how strong her tail was so she walked over to a rather large book on the floor and attempted to lift it with her tail. The results were quite positive as she could use the end of her tail to wedge under the book then wrap her tail around it and lift it as if it weighed nothing.

"Well this will hopefully come in handy in the future, the only real question would be what to do now."
